I asked Collision Works to repair the existing OEM parts where possible to save money. Instead, they ordered a cheap ass bumper cover and trunk lid. When we picked up the car, I noticed they tried delivering the car under a shaded awning. After 15 years in the paint industry, I know better and told them to pull it out into the sun so I could see the work. The color match was okay, but there were dirt nibs in the paint and they didn't polish them out. I also saw the corner of the bumper was sticking out. The guy told me they bought a "cheaply" to save money. I specifically remember telling them to repair the OEM parts if possible, not to order cheap crap. By the time we got home, the bumper was complete coming off. We called to have it fixed and they rescheduled another appointment. The second time we got it back, I noticed they had put screws from the inside of the bumper to the fender trying to keep it from popping back out. The bumper plainly didn't fit the car and they didn't care. It's been 6 months and now the chrome on the truck lid they replaced is delaminating. As an experienced paint professional, I'm embarrassed I didn't do more research. If I hadn't transitioned to aviation work, I would have fixed this myself. We even took half the motorcycle apart trying to find the sticker or something to identify the the color code. I got tired and left. I went back again the next day and he did identify the color and the painter was actually working on my finder. This dude had the part finished the next day. I had to think long and hard if this cycle worth what the bill was going to be. I looked the fender over very good and the match was perfect. Considering there are over 2 million colors to chose from. They charged my a modest price and the best paint job anyone could ask for. After some minor paint damage happened to my car, I took it to Dacus for an estimate. They…read moreperformed the estimate and sent it to me, and then I provided it to my insurance company - all good so far. After insurance processed it, we received a check for $500 less than what the claim had been. I called the insurance company to ask why this was, and they said that Dacus had agreed to do the work for the lower price, so with my deductible and the check they had sent I would be good to go. I called Dacus to schedule to work, however they surprised me: They said they didn't care what they had agreed to with the insurance company, they would be charging me the full price on the original estimate, and probably more, and I would just have to eat what insurance didn't cover. Thankfully, I called my insurance and was able that check voided (it was addressed to the body shop), and found another body shop that agreed to do the work at the price that Dacus had agreed to do it for before they tried to make me pay the original estimate price out of pocket. The insurance company had the documentation that Dacus had agreed to do the work for that lower price, email trail and everything, so Dacus apparently thought they would just agree to the lower price and then get some extra money on top out of me. No thanks.

I did not have repairs done at this business, so I cannot speak to the quality of their work. I was not made to feel comfortable, and my concerns were not addressed, but angrily dismissed. What was made abundantly clear from first contact was they worked solely for the insurance company and I as a vehicle owner did not matter and neither did my property or my concerns. Just a caution to those that leave their car with any repair shop, and understand what releases you are signing: 1. You, as the owner, are entitled to know when, and where, the vehicle is at all times. 2. Be cautious of a shop that drives your car to other locations, as the owner of that vehicle you are responsible if the driver gets into an accident. You are responsible for injuries, and you are responsible for damages to another person's property. You are also responsible for violations that occur with your vehicle. 3. If the driver of your vehicle is pulled over for any reason and they should happen to be carrying an illegal substance, have an outstanding warrant, or are unlicensed; your vehicle can be impounded or seized. 4. You have a right to know that if the vehicle is being driven that the driver is qualified and will exercise extraordinary care. I did not schedule the repairs with this shop due to my concerns that were not taken seriously. Just remember, if you rent a car from any business they need your drivers license, proof of insurance, and they can check your driving history, but you leave a vehicle for repairs you sign a release that as it was told to me "anyone they hand my keys to can drive my car anywhere." The customer/owner, and their property should be priority, not satisfying the insurance company. Your car is a very expensive investment, and you have a right to know how it is being handled.
