After some minor paint damage happened to my car, I took it to Dacus for an estimate. They…read moreperformed the estimate and sent it to me, and then I provided it to my insurance company - all good so far. After insurance processed it, we received a check for $500 less than what the claim had been. I called the insurance company to ask why this was, and they said that Dacus had agreed to do the work for the lower price, so with my deductible and the check they had sent I would be good to go. I called Dacus to schedule to work, however they surprised me: They said they didn't care what they had agreed to with the insurance company, they would be charging me the full price on the original estimate, and probably more, and I would just have to eat what insurance didn't cover. Thankfully, I called my insurance and was able that check voided (it was addressed to the body shop), and found another body shop that agreed to do the work at the price that Dacus had agreed to do it for before they tried to make me pay the original estimate price out of pocket. The insurance company had the documentation that Dacus had agreed to do the work for that lower price, email trail and everything, so Dacus apparently thought they would just agree to the lower price and then get some extra money on top out of me. No thanks.

In reality the minute they enter your VIN# (which he took six pictures of) and search parts for the estimate, Carfax picks it up and your car drops in value.

Last week I dropped off my car to Caliber Body Shop. They said they would call me and send me an…read moreestimate the next day. I heard nothing from them. I called my insurance company. They said they have not heard from them. I called Caliber back and they said it was sent to the insurance. I waited 4 hours and callled the insurance company again. Still nothing. I called caliper again. They told me "oh looks like I never hit the send button. " Finally the insurance company said they got the estimate and it was approved. The body shop pulled apart my front bumper and after having called them several times they said they can't get a bumper, there is none in the USA or Germany. They then said they would keep trying to locate one. Thursday last week my insurance company told me that Caliber told them it's impossible locate a bumper and they are washing their hands of the whole job. I waited for Caliber to call and tell me that and nothing. They finally called Friday morning and told me they give up and they are washing their hands of it. They said the car is put back together and ready for me to pick it up. I took off work to get to their shop before they closed. When I got there they had the car ready at the door to drive away. That's when I found that the bumper was hanging on by just a few connections and was about to fall off the car. It was NOT road worthy and safe to drive. They said they would make it right and attach it the way it was when I dropped it off. "Solid and not moving around" they said Monday it would be ready. I walked outside with the business rep and I asked why when I asked twice for a separate estimate for two small dents on my door that he never got back to me. He pulled me further away from the front door and said his buddy in Andover Kansas will do it cheaper. he did not want his boss to hear him tell me that. I picked the car up this morning and the bumper was tighter but still very loose and not like it was when I dropped it off. I had called another body shop and they located the Bumper "OEM" "new" and the work would not be a problem. So to sum it up. Caliber lied to me, tried to get me to drive away an unsafe car on the Highway, their employee attempted to give away extra business to his buddy basically stealing from his employer. So basically, it was either lies or complete lack of competence, quality, and integrity. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any repair service.
