This location of Youth Ranch still sits at a 3 star for me. They have reorganized and taken out the Ruby's corner (vintage section) and replaced it with books and DVD's. While I loved Ruby's corner, I think this is a better use of space as I can't even remember where the book section was before, so I think it was a smaller, less noticeable section. I love finding a good book at a second hand store. Furniture is still plenty, clothes too! Prices have gone up a ton but I guess where hasn't!? You can still find a good deal if you spend the time and look close enough but all-in-all, fewer deals to be found. $7 bucks for a donated, used shirt seems a bit steep (as an example) I digress, we all get it. Plan to wait in line for check out. There is often one checker running the register and the fitting rooms. (When I go in, which is not the weekends, they may have more people on the weekends). I'm honestly surprised by the bad reviews. I think this is one of the nicer thrift stores that I've been to here, and I thrift a lot. Prices were a little bit higher than what they used to be but that's been my observation at a lot of thrift stores nowadays. I thought this location was organized well & still had great items. I have been coming to this location for years and have never had an issue until today. I was shopping with my senior disabled mother, who wasn't feeling well. The summer heat can be intorable and she needed a light shirt. She found a shirt that fit her diabetic stomach comfortably and noticed it had a small hole--not on a seam, but in a spot that stretched and worsened when worn. She politely asked if a small discount could be given due to the flaw. We understand this is a thrift store and items are donated, but pricing should reflect the condition of the merchandise. The cashier responded by smiling dismissively and saying she didn't think management would approve a discount anyway. Her tone felt condescending, and her reaction drew the attention of another customer who joined in, making the situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. It would have taken just a moment of empathy and a small markdown to resolve the issue respectfully. My mother, who uses a red and white cane (visual and hearing impaired)and is clearly on a fixed income, deserved to be treated with dignity--not mocked or made to feel like a burden. I called the store twice to speak with management. The first call was answered by the same rude employee, who also appeared unkempt--her hair was greasy and her fingernails were visibly dirty, which raises hygiene concerns in a public-facing role. The second call was answered by the manager, who hung up without offering to resolve the matter. At no point was I rude or aggressive--I simply expected understanding and basic customer service. Based on this experience, I will no longer be supporting this location, and I urge others to consider donating elsewhere. The way they treated a disabled senior today was unacceptable, and their lack of compassion and professionalism is deeply disappointing. First time that I've ever been to a store that started turning out the overhead lights an HOUR before they closed. They say they close at 8. They turned out several of the overhead lights at 7. Several people commented that they couldn't see things on the shelves. The lady in the front told someone to go to the back and "tell her to turn the lights back on." Instead of that, a female got on the intercom and said that they close in an hour so please make our final selections and go up front to be checked out. It worked. Three of us left. I usually like IYR. Maybe it's just the Nampa location that is so rude. read more

HIGH PRICES here, it's OUTRAGEOUS. For second hand stuff that they get for free, they're being incredibly GREEDY, they have so much stuff they can't even sell it all with these prices. Another thrift store that can't take a hint & obviously not for the costumers! read more

I have been a loyal customer for many, many years both donating to and mostly shopping at. After my visit to the Overland /5 Mile store today, I don't think I'll be back. 1- I was in the store for no more than ten minutes and the overhead recording played the covid warning six times. Your poor employees having to listen to that repeated hundreds of times each day! 2- I used to find good brands at reasonable prices but all I found today was used up rubbish. Where is all the good stuff? How do you stay in business selling used up shoes and clothing? 3- what happened to your reasonable prices? I could not believe what y'all are charging for common items. 4- this store is disorganized. The books are always in a state of disarray. It feels junky. I honestly don't see how this organization can sustain this business model. The Goodwill down the street is clean and is constantly bringing out quality items that are reasonably priced. I much prefer the mission of IYR but you are making it very hard to shop with you. I dislike the prices, quality, culture and cleanliness. Please do better. read more

This location has very limited donation hours, so I had to make a special trip to donate 2 boxes and a bag of goods. When I arrived, I was not greeted. They were annoyed that I was there. Two ladies did not speak to me except to tell me they did not like where I placed my boxes. A lady told me gruffly that I needed to place them on some shelves. No other words were spoken. I am going to take my donations somewhere else next time. read more

Great selection of stuff in Ruby's Attic on Overland in Boise. Friendly service, cleaner than most Thrift Stores.

We dropped off some items and they actually refused a piece of furniture that we have used regularly for years. The obvious was that we had rented a u-haul and were dropping off the last items before turning in the truck. The receiver said they couldn't sell it. Since when are the so picky? It was a decent sofa table, albeit a little wobbly, that we had painted black but just didn't have room in our new house. We feel this was so rude, offensive and obnoxious that we will never go there again, even though it's only 2 miles from our house. We have donated TRUCKLOADS - literally- to donation centers in the valley and NEVER been turned away like this. Do this to enough people and donations will stop. There are plenty of other choices. I understand policies where they can't take mattresses, paint, broken appliances that need to go to the dump. But a decent piece of furniture that wobbles a little and easily fixed? That's taking it too far. read more
