The service here is always fine, no complaints. The selection can be hit or missed depending but I would say on average. It's got a pretty wide selection of all kinds of things, maybe some things you don't normally see a thrift store, but that makes it better! Donation line is horrible. Also they tear open the bags of clothes before they take the bags out of your car and leave the items they don't seem fit. They left a 175.00 coffee maker and a bed side rail that was brand new. Goodwill always has great service. The clothes I donated were name brand. Coach purses, and even a saddle. read more

I found another one, just like the other ones!! And surprise!...it rocks too! One rainy Sunday I embarked on a journey to the land of Meridian. And magically as I drove, an Idaho Youth Ranch appeared on my left. Poof! "Well," I told my self, " I can't drive by a thrift store without stopping!" So I floated in! I ooooed and awwwwed. I got lost in the magical castle looking book nook! I shuffled through the packed clothing racks and ooogled over the excellent and diverse styles of clothes they offered. I zoomed over to the packed racks of purses (I found a Coach purse for $30.00 bucks... pretty new) ... I skipped through the long runway style glass and dishware section like I was walking the catwalk! "Excuse me sir, do you have a cart big enough to take this all home?" I always think. Glassware is my obsession. How many glasses can I drink out of at once, I always ask myself while grabbing another retro awesome mug/cup. After I walked the catwalk there is a round sharp u-turn through the magical forest of homeware, misc. and stuff. (The only way I know how describe this section and what my brain screams it is break out in song!) As Ariel from TL Mermaid would say, Whoozits and Whatzits galore! And I say, "thing-a-mcbobs, I've got 20. But who cares... No big deal... I want morrrrrrrrreeeeeee. " After I bobbed and weaved through the magical forrest of thing-a-mcbobs, I snuck through the furniture graveyard. Hmmm, pretty good furniture for the furniture graveyard... Upon exploring the cave of extra misc. and sports equipment, I whisped through the registrar and bought all of my whoozits and then escaped this magical place only to say, I should probably come back next week. Moral of the story. Don't try this place, you will get lost in its magical wonder and probably buy something I want. ;) read more

A lesson in inefficiency- 6 people directing traffic and taking donations and I waited for what I expected to be a few minutes behind several cars to drop donations off. Ending up waiting nearly half an hour before they actually took my donations. Pretty ridiculous for the amount of people that were working- I will say on a positive note many place were turning away donations this close to the end of the year. But BOY they could certainly use someone to move along the productivity. read more

I love shopping at idaho youth ranch all of the cashiers are nice and they welcome you when you walk into the store.

This place while it might be rooted in good intentions is ruined by the absolutely rude and what I would call lazy workers. This review is also for the drop off area for donation only...I have been now several times and today would be the last time. Like my 1st experience they have this 1 at a time system while 6-8 people stand around and do absolutely nothing. The other part is how picky they are while I looked around at literally a bunch of junk while the workers acted totally snobby to what I dropped off on both times. BTW nothing I dropped off was short of name brands like Pottery Barn, West Elm, Coach, Kate Spade Etc...the gut check for this place should be that what your getting is "Free" and then you sell for 100% profit to go for whatever cause this is supporting. I would go back to an old saying that "you can attract more bees to honey than to salt"...the Goodwill down the street is a whole different experience and I would highly suggest dropping your items off there and drive right by this place. read more

WORST place on earth. Some bat-shit crazy woman named Ruby has no clue what is antique or collectable and thinks anything more than 10 minutes old is collectable. Prime example, Beach Boys LP record, unplayable condition $45!! Fire this Ruby person as she is costing you a fortune in unsold junk she thinks should be way over-priced. I used to shop at IYR weekly and found some nice usable things at a reasonable price, not for the last 3 years, all junk all the time. It is morally WRONG that you should try and maximize profits to unsuspecting consumers on goods that were DONATED!! Get back to being fair priced. You have lost a great deal of customers; I hear it every day all day!! read more

I love the ranch. No, I'm not talking about buttermilk or Blue Cheese's stepbrother but rather the Idaho Youth Ranch. Why? Here's why. (1) Goodwill maybe good for popping tags but they rake in the $$$$$, (2) Savers is good but the donating part is not always easy at my location. (3) The Salvation Army is most 2nd choice due to the fact that they help the most and there no $$$ that go to top or the execs. The IYR helps Idaho kids plain and simple. They have an awesome drive thru donation system that I have been using for the past 12 years. Receipts are actually receipts that you can use for your taxes besides the "coupons" that the Goodwill gives you. Very happy to be supporting a legitimate charity locally. read more

I was in need of shoes because my feet are swollen they had a pair but one of the shoes was chewed up and you couldn't Buckle it and they wanted to charge me 15 bucks.. the lady said because of the name of that brand that's why it was that that price.. so what product is torn or chewed up they want full price because of the name of the brand and I don't think that's right even if I wanted to wear them I could even wear one shoe because I could have been lakshit.. and then the lady was rude to me on top of it acting like it was disgusting that I would ask for a lower price.. I thought the thrift stores over there to help us out for low income families? It's sad I went to Walmart after this and found a pair for 1.00. And got good customer service and brand new shoes. read more

I have come here twice in the past 2 weeks. Both times I have found some great things. The first time I found a pair of brand new sunglasses. The price tag said $16.99. I got them for $2.99! I also found 2 Hawaii coffee mugs to add to my collection for $.50 each. The second time I went I found pajamas, a skirt, a sweater & a jacket for my husband. I got so much I needed to buy a tote bag to put them all in to take on the plane home. Clothing items are $3.75 unless marked otherwise & there are different color tags for 50% off each day. It's a big clean store with a varitey of items for everyone. read more

We've been dropping off items for the youth ranch about twice a month for three years. Yesterday we were there at the drive in to drop off some items, there were two young women working ignoring us and the gentleman waiting ahead of us. We were late for an appointment so my wife set our items by one of the racks telling one of the women she was in a hurry. Both women started yelling she couldn't do that and one grabbed the items and threw them in a box. I suggested she calm down a little which she didn't and we were told not to come back. She even went to the trouble of running out of the driveway to write down our license number as we drove down the street. Very strange business practice for a business that relies on donations. Many other organizations I can and will give to. So needless to say I won't be back. read more

Dropped off donations today, and I wasn't quite sure if they were ready to take them or not since they seemed to be busy. So I waited in my car until someone gave me directions or came to speak to me. One employee was yelling that She didn't know where she was taking my donations from and upon my confusion (I was inside a car and she was shouting outside it so I wasn't even sure she was speaking to me) she screamed I needed to open my trunk. It's just a really baffling way to be treated when you're giving away stuff to an organization, and uncalled for since I wasn't being rude or demeaning like some other donators might be. Long story short I made a Yelp account just to leave this one review because that's how upset I am. And I'm truth, the staff there are pushy most of the time, but never have they been outright malicious. I get it's hot and the work is hard, but this sort of thing is really in poor taste. read more
