I reflexively jumped and grabbed his hand because of the pain. Instead of checking on me, he started yelling and told me to just raise my hand if it hurt. When I tried to do that, my hand accidentally hit him in the face, which made him even angrier. At this point my mouth was numb and my teeth were already filed down, so I couldn't even speak properly. I became overwhelmed and started crying out of frustration, and he responded by telling me to "calm down," which was incredibly dismissive. After a few minutes, he continued the procedure but was very rough, jerking my mouth and handling me aggressively. I left the appointment red faced, upset, and in tears. Completely unprofessional behavior and zero compassion for a patient in pain. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone.

The receptionist, Susan is friendly and warm and makes you feel like family every time you walk in. We don't feel awkward coming here and she really makes this a painless experience. Nobody likes coming to the dentist but this isn't so bad. I've also found that they don't charge as much as other practices. Our other dentist in Deer Park wanted almost 7,000$ for 7 teeth removed, a full set of dentures and the other costs included while Baytown Family only asked for 4,000$. But Dr Hurd was recommended to me and I've had an ongoing issue with an ever-worsening FRONT tooth loosening after a facial injury many years ago. Dr Hurd was the first dentist I've seen who took this issue in hand, dealt with it immediately, and gave me a very positive outlook and prognosis. Not guaranteed but positive. I was expecting to lose this tooth either through eating or because it had to be removed. From the first interaction with this practice I was impressed. Insurance issues - resolved. Front desk - great. Nurses - Julie and Sneed (sp?) lovely, and Dr Hurd himself? So gentle, so caring, so kind, such a nice man. I've been to 'gentle dental' clinics and they don't know what they are talking about. Dr Hurd is an angel and he is the first dentist to whom I ever said "I could hug you" after my visit.
