I booked an appointment with Dr. Ali Manesh for a cracked tooth. Prior to the appointment, the practice sent me helpful text reminders and upon arrival, I received a detailed breakdown of expenses from the front desk attendant Yvonne. I appreciated having an up-front breakdown of costs to avoid any sticker shock later on. I was escorted to an examination room after a short wait and a dental assistant took three x-rays of my cracked tooth. Next, Dr. Manesh entered the room, examined my tooth, and administered a pulp vitality test to assess my sensitivity to hot or cold substances. I wasn't experiencing any pain in the tooth or sensitivity to hot or cold substances; just some discomfort when chewing on that side of my mouth. Dr. Manesh shaved the tooth down a bit since a jagged area of the tooth was causing some discomfort. Next, he told me I would need to return to my general dentist to get the tooth filled. I appreciated Dr. Manesh's thorough exam and clear explanations. I was also happy to learn that all I needed was a quick procedure and not an extensive root canal the endodontist that I had seen prior to Dr. Manesh had prescribed. Review for Ideal Endodontics - 1145 19th Street NW, Suite 314 (1 star) I was referred to Ideal Endodontics by my general dentist for a root canal re-treatment on two teeth. My initial consultation took place last week with Dr. Majlessi and unfortunately, my overall experience was deeply disappointing and upsetting. Upon arrival, I was extremely nervous, as dental work--especially of this nature--is already an anxiety-inducing experience. Thankfully, the receptionist greeted me with a warm smile, which briefly put me at ease. However, from that point forward, my comfort and well-being were not prioritized in the way a patient deserves. The only staff member who showed any genuine concern for me beyond the front door were the three dental assistants on duty (I wish I had time to get their names). They were kind, attentive, and walked me through the process of taking scans and X-rays. Dr. Majlessi, on the other hand, never acknowledged me with a greeting or introduced herself. Instead, she simply entered the room and immediately commanded me to open my mouth--without any words of welcome or even eye contact. This left me feeling completely unseen and frankly, violated. Things only got worse during my second visit when the actual root canal re-treatments were performed. During that appointment, I witnessed Dr. Majessi speaking to the dental assistants in a tone that was unprofessional, condescending, and at times outright disrespectful. Contrary to that, her whole persona changed when the other dentist came in. Just awful. Her passive-aggressive demeanor and dismissive attitude were shocking. At one point, she even directed rude and belittling remarks at a second assistant who briefly entered the room to assist with another matter. Her behavior was uncalled for, and I was appalled by how she treated her own team in front of a patient. No one--whether they are a patient or a professional colleague--deserves to be treated this way. Dental care should never come at the expense of dignity or basic human respect. Just because a patient may have STATE INSURANCE does not mean they deserve anything less than quality care and kindness. Remember those contracts keep you in business. I am writing this review to shed light on the kind of environment that exists at this location. I sincerely hope Ideal Endodontics holds its staff accountable for the way they treat patients and their team members. Patients deserve to feel respected, acknowledged, and safe. read more

It was less than ideal in two ways: my tooth still hurts, in a manner much like it did before, and they refused care unless I underwent a CBCT scan, a $280 expense that I had not expected. I refused the scan, but was told that they would not treat unless I agree to the charge. The scan wasn't used during the procedure and wasn't forwarded to the dentist who was doing the capping. Insurance didn't cover it---I believe they deem it medically unnecessary---so I had to pay out of pocket for it. If it's impossible to do the work without the scan, then the scan should be part of the stated price, not a surprise add-on. It's been a few months, and I thought the tooth would settle with time and care, but it still feels...funny, to put it lightly. I found another dentist, who verified that the root canal was partially done, leaving space for bacteria. Visiting Ideal Endo and getting capped drained my insurance for the year, so I'm working out how to get the necessary re-treatment. read more

I recommend Dr A Misra at WOODBRIDGE SPECIALIST CARE ENDODONTICS at 617 Harbor side street I went to her and she was smart intuitive and approached the matter with care and helpful etc. Pls don't waste your time or money with him, fake and insincere. He should not be in this profession. It seemed almost racial or prejudiced driven as I wear a scarf and look different. Differential treatment is never acceptable anywhere or in any profession. Aldo he was one foot out the door while I was talking like where you going? Where rushing to? Just don't come to work. I was referred to the endodontics by my primary dentist and I was really impressed reading the positive online reviews, but my eyes diverted from the negative ones - what a mistake on my part. So many things went wrong before, during, and after my experience at Ideal Endodontics. First - the receptionist erroneously claimed that my insurance would cover the consultation services. What a way to lie and reel in a potential customer during covid. Receptionist, "Hi, it looks like your insurance covers the things you need to get done." Me, "Are you sure? Here's my insurance number and everything, please call them and make sure that I'm covered." Receptionist calls back, "It's covered and you're good to go!" Second - I get to the office a few minutes before my appointment, and I ended up waiting for Dr. Darjani to finish with his previous patient. Mind you, this is a morning appointment, so I was already ticked that my time was not valued. 28 minutes later, Dr. Darjani comes in and gives me a two minute consultation that my root canal looked benign. He then recommended an CBCT x-ray that my insurance didn't cover, so obviously I wasn't going to pay $300 out-of-pocket. At this point, Dr. Darjani meandered back to his other patient while I worked through the paperwork with the receptionist. The receptionist told me that I had to pay an additional "$25 covid-19 fee," which I had asked why my insurance didn't cover the staff's PPE. The receptionist said it was "mandatory" now. I should have pushed harder why there was such a fee, because this becomes a significant detail later. Third - Two weeks later, I get a statement from the office saying that I owe $135 out-of-pocket. To my shock, I go to my dental insurance website and investigated the claims that they charged. I immediately called my dental insurance and they pointed out that the clinic wasn't allowed to charge this fraudulent "$25 covid-19 fee" because my insurance already covered it! Then, I had explained to them that the receptionist erroneously asserted that my insurance had covered everything and I did not have to pay anything out-of-pocket besides the $25 covid-19 fee. I'm just shocked that a two-minute consultation ends up costing me so much out-of-pocket. I'm pretty livid by my experience at Ideal Endodontics. This all could have been avoided if the receptionist just did what she was supposed to do - to confirm with the patient's insurance and ensure that they're covered to do the work. Even if things went smoothly with the front desk, the doctor had no regard of patient's time. There wasn't an apology for being late. I'm sure the doctor does stellar root canal operations and really helps alleviate pain for so many patients, but from this consultation experience, I couldn't have been more disappointed. This place left a really sour taste in my mouth. Be aware of the shady practices by this receptionist and office. You never *want* to go in for a root canal, but if you have to, you want to go to Ideal Endodontics. They were able to get me in for a same-day appointment and everyone I worked with there was exceedingly kind and competent. The office is very modern, and from the second you walk in they walk you through every step of what's about to happen to you from the amount they anticipate insurance will cover to the steps in any procedure. There are these huge TV screens and they show you on your x-ray exactly what's going to happen and verbally tell you before any new step or poke or prod happens. I can't remember her name, but the woman who had the cool shoes and rad hair who worked with the Dr. for my procedure also just made me feel safe--even when I started crying. I had a REALLY bad experience with a new dentist that led to needing a root canal which led me to being scared and traumatized, and obviously in pain, when I came in. Having someone treat me with respect and kindness even when I felt like a blubbering baby meant a lot, especially given how I was feeling when I arrived. I got a root canal at the Woodbridge office and had zero pain, during or after. I still don't know how it happened but I'm grateful. If I had to choose one word to describe Dr. Darjani-SKILLFUL If I had to choose one word to describe my experience/procedure-PAINLESS I myself have VERY SENSITIVE TEETH & GUMS, so of course, I was more than nervous when my general dentist said I needed a root canal. I was almost in tears. Then of course, talking to other people did not help. I got...it's gonna be awful, it hurts, it's excruciating pain, etc. Naturally, that made me even more scared. BUT THE OPPOSITE WAS TRUE ONCE I GOT THE PROCEDURE. Dr. Darjani is gentle, funny and makes the experience great. He definitely put my mind at ease. First, they numb you, they wait a bit and the procedure begins. Surprisingly, I actually don't remember too much about the actual root canal. That's how quick and effortless it was. The whole thing took about 35-40 minutes and was completely painless...I repeat..PAINLESS! The soreness afterwards was VERY minimal. I didn't need to take any pain meds or anything, which says a lot for me. My procedure was done on a Wed, by Saturday, I was 100% back to normal. Of course, I didn't see his partner, Dr. Manesh, but to my understanding, he is just as competent and also does a wonderful job. It just so happened that Dr. Darjani was in the office the week that I came. I cannot recommend this office enough! I had to have an emergency root canal after a crown and infection in my tooth. Dr Darjani worked me in on a Friday afternoon with zero notice. I arrived in tremendous pain and everyone in the office worked to help me, from easing the paperwork and insurance information, to helping me relax with a movie while I waited for the medications to take effect. As the doctor started the procedure, I was still in pain and he paused two different times to administer more medication and wait for it to take effect rather than leave me in discomfort. He was kind and patient and the procedure went off well. A year and a half later, and I was noticing a small amount of discomfort around the tooth and called to see if they might be willing to look at it again. They worked me in first thing the next morning, again, with a tremendously kind team of people at every turn, and Dr Darjani made a slight adjustment to my crown and I was out the door in less than 10minutes. While no one ever enjoys dental work, and certainly not having a root canal, Dr Darjani and his team made the entire process incredibly easy and as pleasant as possible at every step. read more

I was sent here by my dentist. Upon entering the office and going to a chair, no Staff member gave me an overview of what they planned to do or estimate costs. The dental assistant was not friendly. The endodontist came in to see me and very quickly performed tests without explanation. He decided I needed a root canal within 3 minutes. I tried to ask clarifying questions to which I received short answers. Upon exiting, the front desk then notified me I needed to pay a $50 copay. I have great dental insurance and this seemed absurd. I paid the $500 and went to another endodontist, (highly respected) to get a second opinion. He did scans and a pulp test, as well as took out the old filling on my infected tooth. He put in a medicated filling and told me to come back if the pain worsened, but most likely I did not need a root canal. All of that was a $15 co-pay. Ideal Endodontics then contacted me requested $88 more. Ideal Endodontics seems to be a money sucking machine. I suggest not going here, and getting a second opinion if you do. read more

I needed a root canal last minute and Ideal was able to get me in the very next morning. The dental assistant, Haydee was calm, patient, and very kind. I was much more relaxed by the start of my procedure. Dr. Manesh was great. I found him also to be very calm and patient. I appreciated that he explained what was going on during the procedure without overdoing it. I've never had a root canal done and wasn't familiar with the process. Even though I only went in for a consultation/preliminary exam, I couldn't be happier with my experience. Dr. Manesh is the most informative, sincere, and caring oral doctor I've ever seen. My regular dentist sent me in for a referral for a root canal treatment, and Dr. Manesh spent at least 20 minutes discussing the situation with me. He answered all my questions in detail and made sure I understood what he was thinking. He told me many times, "If it were me sitting in your chair, this is what I would do." My dentist referred me to Dr. Manesh in regards to possibly needing a root canal. He was very thorough in his diagnostics, and encouraged me to do a scan before beginning my root canal procedure. I was a little hesitant, but it turned out that the scan indicated my tooth was perfectly healthy and there was no need for the procedure. I'm really thankful that he encouraged me to do the scan, and in addition for the time he took to explain everything to me regarding the situation. I went to Ideal Endodontics about 2 months ago. Like any in-network provider the cost was over the roof. My main issue is that the dentist performed an uncovered test on me without telling me before that it is not covered under my insurance and I was forced later to pay for it. I contacted my insurance to oppose this and they told me they would have to check with the dentist's office first to approve it. The office denied it and I ended up paying for the service I never request and never knew it wasn't covered. Great. I loved my last endodontist, but they were no longer on my insurance. So, I read some reviews and went here. Glad I did. Close to my office. Dr. Ali was great. Front desk staff was great, and the dental assistant was amazing. She held my hand when the doc had needles in my mouth, which was like, wonderful actually. They were super cheerleaders throughout the whole thing. I felt like I just had a great round of therapy, rather than having a root canal. YES, it DOES seem odd that they would rather turn down a cash-paying (not insurance) customer than run the risk that I'm lying (???) when I say I have a bad tooth and my dentist told me to see an endo. I saw Dr. Darjani for an evaluation to assess the need for a root canal. Rather than examining the tooth medically, Dr. Darjani wanted to immediately take a CBCT scan of the tooth. Not surprisingly, CBCT scans are not covered by insurance and his office would get to charge me $200 for the honor of being exposed to additional radiation (they have already taken two x-rays). Dr. Darjani did not have a good answer to my query about what was the point of taking the x-rays if then you're going to assume I need a CBCT scan too. He also offered to do the root canal on the spot, again without having even examined my tooth. I left. This practice clearly prioritizes $$ over patients. read more

From our very first contact with Ideal Endodontists, we have been pleasantly surprised at the way this Practice is run. Office Manager Courtney was friendly, responsive and thorough. When I called to book an appointment for my wife she took time to familiarize herself with the particulars of the case. Courtney had to take more than the usual time to check out our insurance situation, then scheduled an appointment at a time that was convenient for us. When we arrived, we were once again impressed. Cortney, while juggling phone calls and other administrative responsibilities, welcomed us warmly and patiently took the information needed to open my wife's patient file. After a very short wait, Nuria, the Dental Assistant came out and took my wife into the office for her X-Rays. Rather than just take the pictures, Nuria engaged my wife in light conversation, thereby making a tedious procedure pleasant. When the X-Rays were completed, Nuria came out to the Waiting Area and escorted me to where my wife had been taken for her evaluation. The office is bright and spotless, with all of the newest equipment and technology. My wife's X-Rays were already being displayed on a large monitor in front of her chair. After a few moments, Dr. Manesh came in and introduced himself. It was immediately clear that he knew what he was doing and had a great "bedside manner". He took a great deal of time to explain in understandable language what the X-Rays showed and answered all our questions. He also was happy to answer questions about his background and training. Even before we were finished, Courtney appeared with a printed Active Treatment Plan that described in detail procedures, costs, and what was covered by our insurance. Just home from a root canal and was so moved by my positive experience I had to write a brief review, which I don't do often: As with every other reviewer here, I only have highly positive things to say about my OVERALL experience with this root canal process. Starting with Ruth at reception who, aside from being just the nicest, most outgoing person, was wonderful & efficient in handling my scheduling, in processing, and insurance matters. Then there is the environment, which is fresh, comfortable, modern minimalist, with a great Sirius music channel streaming. And finally, most importantly, there was the actual root canal: words fail about how great my experience was with Dr Manesh & Toya, his dental assistant/partner. My experience at Ideal Endodontics was excellent. The office was exceptionally clean, and the receptionist at the desk was very helpful and friendly. My appointment started on time as scheduled, I was so relieved because I came to Dr. Darjani in excruciating pain!!! I could barely eat or drink and my gums were extremely inflamed. Dr. Darjani has such a calm and comforting demeanor you immediately feel at ease. He explained the procedure while his assistant prepped me for the root canal. During the procedure, Dr. Darjani continually checked to see how I was feeling and assured me things were going well. I've had quite a few root canals in the past; Dr. Manash put those nightmare experiences to rest by his skillful, patient and expert handling of 3 root canals....all in one sitting.
