Honestly, I don't understand what I paid for. $250 for 6 minutes of nothing. I was referred by a local dentist. There was no real analysis of the situation or my condition. The doctor was shockingly gruff and arrogant. It was very clear that his goal was simply to frighten me into one or more thousand-plus dollar procedures - regardless of whether they might be needed. The term "rip off" comes strongly to mind. Dr Noguera and her staff are compassionate and professional. I went there referred from my dentist for a cracked tooth and a compromised infected old root canal. It took two visits. There was NO PAIN during either treatment. She uses a machine to administer anesthesia which is totally painless. She uses a new technique called "Gentle Wave" to do a root canal. It is so quick and minimally invasive. Staff sends very clear post op instructions email and calls the next day to see how you are doing. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. I was forced to have a root canal after injuring the tooth root of a molar that also has a crown. I was very concerned about the entire root canal process after reading online that the tooth involved, tooth number three, is particularly tricky and requires a lot of skill in performing a root canal. After my dentist and oral surgeon highly recommended Dr. Noguera's office, and after researching many endodontists online, I decided on Dr. Noguera. I'm very glad that I did. Every part of Dr. Noguera's practice is exceptional. Her office, which is conveniently located on K Street, is clean, bright, open, and very welcoming. Dr. Noguera and her staff members, who have been with Dr. Noguera for many years, are very professional and knowledgeable in answering every imaginable question about the root canal procedure. Dr. Noguera also has the finest cutting edge technology. For example, she has 3D cone beam x-ray technology that allows her to examine the tooth from every angle, even from the bottom. She also displays x-rays on a computer screen easily visible from the chair so that patients can look at the tooth in detail as Dr. Noguera explains her diagnosis. An added advantage is that Dr. Noguera uses a painless anesthesia wand that makes the numbing process totally pain free. Most importantly, though, is that Dr. Noguera is very skilled at giving root canals. She is exceptionally attentive to details, and she is very careful to take every step to preserve the integrity of the tooth and of any crown that has to be drilled through for the root canal. I was referred to Dr. Noguera from my regular dentist for a root canal because of a calcified root. I had to come here on several occasions and had such a great experience. Dr. Noguera was very thorough and filled me in step by step what she was doing with my tooth, which is greatly appreciated for someone who doesn't like surprises. She also did not charge me for a $300 X-ray which she easily could have done. The procedure was a bit pricey as my insurance did not cover it all but not charging me for the X-ray really helped me, and I am very appreciative of that. I honestly don't know what I would have done had I not found Dr. Noguera. She was a lifesaver for a virulent tooth abscess that I had. I ended up having 4 surgeries on the tooth & 2 courses of different antibiotics. I would highly recommend her & honestly, there is no one else I would ever go to for a root canal or abscess (neither of which I hope to have again, but you never know). Also, her practice is extremely comfortable & the way the novocaine is dispensed (through a tube, like an IV into the mouth) is very unique & I never felt anything during any of the 4 procedures that I had. I was referred to this office by my normal dentist for tooth pain that she could not pin down. My dentist had said "good new is that it's not a root canal" but wanted to be sure that someone specialized took a look. I went to Dr. Noguera's office for a consultation, they took my insurance card, everything seemed fine. When I went back she did some pain testing, and then gave me Novocaine so that the tests wouldn't bother me for the rest of the day. As the needle was in my gum she said that I needed a root canal and as soon as I was numb she would get started. I was in complete shock and as best I could said "WHAT" through the tools in my mouth. After going back and forth a little she finally explained what was happening and that I could wait but it would just get worse, so I agreed to have it done that day. One of the nurses came in and sort of explained what would happen and that it would cost $1,975, but because it would take 2 appointments the cost could be spread across two appointments. I was stunned at the number, and asked about insurance. She said I would pay the full cost up front, they would file a claim with my insurance and then I would be reimbursed a substantial portion. I guess the procedure went well, so I didn't need a second appointment, but that meant that I did end up owing a very unexpected $1,975 that day, and was again assured that I would be reimbursed by my insurance. I spoke with my insurance after the fact, and they told me that Dr. Noguera does not now, and has never had, a contract with them, and that my plan does not do reimbursements at all, even if she was in network. So I called Dr. Noguera's office to talk it through with them, was put on hold mid-sentence, and then told that she does not have a contract with any insurance company. Though the whole confusion was likely not her fault, the woman I spoke with on the phone didn't sound apologetic for the confusion, or in any way sympathetic. While this may be the world's most beautiful root canal (I have no idea), Dr. Noguera and her staff did not communicate well throughout this process, and I am taken aback by how poor the bedside manner was throughout the whole process. Insurance is always awful, that is not unique to this office or experience, but their actions made the situation so much worse. read more

*** Charged exorbitant fee for fancy X-ray that health insurance doesn't cover with no advanced warning. **** I ended up being on the hook for over $400 for just a quick consultation. I was referred by my dentist for minor tooth pain. I expected maybe to pay $100 since I was seeing a specialist. Dr. Noguera ordered a 3D X-ray which I was told after we were done was $350. I discussed it with the office and I was told that the X-ray isn't covered by almost all health insurance policies. I called the next day and expressed frustration that I was on the hook for almost all of the $580 dollar bill for a quick consultation and was given no notice about an expensive X-ray that they knew I was very likely going to be paying out of pocket. After some back and fourth the office refunded me 52 dollars. All in all, my out of pocket bill will likely be about $425. In the office's defense they argued that the X-ray gave a lot of information about what the issue was. I would argue that it gave practically no extra information that the $30-60 traditional X-Ray that my dentist did before I got to Dr. Noguera's office (That X-Ray was covered by my health insurance) Dr. Noguera, was fine and her staff was friendly. Honestly I would have been happy with the experience had they just given a heads up that this was going to be really really expensive and maybe unnecessary before ordering this test. I'm just a photographer - every dollar matters for me. read more

Dr. Noguera is the best! I was suffering from a 20-year-old root canal that was infected, and my endodontist was having trouble locating the area to treat, so sent me to her to get an MRI equivalent of a tooth. She and her staff were great at facilitating that and providing the information to my doctor. But they went way above and beyond. When I was experiencing serious pain Dr. Noguera shot me up with Novocain, provided over-the-counter pain relief medication and called my endodontist to let him know my situation was urgent -- and the result was he saw me the same afternoon and performed the re-treatment, working well beyond 6:00 to make it happen. If not for Dr. Noguera's personal care and attention I doubt I would have been treated so quickly by my endodontist. Dr. Noguera is now on my A list of medical providers. I hope I won't need her services again, but if I do that's where I'll head. read more

I can not begin to say how lucky I am that I found DC Endodontic Center! As someone who has had a deep fear of dentist my entire life, I was really scared of finding out I needed two root canals. One of which was an emergency and was quickly booked an appointment next day. Both times, they made sure to explain everything to me, ensuring I was always comfortable. The nurses are sweet and really kind, keeping a relaxing environment and never pushy or cold! I was never in any pain, and anytime they senses any discomfort at all, they stopped immediately and talked me through everything. Plus they utilize some really cool technology (even how you get the numbing shot is a really cool machine that caused me no pain at all...seriously!!) Post op... I have minimal discomfort after both root canals and recovery was a breeze! I will never go anywhere else!! They do require full payment up front and you get remembered by your insurance, but they filled my claim same day and was processed quickly. Worth every penny! I made a same day appointment for an emergency root canal. I left a message on the office voicemail and received a phone call back within 8 minutes of the office opening. I was given a cancellation spot for 2 hours later. I filled out 10 minutes worth of paperwork and waited for about 5 minutes before being called back to a room. I was given one x-ray because the x-rays that were sent out from my dentist did not include a clear picture of the root of the problem tooth. Dr. Noguera then came in and conducted a thorough, but not invasive or uncomfortable examination of my problem tooth. After the exam, she advised that I did not likely need a root canal. I was anxious and uncomfortable as a result of my prior poor care and worried about leaving her office with no care plan for an exposed and raw tooth. She sensed my anxiety and personally made phone calls to two local dentists to determine whether they could get me in for crown work immediately. The second one she called agreed to work me in. Her exceptional front office staff then emailed all of my records over to the new dentist. I walked to the new dentist and was fitted for a permanent crown and had it installed within 2 hours. Dr. Noguera's manner was calm, thorough, thoughtful, responsive and professional. She went above and beyond to listen to me (this is important because it's not always true with medical professionals, esp with an anxious woman), calm my fears, help me with my specific immediate needs and prepare my next caregiver with the details he needed to continue my care. No one who hasn't had a root canal wants to get one. That was all too true of me. My tooth pain started back in the "before times", November 2019. I thought I could wish it away or maybe it would calm down. Well, it did, until it didn't. I had a wonderful referral to Dr. Noguera in February 2020, just as the world was beginning to change. She told me that my symptoms, exam and the 3D cone scan indicated a hidden additional nerve root and I really would need a root canal treatment. Still, foolishly, I waited. Then last weekend my tooth let me know in no uncertain terms it was time. (You know when you can't drink your morning coffee with excruciating pain, it's time!) Now, here we are full-on pandemic times. From the moment I called Dr. Noguera, on Mother's Day Sunday morning no less, she was warm, understanding and above all else compassionate. She gave me instructions on how to manage the pain until I could get in to see her. When I arrived, my entire experience couldn't have been better. Her entire staff is friendly and reassuring and professional. I actually was so relaxed during the procedure that I almost fell asleep. I had to catch myself from snoring, lol!! The sounds of the hi-tech Gentle Wave machine, that irrigates the canal and with some kind of ultrasonic waves also disinfects all the nooks and crannies, was like a white noise machine to me. I'm now 3 days post-procedure and the discomfort that I had after the numbing medicine wore off is nearly gone. Speaking of numbing, the best part was NO BIG NEEDLE! Dr. Noguera uses a very small gauge needle that is connected to tubing that slowly pumps the lidocaine, ZERO PAIN! I can't recommend her highly enough and I'm a very discerning patient having gone overseas to have spine surgery with the best spine surgeon for my particular needs. My advice is be a discerning consumer and go to the best! Dr. Noguera is experienced, willing to share her knowledge in detail, and truly kind. Such a refreshing experience!! read more

I was referred to this office by my general dentist, who is wonderful, experienced, and quite pleasant. I trusted him to send me to an endodontist for a referral. He sent me to Dr. Noguera's office. I had initially spoken with the front desk, who did not ask why I was coming in, nor did they ask for any previous xrays or other diagnostic imaging. Upon arrival, the front desk person was very curt and rude. They had absolutely no clue as to who had spoken with me at the time of my booking and told me that I could not be seen because they had no xrays or CT's of mine. I had to wait while they retrieved my reports from previous dentists. Dr. Noguera is smart and very knowledgeable. She is cold, curt, and lacks appropriate bedside manner, but very knowledgeable. She spoke to me for 15 minutes and explained to me what she needed to do and charged me $200. I have been to three endodontists before her and have never been treated badly and had to pay for it. When I challenged the consultation fee, she told me that it was her time I was taking up and that was her fee. In all honestly, I would have gladly paid it without hesitation or a second thought if her staff or she would have been friendly and acted like they appreciated my business. I am in private practice myself, and I don't care what type of practice you have, you are in a business of CUSTOMER SERVICE and you treat your patients well and you should at least pretend that you care. She told me she would call me in a week once her office retrieved my CT report and let me know what I should do next. Obviously, I received no call from her nor her incompetent office staff about my report. She behaved very arrogantly and it was obvious to me that she did not need my business, which is exactly why she will NOT be getting it! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Noguera regularly for the past few months, to resolve some complicated dental issues I've had. I was referred to her by my regular dentist, after an emergency situation that had me in a lot of pain. Dr. Noguera immediately put me at ease and helped me navigate the process of getting better. My experience with Dr. Noguera's office has been excellent -- while my dental issues have been stressful and scary, she and her staff have been extremely compassionate and helpful. Dr. Noguera was extremely attentive and always seemed genuinely concerned with my wellbeing. She and her staff accomodated me when I needed an emergency visit, and Dr. N even communicated with me on nights and weekends to make sure I was doing okay. Everyone on staff, from the receptionists to the assistants, is warm, friendly, and helpful. I never felt like I was being persuaded to get unnecessary treatment, and the office was very accomodating and helpful when it came to payments and insurance billing. I have had 2 root canals done by Dr. Noguera. The second was a re-do on a root canal by another dentist. I saw three other endodontists, none of whom could find any problem. Dr. Noguera has the most sophisticated equipment, i.e., a three-dimensional X-ray, found the problem and successfully redid the root canal. She and all her employees are kind and likeable. She explains what she is doing very clearly every step of the way. She listens to what her patients say; she honestly pays attention!! While nobody would choose to have a root canal, the procedure was really not unpleasant. I had no anxiety; I felt fully at ease the whole time, and there was absolutely no pain involved. Simply awesome and some of the highest quality medical care I've found in DC. I was referred to Dr. Noguera by my dentist, Dr. Ingber (also awesome and conveniently located in the same building) after waking up with terrible jaw pain. She opened up her office early to see me immediately that morning, despite my lack of an appointment, and communicated extensively with Ingber throughout the morning to make sure they got the right diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Noguera took the time to listen and to explain, both the various tests she ordered and what I could expect at each step, including the cost (which wasn't cheap but also not as pricey as you would expect given that the place looks more like a fancy spa than a dental office.) Ended up with a root canal (ugh) but she was careful to make sure I was never in any pain, and I was done inside of 45 minutes. She and her staff are clearly real experts, the whole process from start to finish just went seamlessly. Plus, everyone I interacted with was just plain nice, which you really need when you're dealing with a nasty toothache on a cold january morning. read more
