Go to Bailey! She is incredible! Very fun personality and listened to every request I had, giving me the best men's haircut I've ever been given. She gave me a great low taper fade with beautiful texture on the top and the lady before me came out with some gorgeous curls and color. A picture says a thousand words, right? Now, TO BE FAIR, they offered to have me back to get it corrected, and they were very apologetic about what happened. But the damage is done, and going back and risking having my hair ruined even more (if that's even possible), is something I'm just not willing to do. My hair is dark, thick, and was 100% virgin. I don't use any hair products at all aside from shampoo, conditioner, and a every-other-month coconut oil overnight treatment. All I wanted was a solid blonde on one half of my head. For roughly $120!, this is what I got instead. I was told that "it will even out after 2-3 washes with purple shampoo". OK so, I paid that much money, to have to wait that many washes for it to look half decent? So I did what she said, and washed it 1x after 48 hours (in fact, I waited longer than that by a few hours just to be safe!) And all it did was make it even worse! I only left the purple shampoo on, followed by purple conditioner, for a grand total of 5 minutes (I know because I literally set a timer on my phone to be careful). The salon itself seemed upscale upon walking in, so I'm really floored. The stylist I had... left a lot to be desired. She was unprofessional beyond just messing the hair up, and I have a feeling she was under the influence of something frankly. I didn't even bother asking for a refund, because at this point I just want to move on and forget about the whole thing. Now I have to shell out who knows how much more money elsewhere, to get this nonsense fixed. But hey, if anybody from there sees this, feel free to offer me a refund, or hell, even a partial refund!, because lord knows I need it to compensate for how much I'm about to shell out for what was supposed to be a simple bleach and tone. Warning to dark haired people like me - if you go blonde, BE VERY CAUTIOUS and do your research before letting anyone touch your hair. Otherwise you can get a mess of blonde, orange, yellow, and even patches of gray! read more

Identities the Salon - After over 48 hours after the appointment and 5 minutes of purple shampoo / conditioner later, here we are - Hair Salons Near Me - Kalamazoo, Michigan

I'm no expert at salons, but a couple of months ago it was time for my twice-a-decade haircut. Identities was nearby and they were open at 6:30pm, so in I went. I spoke with my stylist about what I wanted, and she delivered. As luck would have it, I'm expected to attend a wedding this weekend, so I have to look "presentable." Back to Identities! My previous stylist wasn't available, but the receptionist found another stylist who could accommodate my last-minute timeline. Everyone was friendly, everyone seemed like a real pro. One quirky thing about this establishment is that each stylist/colorist/etc. is his or her own business. Some take credit cards, some don't. The receptionist up front can help you book any of them, but you pay each individually. (I have no complaints at all about my experience at Identities, but I'm simply not capable of writing a gushing, five-star review of a salon. Perhaps that will be on my to-do list if I'm ever reincarnated as someone with a fashion sense.) read more

I used to love coming here for their great customer service. But I decided trust them to take my virgin dark brown hair and turn it into mushroom blonde balayage (the pictures below) and it turned out NOTHING CLOSE to what I asked for. The entire time the stylist kept telling me "your hair is cooperating so well" "we're going to get you as blonde as possible" and this is what the end result was. Now I have streaky caramel brown "highlights" that are not even blended properly, which to me feels like she completely disregarded my initial request and just did whatever she would've done to someone with thinner, lighter hair. I have thick, coarse, dark brown hair so clearly she didn't realize it wouldn't work the same as the next person! I called an hour after I got home from my appointment and asked if she could fix it. The stylist didn't get back to me until the next day and even then she never talked to me personally, she had the receptionist pass along the message. They then told me couldn't get me in for another 3 weeks! Not only do I have to put my hair through more damage to have it fixed, but now I have to go the rest of the time being with a botched hair coloring. I genuinely trusted this salon to do a decent job and I have never been more disappointed. read more

Went there before a few years ago and had a great experience. Went back there this week to get my hair done before my wedding. Waited TWO HOURS past my appointment,and the receptionist did nothing but stare at her phone until I came up and asked her what the hell was going on. And then when she finally got to me she said "ill give you ten dollars off for the wait"......I was there for six hours total-ten dollars really doesn't help much when I spent all of my saturday there. It was horrible. And she was also extremely scatter brained, took her 25 minutes to mix up the color, then she just kept saying really weird and rude things. Not to mention my hair looked horrible. She left me under the dryer to go smoke a cigarette so I had to take myself out of it. Worst experience ever. Never wanted to cry over hair. read more

Excellent manicures. I received a great manicure from Cindy. She took a lot of time with my manicure and did an excellent job. Everything was sanitary and Cindy was detail-oriented. She allowed me to test out a few different colors on my nails before selecting the nail polish I wanted. Very friendly and the best cuticle work of any manicure I've had. By far the best place to get a professional massage in the whole Kalamazoo area! Also, almost all stylist there spend a good 5-10 minutes actually talking to you about what you want out of your cut and color. They talk you through it first and make sure they you are all on the same page before they dive in. Salon is clean and welcoming and staff is always friendly! read more
