I had an Excellent experience with Ellie. I thought the illusions were so much fun! The cake was incredible; it was definitely one of my favorite parts of the exhibit. This is especially good for people who like to pose for pictures or those of us who like to challenge ourselves to like the process. We (the photographer and I) had the entire place to ourselves, so we took a stroll around. I could see that if there were more people, we'd have to be strategic about where to start. It's a good time if you're in Playa and want to spend a little time in a museum.

Once inside we paid at a tiny kiosk then they takes you to the entrance. Once inside the museum you wait in a theatre for your guide collect you and to explain the art and take pictures for you. You will be given special sockets to wear as to not damage the art on the floor. The museum takes the top floor of the building. Amazing what you see through the lens of your camera. The building use to be a cinema and has been converted to a museum, Well worth a visit. The artist use to live in Playa Del Carmen, now lives in Italy. It's hard to explain it's a must see on your bucket list. To see the illusions through the lens of your camera or smartphone. My favorite part was the tour conducted by Melissa who happens to also be a great artist herself. She did an amazing job of engaging us in a historical perspective of Frida, her works and her life. Instead, we had a tour that lasted about 1 hour followed by time on our own to revisit or explore parts that we did not stop at during the tour. This is not Casa Azul in Mexico City but it was worth my time and money.

The staff were very professional and helpful. I loved one painting so much and was allowed to take a photo. Well after we left, I could not get this painting out of my mind. I lost the card she gave me, but easily found them on Facebook. We communicated via FB Messenger and a few weeks later our painting arrived. Could not ask for better.

Felipe is a private guide I've used on numerous occasions over the years. I would suggest any and everyone traveling close to Yucatán visit this site. Our visit to Cenote was the first stop of a bus tour. We were greeted by a shaman who blessed and prayed over our entire group. We purchased a few souvenirs and then dined on some amazing food at the outdoor restaurant and enjoyed a little show while we ate. We then walked the grounds to explore and learn more about the Mayans. The Cenote was truly an astonishing sight. While I didn't get to take a dip in the water, just standing inside this amazing wonder was super breathtaking! I've seen pictures of cenotes, but never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would be standing inside of one. After visiting the cenote, we headed over to the tequila tasting! Literally each and every tequila we tasted was smooth and quite delicious! I ended up purchasing four bottles of flavored tequila, which I cannot wait to share with my friends back in the states.

I believe Chichen Itza is a one of the new seven wonders of the world because it's among the best-preserved and largest archaeological sites in the world. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I'm still glad I got the opportunity to visit Chichen Itza. So much history! The culture of the Mayans; their way of life, the ingenuity and the science are fascinating and amazing. Be prepared to experience some tropical heat. I recommend going as early as you can to avoid crowds and the heat. It gets hot under the glaring Sun. There is no shade around the main Pyramid. A good guide or a tour company also is very helpful. I found the history provided by our tour company to be very inspiring, insightful and interesting, yet sad at the same time. As you get closer, there are parking areas that charge around 70-80 pesos. We accidentally drove into the lot and ended up paying 126 pesos. I didn't see any clear signage at first, but the guard mentioned there's a paper posted at the booth when you enter; so just be aware. Once inside, there are actually two separate entrance fees (state and federal), which together came out to about $45 USD. There is a money exchange on-site, and I was able to convert my US dollars to pesos with no fee, which was very convenient. Before entering, there are food spots and vendors. Be mindful that they are pretty strict about what you can bring inside. If you bring restricted items, you'll either have to take them back to your car or pay a small fee to leave them there. Inside, there are vendors everywhere selling beautiful handmade items. It's nice to see, but it can get overwhelming since you'll be approached frequently. Some will say items are "$1," but once you get closer, prices can be higher; so just keep that in mind. There's a LOT of walking. The day I went was hot and sunny, so definitely dress in breathable clothes and wear comfortable shoes. Even with the heat, I had a great time exploring, taking pictures, and just taking in the history. I heard there are two cenotes on-site, but I only found one. You can't swim in them, but they're still beautiful to see. There are some shaded areas and places to sit, which helped with breaks. I also overheard a guide mention that medical assistance is available near the entrance, which is good to know, especially in the heat. We had about a 2-hour drive to get there, and the road is long with very limited stops. Gas stations and bathrooms are scarce, so plan ahead; bring snacks, drinks, and make sure you're prepared before heading out. Overall, it's absolutely a must-see if you're traveling to Mexico. Just come prepared, stay hydrated, and be ready for a full day of exploring!
