Excellent experience. Ambiance, service and food a 10. Our server Tino was so friendly and super attentive. The breakfast was absolutely delicious authentic and full of flavor. The café de la olla, traditional Mexican coffee, was definitely one of the highlights. It was perfectly brewed, warm, aromatic, and had that comforting, traditional touch that makes it so special. The breakfast platter special is totally worth it. It includes fresh pan dulce, fruit, natural juice, and café de la olla. Everything was beautifully presented, the portions were generous, and the price was very affordable. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a traditional, flavorful, and budget-friendly Mexican breakfast. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Will be dreaming of this place for a long time. We have been in Mexico for a week eating lots of amazing food and we all agree this was our favorite spot throughout the trip. Everyone brought it up multiple times when deciding our favorite meal of the trip. Great lunch spot after hitting some cenotes. I'm vegetarian and love that they had great options for me as well. Vibe 5 stars, service 5 stars, authentic delicious food 5 stars. Will recommend this place to all friends and family who explore the cenotes near by. Enjoy ! Very fine authentic establishment. The hospitality and the ambience was something I hadn't experienced yet here in Mexico. Everything about it was perfect. The staff, the look, the vibe, and of course the food. I was thrilled that I finally found a place worth writing home about. The menu is small and the tamales are quite different than what I have ever tried in the US. We decided to try 3 since you only live once right? Very large tamales. Really one should have been enough...but I am a fat kid and love to try all the things. My favorite was the soft tamale (tamale colado). It has boiled eggs, pork, chicken, and peppers. The sauces were both wonderful. One was tomato based and the other was green habanero(my fav in the area). The place was immaculately clean too! Amazing food, beautiful rustic ambiance and great service - food delivered early. Ate breakfast here, loved the huevo revolta (scrambled eggs -optional) red chilaquiles (sin cebolla and mucho picante) good for those who don't eat meat or for eggitarians. Loved the vegan tamale. I'm pretty sure the pollo tamales taste good (didn't have much luck as it was a vegetarian day for me). Had cafe de olla- really refreshing and good kick start for the day. read more

This small, open-air restaurant has giant, delicious tamales for 40 pesos ($2 USD) each, huge juice beverages and laid-back, hip vibe. The food is great and the service was very good. They (now) have a menu, unlike what other reviewers have posted. This seems to be more a tourist place than a local hangout (apparently the restaurant is featured in a travel guide). The night we had dinner here there was a table of Chileans to our right, Americans to our left, and a group of French girls showed up later. Ourselves - Dutch, French and Singaporean. Our waiter / the manager (?) was busy giving everyone advice on how to get to various tourist attractions, how to take the bus, etc. I could see myself having lunch there everyday... read more

Tamales!!!!! Spotted this little place when entering town and was looking to go and today was the day! They have other things in the menu but of course you go to a Tamalería to eat tamales. We ordered one of each... all delicious. My favorite was the "Colado" closely followed by the Chachacua. The vegan one was really good.. the hoja santa flavor was spectacular! Pan de espolón was #4 but it was pretty good non the less. They didn't have any beers or wine on their menu. This wasn't a meal, it was a a sting experience! Highly recommend! read more

We enjoyed dinner here one evening while staying in Valladolid. The Pan de Espelon tamale was so good as were the salsas that were served as well. My daughter had the Poc-chuc and really liked it as well. Service was great and so were the drinks. I like the decor and ambiance of this small eatery right on the corner of an intersection that was not too noisy. read more

We had the worst meal here during our time in Mexico. Don't bother eating here, find another place. I had two different 'tamales' but they appeared to be steamed then deep fried and were dried out, hard and tasteless. My family had vegetarian tamales that were wrapped in banana leaves and steamed, but they reported that the tamales were dry and very tasteless. I think we were served the previous days left overs. Also they only serve one type of beer that was bland. Bottom line, find another place. read more

Wow! The tamales were huge! They were also delicious. I loved the two most traditional tamales offered on the menu: one is baked and the other is soft. The red sauce they are served with is delicious!!! Super helpful waiters. They even carried my food a block away to the car cuz we ordered it to go. I would definitely eat here again. Next time my husband and I will order 3 tamales and share, cuz 4 tamales was too much to finish cuz they are huge tamales. (Normally of regular sized tamales we eat 5-6 tamales.) read more

Fantastic unusual tamale where you actually eat the leafy wrapper, herbal and delicious, filled with white beans and pumpkin seeds. Chile relleno a cut above with a red chile sauce and habanero salsa. Inviting garden with string lights and wood tables. We found it by walking by and were totally charmed. read more

Alejandro speaks very good English and is an even better chef. His tamales were amazing. He makes different verities daily but if you are lucky you will get the pork ones with egg and some kind of little black bean. They are larger than the typical ones you find in Norte Mexico and are cook in plantain wraps. Anyway you have to have one to make your trip more special. read more

I'm not a big tamale fan, but these are good. Even better, they usually have a "special" if you ask for it. Sopa de Lima is the best I've had in Yucatan, and I've probably spent a year here all told. Big bowl of chicken breast soup (stew) with all the correct seasonings. If available, get the chiles rellenos , in an amazing sauce of capers, black olives, and masa. I'm going to pump the owner for the recipe, I think it's his own creation. He is the chef, and seems to love talking food with the customers. Un experienca muy amable! Simple menu with three tamales to choose from during the week. We had all three: puerco pibil, which is a traditional yucutan buried and cooked over coals pork dish, chicken similar style, and vegetarian. Great prices and large portions. The food was reasonable, but the price was much higher than expected. We had the pork and black beans, a chicken tamal, a veggie tamal, a grilled pork dish and two waters for 420 pesos. There was no written menu and the waiter seemed reluctant to give us any of the prices. He gave us a couple prices by holding up fingers, even though he spoke English well. He walked to the store across the street to get us our waters and more than doubled the price in the process. Maybe we're just used to eating great food for much less at the many taquerias in town. This seemed like decent food at fancy restaurant prices with slightly above taqueria atmosphere. read more
