Newly opened this place is very cute. It's so close to our house it's great. They have separate rooms for breakfast an dinner. It sits on the river with indoor an outdoor seating. They have a limited breakfast menu but there options are good. They have more options on the lunch an dinner menu. The food is good but they are still working out the kinks. The pancakes an omelets were good an the salad I had at dinner was very good. Hopefully as they work the kinks out things will get better. Service is great always. read more

Came with a girlfriend for a quick lunch on the water. I didn't expect the food to be excellent! First the appetizer potato boats were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Secondly the brisket sandwich was so tender and tasty. We will be back for sure. read more

My husband and I came here for a quiet weekend away before we welcome our first baby and it was perfect. Perfectly quiet & relaxing which was exactly what we were looking for. The rooms were clean, plenty of towels & they offered a continental breakfast (coffee, muffins, danishes etc - weekends only.) The bed was SO comfortable, I almost didn't want to leave it! The owners are so welcoming & friendly, you'll feel like you're at you're own home. There are boat slips and a boat launch so you can bring your boat to take out, too. The view is stunning and we can't wait to come back when the restaurant & bar are finished! The view itself is something to come back for. There are a couple restaurants near by, we checked out both of them and both were really good! One even delivers if you don't want to make the trip out. If you're looking for a quiet getaway this is your place. The closest gas station & grocery store is 15 minutes away, so still close if they're needed but don't expect there to be tons and tons to do in the area. 10/10 recommend! read more

Group of 5 went for breakfast. I had the 3 egg omelette with bacon, jalapeños and cheese, hash browns and biscuit. My wife enjoyed the bacon egg and cheese on Texas toast and she wants to go get it again. One friend had the sausage and gravy and also reported very good. Another friend had a bowl with stone ground grits bacon and eggs and also reported very good. All in all everyone enjoyed their meal and want to return. This is a wonderful resort and a great location. There is some construction going on now as they prepare to open the restaurant and bar. The rooms are wonderful and the beds are the bomb. This will be the perfect spot to visit when all construction is done near the end of May. Can't wait to return. read more

We visited this place for the third time today and the service was horrible. The servers had some dispute over who would have to take the orders at our table; they didn't even come get out drink order for about 10 minutes. Once we got a server, they didn't know the menu and forgot one of our meals (this is the short version). read more

We have been checking to see when this place would open happen to drive down here tonight and it is the first night that they are open. Very friendly service and very good food the ribs were very tender and fall off the bone. Nice live music as well for opening night they have their act together. read more

Had the hamburger and pork egg rolls. Asked for both burgers medium, they came out well done. The pork egg rolls had Very Little pork and were chewy, I sent them back. The waitress confirmed they were frozen. The other issue is that it's very loud. Will probably visit the bar again but won't order any food. read more

A welcome addition for waterfront diners and serious competition for the established establishments in Putnam County. Once upon a time, this place was called Porky's, a long-lived and dependable dive bar set in a scenic, if out-of-the-way location. A place for cheap pool and domestic beer, on a dilapidated marina with an "at your own risk" flair, it folded up a few years ago, not with a bang, but a whimper. Idle Awhile is a huge improvement on the previous edition. The new ownership has put a lot of money into improvements: forests of new wood for the docks, decks, and a new outdoor bandstand, an improved and expanded menu and drink list, and a larger staff. It is now a full restaurant that, in toto, is as good as or better than any waterfront establishment in Putnam. On a Saturday afternoon, the vibe was the best in the area. A lively crowd, a variety of seating environments indoor and outdoor, dog friendly, a good band playing outside, and a steady flow of boat traffic in the marina and on the St. John's made for a wonderful al fresco experience. read more

Beautiful restaurant with a great view of the St. John's River. They spent some money on this place. Classical old Florida ambiance. Restaurant has been opened just about two weeks from what I was told. Top items served to us were: hamburger, twice baked potatoes with pulled pork on top, scrimp gumbo with andouille (very few scrimp and more andouille) flavor great portion dismal, pork wantons(average). Very low rating on the follow: baked beans tasting like they came out of the can, chicken finders overcooked and brought home for the dogs, spaghetti and meatballs also for the dogs. Beer (PBR) in frost mugs was great. My concern is with the attitude of the owner when it was brought to his attention that there were only three scrimp in the gumbo he didn't seem to care about the customers complaint. I hope the food quality improves and the owner will take note of the food quality some good some not. This could be a great restaurant. We will return in time to check. Serve great food and people will come. Potential for a four star restaurant. read more

Idle awhile is one of the cleanest and most comfortable hotel room's my family and i have ever slept in. The restaurant has the most amazing food in Florida. They also have the best breakfast I have tasted in a long time. The staff treats you as if your family and treats everyone with the upmost kindness and respect. You will never leave hungry or dissatisfied or even with a dry whistle. The apmisfer is amazing. Everyone goes above and beyond to give you the perfect place to stay , eat, have a drink or two, fish and so much more to make you feel welcome from the start to finish. read more
