Tried to condense my review but lots of important pieces: 1. Booked 6 rooms in the Lodge in May for my August wedding. At that time, we were told we would have full access to the "community kitchen", we did not at all. Due to them making enchiladas for the neighborhood but this did not include us. 2. When we checked in Johann asked us not to leave the AC on when we left so that it "didn't run up their bill" and if they heard the AC on they would go INTO OUR ROOMS AND SHUT IT OFF. 3. One of the 6 rooms doors didn't even latch and had to be held shut by a chair that was in the room. There is absolutely NO WAY that the owners did not know this. This same room also did not have a garbage can in it. See attached pictures. Not all of the rooms had individual keys to the rooms and only had them to the hallway the room was in. 4. When we booked the rooms, we mentioned we had our dog so we would need a dog friendly place. We were told bringing the dog was fine as long as she was crated at night and if we left the lodge, she went with us. No problem for us at all. We arrive on the check in day and they claim we never told them we had a dog. But they let us stay and charged us a $25 pet deposit. I pay the deposit. We check out EARLY on Sunday and I was charged the pet deposit. I emailed John and Johann to ask about the pet deposit on Tuesday night, Johann (owner) responds with send me your address and I will send you the pet deposit. They had no intention of returning the deposit until I said something. Also it should be noted that their dog is "very aggressive towards other dogs" that came straight out of Johns mouth when they let their dog in the kitchen/bar area. Knowing that our dog was outside with us due to their rules. 5. I was told (it's also on the backs of 4 out of 6 rooms) that check out time is 11am. John (owner) was walking around wriggling door handles at 6am Sunday morning. I know this to be true because he was seen doing it by one of the groomsmen. When he realized the rooms were all still occupied, he started slamming doors waking up several people. Around 930am all but one room was emptied and I was going through double checking all the rooms and John comes into the hallway and grabs the one door that is completely closed and starts to jiggled the handle and knock on the door asking if they were still in the room. Of course they answered yes. He just walked away. No sorry or anything. But if check out time is 11am why is he continuously checking door handles hours before check out time? 6. They apparently do music and food on Fridays and a food truck on Saturdays. None of this was mentioned when we booked the rooms in May or anytime after until we checked in. We love music so that sounded fun but was very awkward when the non-guests showed up to the Lodge and was wondering what we were doing there and John had to go around and explain it to everyone while giving us dirty looks. As for the food truck that happened at the same time as my wedding so overall not a big deal except, we were told the morning of my wedding we all had to move the vehicles to make room for the food truck and the people that wanted to buy food at the food truck. 7. John repeatedly asked me "what my plans were for the day" and I told him the night of the rehearsal we would set up, do the rehearsal and then come back to the lodge and bbq dinner. He seemed annoyed but accepted it. Then Saturday morning he again asks me what the plan is for the day. I told him well I'm getting married then idk lol He pushes and is like well are you doing food at the venue? Are you coming back here? I was put off by all of his questions but answered them anyway. I let him know we are doing food at the venue and would eventually return to the lodge yes but I didn't know when. At this point he says okay and walks away. Then sometime after this but before we left for the wedding he tells my Mom and brother (both who are not staying at the lodge) two different stories... He tells my Mom that if people aren't staying at the lodge they can't be there after 8pm. He tells my brother that people CAN be there after 8pm but can't be drinking due to "city and state ordinances". My family tells me this towards the end of my reception, so I called the Lodge to get the correct info assuming either my mom or brother heard John incorrectly. John was very short with me on the phone but said that both my mom and brother were incorrect. He said that we could be at the lodge but I couldn't "bring the whole wedding party back with us". We never had that intention. He assumed that. I explained to him that it would be the people that have rooms there and possibly another 10 people at most. He said that was fine and hung up. No goodbye, no thank you, nothing just hung up. 8. Overall, I would not recommend staying here unless it's a couple for one night. Clearly John is very passive aggressive and wants to be in control of everything.

I have to say...Ron &Jessica are really down to earth great people/owners. My hubby and I were visiting here for memorial day long weekend for a rafting trip and we went into this place for the patio. We were very pleased with the service, prime rib steak sandwich dip and pulled pork sandwich. They had home made chips and great beers! I have to say the margarita s and card tricks by Ron tipped off the fantastic trip! Great place to stop for a drink and excellent meal. Thanks Ron, Jessica , Essence, sasha, Houdini and moonchild. .lol good times!!!

The breakfast burrito was so so good. The salsa was something special. I only gave 4 stars because the coffee was not so great. But maybe I'm just used to strong rich coffee. If the coffee was as good as the food, definitely 5 stars. read more

Had a great time. Food was well done. We got a magic show with dinner that made the night. There was a pool room with free pool which occupied the kids. The place is work in progress, but that is some of the fun. We would have come back if travel plans allowed. read more

We (hubby and I) went to go see some friends perform their music there and our first time visiting this place. First we were greeted by the hostess, Jessica. Who directed us to the 'music room' for the evening. Then the owner Ron (also a terrific chef) came over to greet us. This man was gracious and very welcoming. A rare combination to be able to master both the front and the back of the house. The minute he explained his smoked prime rib, I knew we were staying for dinner. And dinner did not disappoint. The dining room is a modest one, but sports a wonderful stone fireplace. (in the summer they have a huge outdoor deck) I was very happy with he prime rib. There was a nice, not over powering, smokey flavor to the 'crust'. The inside of the meat was that wonderful prime rib flavor. Tender and delicious beef! It also came with my choice of soup or salad and a baked potato. Hubby had the grilled chicken and veggies which was served with garlic bread. He did mention his chicken was a tad on the dry side and it was seasoned with just s&p. But not sauce, which I think would have been nice. Particularly since they make so many things in house, a homemade bbq sauce would be bomb. (Hmm perhaps I should get my blackberry bbq sauce). If you are going for just a snack you MUST, and I seriously say MUST order their homemade potato chips! I am addicted to potato chips, and let me say these are some of the...no...the best homemade chips I have ever had. Let's talk desserts. OMG! Not one of their desserts are purchased. They are ALL made in house. Decadent is a word that sounds shallow when describing these desserts! While the location for us is a bit of a drive, (45 minutes) going the back way as we do, it's a beautiful drive! The only con I can give is, the wine pours are a bit short. While 5oz is the normal I think these were closer to 4oz. Would I go back? Oh yes we shall :) read more

Family owned and operated. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not a whole lot of choices out here along the beautiful Umpqua river in Oregon. So was very happy to find a family run place where they take pride in their food. Pretty good selection on menu. Have had breakfast here several times: coffee is good and hot, biscuits, eggs and bacon cooked just right. They are very proud of their prime rib dip sandwich ($10) and rightly so. They slow cook the meat, nice fresh roll, and delicious home made chips. Absolutely melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Prices are very reasonable. Place is very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend. read more

Stayed at lodge two nights with friend and had 6 meals each there. Food is greasy lower end fare but good value for the money. The rooms were a bit shocking. Very dirty. I pointed out dirty washcloth left behind by previous guest left on shower rod. He offered to clean again. Even after he did I had to wash sticky spills and hair off the sparse furniture and pine needles and dirt out of the fridge. My friend opened her sheets to find a dead bug. As it was too late to go elsewhere, we stayed. Owner was friendly at first but quickly grew surly. Too many other concerns to list. read more

Delightfully accommodating and friendly! We were camping down the road along the wondrous North Umpqua River and wanted to watch Game 4 of the NBA Finals. Happened upon this establishment. Walked in to ask about TV/bar options there or nearby, and, before we could decline for rudely imposing, the host had cleared her young twins out of an event space and sat us in front of a big screen TV. Soon, we had drinks and menus. The owner constantly checked in and warmly chatted with us, and we eventually ordered pulled pork nachos upon his recommendation (homemade chips, in-house smoked pulled pork). They were tasty, but most of all, these folks are awesome. Check them out! read more

This restaurant came through for my family reunion in a big way! We were a big group with lots of kids and the friendly staff set up a wonderful evening for us. We enjoyed the private banquet room which has a stage. The kids entertained us while we waited for our food. There was also a Nintendo and pool tables. The restaurant was air conditioned which was great after a long day in hot weather. The food was really great! So glad we found this little gem. read more

There aren't enough stars in the sky for this restaurant. The food is made with magic, pure unadulterated pixie dust. The Yld Benedict was like taking my taste buds to the misty mountains of Avalon high above the valley of paradise. The breakfast burrito also tickled my fancy, and I left with a stomach full of flowery feel goods. Take home some wine jelly or hot sauce too. The wine jelly has to be made by a wizard because it embodies the most succulent grapes from vineyards cultivated amongst the most exalted mystical creatures. I sort of regret not tipping the waiter my life savings. He was the best person I ever met, one who could have been easily been chosen to bear the ring of Gondor. He was also an extremely adept magician, practiced in the discipline of teleportation. Ask him and he'll show you. read more

I stayed at the lodge for a couple nights. The food is so good! They have done a great job coming up with a home cooked menu that is very good. My husband and I don't usually care for prime rib, but theirs is excellent and then the next day we had the prime rib sandwiches and they were so good. I had a nice variety of meals there and enjoyed everyone of them. So did my family. The card tricks that Ron did were amazing. We enjoyed the cozy stone fireplace. The rooms are a work in progress, but ours was very clean and pleasant. It takes time and money to fix an old place up. Ron and Jessica are doing a good job at providing a nice place on our beautiful North Umpqua river. I am glad they have bought the place and I will definitely stay there again. And We plan on eating there often. I hope you will try it out. read more
