My husband took me to Idyllwild for a day date and took me to a pizza place "that we used to go to after doing winter camping as a Boy Scout." I don't know what it is with mountain towns and pizza, but Idyllwild Pizza really has their pizza on lock down! Me and my lady had ordered the Nutty Pine 12" pizza. This pizza had grilled chicken, red bell peppers, and marinara sauce on one of the finest flat pizzas I have ever had :) The garlic bread was also exceptional especially when you dip the bread in a cup of marinara sauce - oh so tasty! We were craving some pizza, so we looked up a pizza place and found this spot. There was plenty of parking available in the lot and nearby, and it was easy to find. As we walked in, we really had to consider whether we wanted to eat there or not. Although the pictures of the pizza looked really good online, the restaurant itself seemed a bit run-down. You can tell from the tables and decorations that the place could use a facelift. There's a small arcade in the corner that I'm not sure many people use, and a foosball table that doesn't seem to work. But let me tell you--don't let that discourage you from trying the food, because this is some of the best pizza I've ever had. We ordered a medium supreme pizza with some ranch for dipping. If we weren't trying other food at nearby places, we would have finished the entire thing. We loved the leftovers. It wasn't too busy when we got here--just a couple of families and a few others eating lunch. From what I can assume, the owner who took our order was very nice. I highly recommend coming here if you're in the area and want pizza. Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be getting more pizza here. Idyllwld Pizza has the tastiest, home made tomato sauce and the freshest ingredients. In addition to the traditional kind of pizza, they have one called the Haleakala which has mozzarella, Canadian bacon, ham, pineapple, cashews and ginger. I have been known to travel from Los Angeles to Idyllwild to enjoy the mountains and get a pie from this wonderful place. They have a nice selection of pasta dishes as well as subs. They also have a wide selection of beers both on tap and in bottles. It's a local stop but visitors are very welcome. It's located in the center of town. Anytime we are in Idyllwild we have to grab a pie here. It's not knock-your-socks-off flavor, but it's darn good. Customer service is always great, and food service times are fast, even when busy. Lots of seating and a foosball table with several TV's, and music at a reasonable volume. Sometimes they'll have the volume on one of the TV's instead, depending on what is on. As for the pizza, the standard is a fairly thin crust, with a nice crunch value to it. Not greasy at all, lots of quality toppings to choose from, and several specially themed flavor combinations as well. I've been to this place a few times when I stop by in Idylwild and it regularly delivers good pizza. I typically go with either a build your own pizza or calzone. The ingredients are good but everything is a bit expensive but expected when you're up a big mountain. The service isn't anything extraordinary but i've never felt like anyone is rude to me. There's a good amount of tables inside to eat at and a little arcade but with the ease of traveling with a pizza and how scenic the town is you're better off getting to go and having a picnic outdoors in my opinion.
