Love this park, it's such a vibe here. It has a little bit of everything. Very large fields to chill or throw a frisbee, a small park area for the kids and tables to have a picnic. Then, wait for it....access to the beach part for Lake Sammamish! Amazing views and ability to lay out and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the lake. On a busy warm day it can get crowded but there is always room for everyone. read more

I came here for a bbq at the picnic shelter and it was a very pleasant experience! The area was well manicured, clean, and had decent parking in the lot and along the street. I enjoyed the beach as well as the park areas and appreciated the groundskeeper cleaning the grills and area ahead of time. read more

Lovely park with a nice beach to enjoy hot days. Dogs are not allowed to this part. You can enjoy a picnic on the grass area. There are some tables and a very interesting tall tree by the parking lot which works as shelter for the ducks. Please let them just rest. A small bridge connects you to the rest of the park where the restrooms are. You will find the shelter too infrint of the playground along another beach. Tall trees surround the place. We saw an eagle battling a vouple of crows. The parking lot can get crowdy sometimes. I wish dogs can be allowed to the beach but totally get that there's wildlife at risk. There's a lot of duck poop. Lovely spot to spend at. read more

Great park! - sandy beach - decent protected shallow area for swimming for little kids - a grassy area with trees for shade on hot days so that the parents can relax out of the sun but still keep an eye on kids in the water - playground - open grassy area for frisbee/catch - bathroom facilities clean and had a shower to wash off sandy feet - had read parking can be tough although found a spot both times we went this summer on nice days. There is also street parking and an overflow parking lot not too far away Downside -park shelter is in a completely separate area from the main park so you can't see/access main beach and playground without walking down a little path. I needed a place to enjoy my lunch with my sister and niece. It was HOT and shade and water was very important so we searched for a beach or park and just by driving around Bellevue we stumbled upon Idylwood Beach Park! Perfect. There is a small parking lot about two lanes big and we had to circle around twice to find a spot which was very lucky since this park fills up fast! We entered through the large lawn, a massive lawn with 4 or so picnic benches spread out and a covered picnic area near the entrance which you can reserve. There is a paved path that leads through and goes either right towards the water or towards the park. It's a beautiful short stroll and it was perfect for our toddler to run around freely. The park is pretty big and maintained pretty well. In the middle there are covered seating which is great for watching the kids in the shade but this day was too hot for anyone to be on the playground so it was empty but the beach of course was packed! The beach area isn't too big, definitely not a spot for large groups or a packed beach day but there were a lot of kids splashing around enjoying the water so great for small kids. read more

Forst time visiting this park and we really liked it! It is very family friendly and clean. There were families having bbq and people playing music, and on the "beach" area you have more families just relaxing and having a nice time! Get here super early in the morning to avoid crowds, water temperature is great in the summer, lake is shallow enough for kids to play and grownups to swim. They have everything you would need to spend a great day at the beach. Tables available, "first come first serve," bathrooms, volleyball court and a nice playground. You can bring your own snacks but there's also ice cream and snacks for sale. Such a great place for these hot days! read more

Was in the area to visit Microsoft and picked the nearest park for a walk. It's located in a very nice neighborhood. The park itself is clean. The small parking lot was nearly empty given it was a weekday, but can imagine parking may be an issue during the weekends. I enjoyed the walk here. The view of Lake Sammamish is beautiful and the park is cleanly maintained. I also seen a guy fishing there for Trout so there must be fish out there. If I can help it, I would buy real estate in the area just to enjoy this park more often. read more

Idylwood Beach Park is a nice park that is dwarfed by an even nicer one, Marymoor Park down the road from here. I was heading over to Marymoor when I made a wrong turn, but by chance happened to come across Idylwood. Idylwood is a neighborhood park located off Lake Sammamish. There is a moderate amount of parking in the main lot. But I saw a sign indicating that there was additional parking nearby if this lot was full. This park is great as it is well maintained with a clear path to the water. The park is full of greenery, has picnic tables (some covered), a children's playground, a volleyball court area and a floating bridge to jump into the water from. And there is really a real beach here. It isn't a pretty or large beach, but you will find sand and enough space to lie on a towel and get some sun. Honestly, I had no idea that there were actual functional beaches on the Eastside but I found one here! I feel by visiting this park that I have come across a best kept secret in Redmond. If you are looking for a park by the water on the Eastside to spend part of a sunny day at, Idylwood would be a good option. read more

This is one of my favorite places. It is close to home, peaceful* and offers Incredible views of the lake. And if you're lucky you'll get to see the eagles who nest high in the trees. It is special to me because it is where I practiced my open water swims for my first triathlon. My family and I have been going here for 12 years and consider it an important reason of why I love my neighborhood so very much. *However, recently it has gotten to be unbearable during hot days. People come from far and wide and cram themselves on our little beach. The other day I had to literally navigate my way in between families sprawled out all over the grass Just to walk my dog. I feel like our little secret is out and everyone now knows that this is such a great park . I wish people would go up the road to Sammamish State Park and leave our park alone. In fact if you are reading this review in hopes of visiting Idlywood Park, it's horrible go to Sammamish :-). That said, it is still very peaceful in the morning and I go there every morning I can. read more

Love this park in the summer. Close to home and great view of the water. Has a nice playground, sheltered picnic tables, lots of shades and a nice sandy beach. It gets very crowded when the weather gets nice and the parking lot and parallel street parking nearby is not big enough for everyone. Luckily you can find additional parking just a short walk away. Some of the equipment is showing some wear and tear. Hopefully they will repair or renovate soon. read more

There is a large Big Kid play structure with an adjacent toddler play space. Parking (2 Stars) At peak times Parking is impossible. Plan to park in the overflow lot and walk to the park. The park IS worth the hassle of parking as long as you plan for it. Keep close control of your kids as you'll have to cross a VERY busy street. SPF (5 Stars) One of my favorites. There is a covered area with a few picnic tables right next to the play structures. Good seating for Mom to watch the kids and sit out of the sun. The area also has a lot of old growth evergreens that offer good shade. read more

It offers swimming (no lifeguards), BBQ pits, volleyball nets, play structures for kids, and a large grass area to play frisbee. This park is extremely popular during the summer months, and has an overflow parking lot (look for signs). Really it is nice in all seasons. read more

I went here for a beach day with my friends. Parking lot is small but if you follow the signs you can find neighborhood parking. I got there around 1 and it was perfect. Set up camp on the sand/rocks. An amount of people but a great vibe. Around 4 I looked back at the grass and it was PACKED. Like a random concert. FYI. The water was nice. There were 4 lifeguards and pretty strict. They've roped off the areas where you are allowed to swim and float and such. There was the whole other side of the water that you weren't allowed to swim in for a while which I felt was annoying because as an adult I wanted to be able to chill sometimes in the water where I could stand and not be hit by children and families. However, the deeper you go obviously the more space. Honesty though, I'd go back. Just earlier for sure. read more

This is my favorite beach park in summer! It's easy to walk down to the swimming area and walk in the water as there is sand. It's best to swim in the sun during the day as it gets shaded after 6pm. There is an excellent beach volleyball area and nice grassy area to sit down on. It's really nice watching the stand up paddle boarders and people on their boats on the lake. There is a second parking lot that is clearly marked and easy to follow the signs to find it. I highly recommend this beach park for swimming, relaxing and fun! read more

This is a great and large park that has not been molested by Canadian geese, so I feel okay bringing a blanket or a yoga mat and hanging out without contracting some avian disease. Whoever said that this park has been overshadowed by Marymoor must not stalk this park like I do because it is always filled with people, given the sunny weather. There's no fee to pay for parking and when it seems crowded, you can always park around the back and there are signs that indicate exactly that. It is equipped with picnic tables, a small playground, a cabana that can be reserved for private parties, and large areas of grass where people are playing badminton, frisbee, volleyball, tag-you're-naked, Red-Rover-send-your-bikini-over, or whatever contact sport you want. The sky's the limit. All of the times I have visited there have been people barbecuing some quality food, which is cool until it's lingering for so long that I kind of want to steal their food like a troll. The reason I give this park a 4 star is because it's Lake Sammamish. Let's all stop pretending for a second that this man-made lake is nothing short of a petri dish that is probably breeding some swamp monster at the bottom. I mean, I can't name a time when I have been on Lake Sammamish and not see my friends, and others, dumping their garbage in here. I guess they are just doing landfills a favor by not filling them any higher. Be green, be you. This park is great for people watching, too. I've seen a middle-aged woman wearing a pretty transparent one-piece bikini trying to handle her kid. If I wanted a peek, I would have just asked. I've seen an old man hanging out in his boxers smoking a cigarette while he was exploring the park. I've seen dog owners allow their dogs roam loose because potentially being chased by a canine is my top priority. I've seen police here attempting to sniff out suspicious activity. Yeah, this park is great but only if I stay out of the water. read more

This is one of my favorite Redmond parks (and I like them all, really!). The fact that it's on Lake Sammamish and offers swimming to all makes this park special. There's a small dock to jump off of, lots of sand to build sand castles in, roped off shallow areas, and yes, there are lifeguards here during the summer months. There is wonderful playground equipment for the kids and covered areas nearby for parents. There are picnic tables; in fact, there is a huge, covered lodge-like area you can rent for parties (our family rented if for my kid's Bat Mitzvah party on a June night one year. Of course, it rained, but the kids had a blast, walking on the "beach", jumping in the lake, dancing in the rain. Very memorable!). There are bathrooms and showers, too (very important!), and lots of grassy flat areas for kids to run and play and throw balls. Really, this park has something for everyone. Which explains why it is so dang popular! I strongly advise coming early on summer days, as parking can be a bear (there's an average-sized lot, on-street parking, and an overfill lot about a half block away. But still, it is packed on nice days. And the police can and DO ticket errant parkers, as residents in the area often complain - rightfully so, - of being blocked in or of other infractions). read more

A couple days after writing my review, the volleyball court was closed for a few days. We showed up shortly after they finished working and there was a brand new net, and REAL sand! Yayyyy! No more cuts on our feet! The sand was so soft, that my friends and I wanted to roll around in it. What an upgrade! We could not be happier! Thank you so much :) Now, my only concern is that with this upgraded sand and net, more people are going to want to play. That means less playing time in the limited sunlight. Please please please make more courts! I guarantee that they would all be used, and the community would love it! read more

I think this beach is most suitable for families with smaller children. There isn't a whole lot of beach but enough area for kids to play in the sand and water. The beach area will be packed on a nice sunny day. The grassy area before the beach is big and a nice place to through a frisbee or have a picnic. There is a huge shelter which I'm assuming is reservable. This is definitely a family place. It's a nice little area but probably not a place I could see myself relaxing. read more

This review is for the summer season of this beach. I come here with my 1 year old and we have a great time. Pros: -the sand is great, and there's plenty of it compared to the other beaches -The water isn't freezing -lifeguards on duty -snack shack with ice cream, water, etc. -playground, both for toddlers and kids -plenty of grassy areas -plenty of shade -dogs welcome -public bbqs allowed Cons: -if there's limited people there, the crows get into all your stuff! -parking lot is small -a walk (although short) to get to the beach read more

It's few min away from home with beautiful view. It is one of our favorite park during summer. The lake is huge with designated areas for swimming. Life guards are present during certain hours which is a plus when you go there with little ones. They have playgrounds and big grass areas. I see many people coming for big parties, picnics, BBQ , kids birthday parties, swim, and relax. The only complaint is the size of the parking lot - very small and it is hard to get a spot on weekends. read more

Lake Sammamish has just a handful of waterfront parks. This one is probably the nicest. The kids playground is great - 2 structures for younger and older. The older kids has what must seem to be a giant slide. It is a longer than normal walk from the main parking lot to the playground area/beach area. All down hill coming in, all up hill going out. When the sun is shining the parking lots and overflow lots will be full. A lot of room and grass if you want to spread out. Nice area to launch human powered boats - but the walk back uphill with a kayak will be a chore. Someone posted a picture with a seagull, but all I saw were crows. Oh and ducks. read more

Ohhhh the childhood memories that come with this place. It sparks up so much nostalgia. When I was younger I remembered this place to be humongous. Now that it's been about a decade since I've visited I've come to realize it's not that big in space, but still carries a ton of memories! There's plenty of place to swim and play for the kids. They also have a playground and volleyball net set up as well as benches and public grills for bbq'ing for the entire family. I love it here. read more
