I was prepared to buy all I needed for a project here but left with nothing. So sad a store so full of interesting and amazing things and help sat or stood around disinterested. It is a store to purchase a wide variety of things: canned goods, clothes, boots, dog / cat toys and food, farming equipment. The associates were friendly and talkative during my time in the store. I had my dog with me which gets extra attention. read more

Great store, friendly staff and loads of products for ranches, gardeners, hobbyists (bees and birds). Enough information and boxed sets to get you started raising chickens, raising bees or feeding song birds and hummers. There are clothes, socks, hats, caps and boots alongside cute kids clothes and baby onesies. Loved the huge variety of dog food and chicken food too. We founds items that make great gifts for birthdays and more. But be discerning- don't get your beloved wife a chicken plucker for her BD or your mom a tree saw. I was intrigued by the freeze dried food and the huge bags of sunflower seeds for the birds. The large selection of drip irrigation parts is so helpful. Enjoyed my visit, and purchases, will be back. read more

This store is abusive to animals, do not shop here. During the spring, IFA has a large selection of chicks for sale. I won't go into why that's a problem (for one, hatcheries throw most male chicks into a macerator alive, or suffocate them), because most farm stores tend to sell baby chicks, so it's a bigger issue than this one store. However, where IFA goes a lot further with this is that they changed their setup from the traditional stock-tank chick setup to vertical brooders. Not a problem right? Sure, for small chicks a few days old. A couple years ago however, they kept chickens in these brooders till they were adults, had virtually no space to move, and had to crouch 24/7. I asked the front desk about this, they said the 'chicks' were being kept there until the county fair was held (at that time, about 2 months away, even though the chickens were already almost fully grown), where they would be given away to kids who caught them during a chicken chase event. I pressed further and was aggressively told that the chickens were 'fine' and to 'not worry about them'. I left and haven't been back since. I'm not sure if they're still keeping chickens in tiny brooders that are almost worse than battery cages, but I would not support this store. Honestly, this kind of callousness about animals is not unusual in a farming and ranching area like this, and IFA, along with other farm stores, sell many items that facilitate animal abuse. Obviously, other stores also sell dead animals and animal products, so IFA is no worse in that regard. However, mistreating animals so openly and callously in a place of business, when they absolutely have the resources to give the chickens more space, it's heinous. Boycott this store if you care about the well-being of animals. read more

We moved here almost 18 months ago. IFA in northern Utah are many and most were friendly. Here at the Cortez location they were last year, but very rude and sassy this year. I've had a few very negative situations with them. Customer service in live poultry was very unhelpful and rude. Another time a few weeks ago I asked about a sales clerk position that I watched the guy put up on the sign just before I walked in. When I asked the head cashier she wanted to know if I wanted a application for my wife, I said no it is for me. Well now she didn't know if it was full time, part time or been filled. Well I watched the guy put it up outside. The best I can do is give you an application. It was certainly the precursor to employment discrimination. read more

I bought my husband an expensive belt and bought the wrong size. Of course I had thrown out the tag and did not keep the receipt. He never wore it and when I asked if I could exchange for a larger size- exact same belt- I was rudely told that they do not accept ANY returns without tags because they would need to put on a pink tag and no one would buy the item. I have enjoyed shopping there in the past, but they have lost my business. This policy should be changed at least for an identical unused return. And people wonder why shopping local can be a challenge. This is one time that the big box will get my future business. read more
