Had a little trouble with the online reservation process, but a phone call cleared it up. Like others have said, the intake process at the front desk could be more streamlined. We paid approx $165 (including tax) for a group of 3 people, 30 min session. This included a short instructional video and verbal instruction from the teacher. Our teacher was very friendly, personable, and helpful. Here's why I likely won't come back (at these prices): we each got two 1-minute sessions in the tube. 2 minutes of 'flight time' in a 30 min session, for $55 each. Ridiculous. They were selling a young couple on the "30 min flight session" when we left....it's totally misleading. Also, they have a few signs posted saying the instructors don't expect tips, but they are GREATLY APPRECIATED. Dude, we just spent $55 for 2 minutes. As we were walking out they tried to sell us t-shirts, water bottles, and any other logo'd stuff they have behind the desk. No thanks. I give the meager time spent in the tube 5 stars...super fun. I give the value 1 star, so I've rounded the total experience to 2 stars. The value just isn't there. I will not be going back unless they reduce the prices significantly. It'd be nice to see the advertised experience represented in a more realistic fashion as well. Just my personal 2 cents, but better bang-for-the-buck thrills can be had just down the road at SyKart go kart track (I have no affiliation, just think it's a better value). read more

This is just CRAZY the prices are way to high. The simulation is not too realistic in my eyes. I guess if you are someone that would like to take the first baby steps to go for the real thing then by all means this is where you should go. But, EH, you won't see me there again, nor will I recommend it to anyone for their sky high prices. read more

I am rating this based primarily on it's value as compared to other forms of entertainment. First let me say, this business is run very smartly and you can tell from the gigantic Mission Statements they have on their wall, to the way they go out of their way to high five you and everyone in the place bids you goodbye like you were their best friend. It's a nice touch but has a bit of a contrived feel. With that said, I would expect this company is smart enough to keep an eye like a hawk on social media like Yelp and not be surprised if they encourage their most satisfied customers to write reviews here. It is what it is - a skydiving simulator essentially. It averages to about $25 per 1 minutes of flying. WHOA. It's one of those things you can do it once to just do it, or go pro and shell out hundreds of dollars a month to become an expert at it (in which case your cost per minute of fly time will go dramatically down of course.) For it's purpose, it is run well and provides a fun, albeit extremely brief experience. However, once you get past the 'got to try it once' mentality, in my opinion, you can get more mileage from your entertain budget on a lot of other stuff unless you choose to make this your hobby/profession. One tip: See if you can confirm that your reservation is with an instructor that is qualified to take you to the top of the tunnel. It is well worth the extra $10 but only some of the instructors can do it and it will be the 15-second highlight of your experience. 2.5-stars for value. 4.5 stars for how well they execute with minus 0.5 for being borderline too patronizing = 4 stars. 3.25 stars average. If you are are a repeat customer and bring the cost per flight down, then this place would get 4 stars in my book. P.S. This is an excellent self-esteem builder for people that typically avoid 'adventurous' activities due to low self-confidence. They will walk away with a sense of accomplishment. I heard many companies do this for team building outings also probably for that very reason. (Cha ching.) read more

Marketed as an amusement but it's really for experienced divers, it might be cheaper to just go skydiving. $134 for two kids for 4 min total time is expensive for the working family, not to mention the learning curve you must master. Great experience once you make it past the attitude at the front desk. That being said, we got the discounted price coupons (e.g. CostCo and UW Med Cntr) and they won't let you use those for reservations. So once we showed up, they made us wait three hours. The kids had a great time on our first visit (after a very long wait). The next time I again called in advance. On a potentially positive note, you get extra minutes if you're there within a week of you birthday. So the second time I tried to take my two sons, who both have birthdays within a week of each other (yes I have ID), I was told to come down there were open spots, but they wouldn't let me make a reservation (see above). By the time I got there (within 2 hours) they said they only had one 10:30 pm spot open (it was 4pm), and nothing else available for the next three days either. So we not only couldn't get in, like I was told one the phone, but we now miss the birthday window. They really didn't care, or have empathy at all that two kids were there for their birthday due to what I was told on the phone, but were told it's a no-go. Their desk staff needs an overhaul. You get told one thing on the phone, and get nothing but very poor, sassy, attitude at the desk. This has happened twice, both times with unbearable cocky Jersey Shore attitude. If I managed this business I would fire each of those I have had contact with. These young people need some education in customer service...by getting fired. Absolutely the worst customer service of any place I've been in Seattle...ever. read more

I had high hopes for IFLY based on the promise of giving kids the sensation of skydiving in a safe environment. Unfortunately, the disorganization of the "Seattle" (really Tukwila) facility made it a bust. First, their servers were down, so we weren't able to sign the liability waivers in time. This got us off to a late start, which led to problems later (see below). Second, when fewer members of our party showed up than planned, IFLY reduced the time without reducing the price. We had to argue several times to convince them to let us PAY MORE per person and keep the time we had allotted. Third, our session started late because of their server crashes and because the prior group went late. Rather than allowing us to start late and finish late, they cut short our time by nearly 10 minutes so the NEXT group could start on time. Keep in mind a "flight" is 1-2 minutes. So some kids didn't get a chance to go. The most aggravating part was that after they cut short our time, the instructor went in on her own to horse around by herself and show off her acrobatics while they were leading us out. Third, no cell phones are allowed in the booth. But they photo and film the sessions themselves. So the only way to get pictures or video is to PAY THEM for them. The price is supposed to include pictures and video, but the vouchers they provide don't work. And the photo prices were steep. Considering this cost us $110 per kid, we were very disappointed. read more

Such an amazing experience! I went with my girlfriend after getting gift certificates for Christmas and it was just as amazing as it sounds. Both of us had gone skydiving before and loved the freefalling part of it so we knew it was going to be a blast. While in orientation, Darren (our instructor who was awesome), asked if anyone had been skydiving. Myself and my girlfriend were the only ones, so once we were in the wind, he definitely gave us more freedom than the others in the group (there were 7 of us total). The combination of the wind, noise, ability to literally float and then Darren training us how to adjust our hands and feet ever so slightly made it so we could turn from left to right and go forwards and backwards. I even got to the point where I could move from the center of the area to the glass and give my family a high ten through the glass. Then after the minute or two of Darren instructing us, he then grabbed ahold of the jumpsuit and flies with you to the top and comes back down a few times. So incredible! Here's the basics: 1) you go with a group of people, I think 7 is the max 2) everyone gets a minute or two of time in the wind, one at a time so the instructor can help guide you 3) the other group members wait and watch and when you're done, everyone is excited and high fiving you 4) the instructors are great. Very helpful and its amazing to see their control in the wind 5) even if you're scared, you'll have a blast! Would definitely do this again in a heartbeat. Personally, I liked it better than skydiving because it gave me a chance to practice control, turning and the feeling of flying was more real. My girlfriend preferred skydiving because she liked that she was actually falling towards Earth and got an opportunity to enjoy the view once the parachute opened. Give it a try and I guarantee you won't regret it! read more

The product is cool, but the employees were awful. I arrived with only one other customer in line. When I approached the desk to check in, one of the three people at the desk grunted that I needed to register first at the machine in the entry way. Since there were four of us, I registered all four and got into line to finish the process. THEN, they tell us there is a three hour wait for anyone without reservations. Meanwhile, there are three employees behind the counter and two "managers" less than ten feet away hidden in their office. No sign indicating a wait, no effort to leave from behind the counter, no concern at all on their part when I told them that they could take one of their five people in the reception area out from behind the counter to engage with their customers. I left, kids disappointed, 30 minutes lost and convinced never to spend a dime on their business. If there was competition in this product, iFly would be out of business in a week. read more

We decided to take our 7 year old son here to celebrate his living with Type 1 diabetes for 2 years. He was so excited to go and fly and we were terrified. Upon walking in we found the front desk staff to be super friendly without being overbearing (I can not stand pushy people). They engaged with my son who isnt quick to talk to strangers. After filling out all the forms we headed upstairs to meet the intructor. I infomed them that my son was a diabetic and was also wearing an insulin pump and another monitor (both are on his body by inserting needles under his skin). They asked the right questions, and took Henry through the training. Vance was our instructor. He was so upbeat and sweet I felt sort of okay letting my kid go into an insane wind tunnel. The look of joy on my son's face when he flew made me actually cry and when the offered to take him to the top of the building for 10 dollars I agreed. My son came out so happy and felt so proud of himself. Thanks iFLY! We will for sure return! read more

This was my first time hear. My boyfriend surprised me for Valentines Day & took me here. I loved the experience from start to finish!! Checking in was easy. The wait was not long & while you wait, you get to watch everyone in the air tunnel so it's cool. Once it's your turn, you get called into what's called the "classroom". You watch a quick video showing you all the do's & don'ts as well as some general information. Our instructor's name was Chris or also known as "Baby Thor", he had long blond hair. He was funny & personable which made the experience even better. He truly likes what he does. While we were in the air tunnel, he made sure that everyone enjoyed themselves & even took special care of some younger girl. It was hard for her to breathe & she kept wanting out of the air tunnel early, so he made sure someone else got her a special helmet that also covered your face, so that she could breathe, then took her in an extra time to make sure she got the full experience.**** this is honestly what stood out to me the absolute MOST. She was really young & quiet, so he made sure to shut the air off so he could hear what was bothering her during her flight. He knelt down to her level & was SO caring....this alone would make me come back time & time again!! I bought pictures & a few videos of my flight. Doing this was easy on their computer there. I would recommend going here to anyone who likes to be adventurous. They also want you to come back & be able to go in the air tunnel by yourself, so they offer 50% off courses when you're checking out, which is awesome, so we did. We bought the 6 flight package. I'm excited to be able to go in there solo & do flips & tricks without an instructor one day! They have all kinds of things from start to finish to make sure you enjoy the experience of iFly Seattle. This is super fun. I wish I lived closer and could go more often. It is a bit expensive though and you don't get an incredibly long amount of time to fly. Thankfully they use a timer so you can be certain you are not being cheated out of your full time. Also be sure to pay attention to the flashes so you can get some great photos. I have done a similar indoor skydiving adventure in Vegas and this one is a bit better. I believe its quite a bit taller as well. Boyfriend complained the other one was too hot. However in Vegas we went in a much smaller group, groups here were large and while everyone gets their own private fly time there was a bit of waiting around. They request you come an hour early. Video you recieve with purchase is also not solely of your flight which seems like it would be easy enough to seperate, not sure I like the idea of strangers having my video. It also was really crowded on a saturday morning. read more

I would like to add I had a similar feeling about the front desk staff that a lot of others have experienced. Young, and not experienced with what "good customer service" means. Be attentive, smile, answer questions as best you can and be nice and sincere. Snobby and irritated if given a question you don't know how to answer starts off customers experience in a negative way. Not cool. I have to say I was taken aback by the fact that absolutely anyone can watch who ever is flying. Just because you go with a big group of your friends, it's not a private flight for just you and your entourage. You are out there in the tube for public viewing. I'm guessing it to maximize the amount of people that go for a flight due to the assembly line check in, get your training, suit up... then fly. There isn't a minute the tunnel isn't in use, but hey, I bet that's one big electricity bill, so no wonder. The time goes by quickly but even after 2 one minute sessions I was a bit sore the next day in certain muscles that don't get used that often. So don't be dissapointed thinking, oh man? Only 2 sessions of one measly minute for $50?? Will I be going back. Yes indeed. I've found a new hobby, ...maybe after several more sessions in the tunnel I'll have the courage to actually jump out of a real plane! One quick piece of advice if you are thinking about going--really pay attention to your instructor and watch everyone for awhile before hand. You'll be able to spot the things they are doing wrong, and the more you get it right off the bat, the better your experience will be in the tunnel the first time. You don't want to be falling all over and flopping off the walls.. you want to FLY! Chin up, belly down, legs out and smile! read more

iFly in Tukwila, WA is receiving a 1 star rating for the time being. We set up our flight with their customer phone rep the day prior to our flight on my birthday (midweek - Weds afternoon). Tuesday evening we were told we could change our flight time if need be. When we called the next morning to push back the flight time by a couple of hours, we were told there would be a $20 rebooking fee, to change the time by only an hour or two, on the same date, with no other bookings that were scheduled for that time. The 2nd service rep told us they were unable to help due to policy of 48 hours necessary to change the booking prior to the flight. He was completely unaccommodating to the fact that the 1st rep told us just the day prior it would be 'no problem' to change the time and to call back anytime to change, and that she failed to tell us about rebooking fees within a 48 hour timeframe. So far this experience with iFly has been anything but 'soaring'. read more

Took my son here for his birthday. I bought him 4 minutes of flight for $100 which is a bit steep for the first time but apparently as you learn more the price goes down. He had a blast and it was worth every penny to watch the smile on his face. This is what happens for first time flyers. When you get there you wait for your flight time to be called. Then you go through a safety briefing where you watch a brief video of what is going to happen and then you get to review the various hand signals that are used in the flight chamber. Next you get suited up and get your helmet and glasses. You then get lined up to enter the chamber waiting area. Once seated there you go one by one into the chamber for your time with an instructor. After two cycles of this you are done. For us they offered a special $10 additional high flight where you do this helicopter move all the way to the top of the tank with an instructor. My son loved that part. It was worth every penny. I believe we will be back. read more

iFLY is awesome in theory and potential, but reletively poor in execution. I suggest calling them ahead of time to get the details just in case they change the way they operate and improve your chances of enjoyment. As they currently operate, for the intro package, you ultimately spend 2 minutes (literally) in the chamber for a pretty substantial investment. And if it's your first flight, don't expect to be flying on your own for much of that time (the instructor had to hold on to most of the first timers for a good portion of their flights to keep them steady). It wouldn't take much for my review to jump to 5 stars, but as iFLY currently operates, I think they deserve a 1.5. A few suggestions for iFly: 1. Give more time to each 'flyer' (they didn't pay all that money just to walk around in a flight suit for 20 minutes while the chamber sits empty). At least give us 4 minutes! 2. Offer verbal feeback between flights. The hand signals help, but 20 seconds of verbal instruction between flights would make the second flight more successful and enjoyable. Although the instructor was energetic and concerned about safety, I didn't get the feeling that the company or instructor were all that interested in me figuring this out (it benefits them if it takes multiple visits). read more

My wife and I took our boys to iFLY this New Years Eve. We got the vouchers from Costco for their Christmas presents. We sat joyfully as our boys received their 2 - 1 minute flights. While safely insulated in the sound-proof air chamber, away from any parental financial influence, the flight instructor asks our boys if they want to "go up" - a $20 decision. What child would say "no"? There was no way for even a superhuman guardian to penetrate the safety glass to stop this sneaky transaction. After the experience, we were confronted by the flight instructor that we had to pay $40 before leaving. There really should be a stamp or bracelet for those whose parents have pre-approved this expense. It probably would have been more exciting and just as effective as walking through a crowd of pickpocketers. read more

We had an amazingly good time at iFly Seattle (www.iflyseattle.com) for our outing as a family for indoor skydiving. I'm sure the kids (ages 8, 6, and 4) will be talking about this for years to come. Even my wife, who is typically quite a bit more conservative than me and the kids, thought it was awesome. (Trivia: She actually did better than all of us according to the instructor, even though she complained that she kept drooling into her nose because she was busy smiling while flying!) Even with nearly three dozen military static line jumps, this was something completely new and fun for me. My face hurt afterward from all the smiling and laughter. If it wasn't so expensive, we'd be there every weekend. I'll probably go back a few times a year. Still, it's definitely worth the money for some special memories! Details: I booked via internet for a family package of 10 flights and video. That worked out to 2 a piece for the 5 of us, but you can divide them any way you want. It was extremely easy and simple. I called ahead to ensure I knew the timeline and suggested clothing. Get there about an hour early to sign waivers and be at the class, which will start about 30min before your flight time. Traffic in that area sucks, so figure that in. Jeans and a t-shirt with lace-up shoes will work fine, as they'll give you the jump suit, helmet, goggles, and disposable earplugs. My daughter somehow forgot her regular shoes and they had some spares for her. Everyone was very polite and helpful. We were invited to hang out in the area around the chamber to watch other people, which proved to be useful, as everyone watched for signals and technique and learned a bit. Plus it showed how low-key and fun it all is. Our instructor, Darron, was great with the kids and just all-around cool. From answering ridiculous questions to making funny faces in the pics with them (and getting them into optimum position for good pics) to helping them get suited up, he was great. Tips aren't expected, but I definitely slipped him a few bucks afterwards. They might have some extra time in the chamber before the next group is ready to fly, so you might get offered a few extra minutes' time at $20/min. Don't plan on this, but be ready for it if interested. It's a good deal compared to the regular rate. They'll offer to let you buy souvenirs and your pictures in the front area after you're done. $20 for 4 on a thumb drive (CD, email, and hardcopy are options too) is steep, but we were there for memories, so we did it. The family package included video of the whole thing, which was awesome. One thing I wish I'd done: bring someone who's not jumping so he or she can take pics from outside the chamber. They won't be the greatest, but they'll supplement the ones that you have to pay for. Apparently Costco sometimes has discount packages. I found specials online, but they were all for another iFly down in California. There is a military discount, but not for family packages--just for everything else (only complaint of the day). Flights are cheaper after the first time since you don't need the class anymore. Also, I think they occasionally offer discounts on their Twitter feed (iflyseattle). Afterwards, there are a million restaurants and an AMC theater within a 1/2 mile radius, so this is perfect for a date or a family outing. Summary: pricey, but very much worth it. Let's face it, where else can you do this cheaper and safer and bring your kids? Nowhere. read more

This place is amazing. My dh and I just went here to celebrate our third anniversary. He found a great deal at costco and we got double the fly time. We were a little skeptical that we would only get a few min a peice but soon realized it was all we needed. The adrenaline rush was amazing I will never forget that experience. The staff was amazing as well. There was a slight issue with our reservation that was immediately remedied. Darren our flight instructor made concessions for us to join his group and we couldnt have had a better person to make us feel comfortable and enjoy our time. Rizzo at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure that the issues with our reservation where taken care of and that we left happy! We paid a lot of money to do this and although everyone else had several in flight pictures taken, they managed not to get a picture of my son. When I asked her about it, she was very rude. Had so much fun. Bought a gift certificate/ voucher from Costco for a date night with my husband. I would absolutely recommend it for a fun date activity. Flights are quick (2 one minute flights). We also paid an additional $10 to do the high flight which is when your instructor takes you up an additional 15 feet and spins you around. I would also suggest this, as being in the small space just "flying" may get a little boring if you aren't switching things up. read more

They were very knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and fun! This location was clean, spacious, and played good music for the stander-bys. My Mother's Day Surprise today was a MAJOR WOW! It wasn't on my bucket list, but now it is & has been checked off. The training for the vertical wind-tunnel was adequate & reassuring. Our handler was fantastic & could re-gain control of me easily if necessary for each of my 2 one-minute thrills. In fact it was so much fun that all 5 of us (ages 8,11,45, 46, 70- that's me) opted for the extra thrill going to the top & bottom of the cylinder twice really fast. What a blast :) !!
