San Francisco is a fun place. Sometimes you see and hear the narrative of the negativity which happens in SF from people who don't even live in the city on social media. There are so many places you can visit in the city which have lots of activities especially during upcoming Summer months. Although there are few malls left in the city there is one place I like to go to for fun is the Japan Center Mall. There is one place for fun items and it's called iFun. On the last few days of Spring stroll in San Francisco I landed at the Japan Center Mall at iFun. Inside you will find blind toy boxes such as Lubu's and other animal creatures in SF. Inside you will see lots of people of all ages drawing and creating crafts. You will also find toys from Sanrio like Hello Kitty and Pikachu. This is a good place to find a gift. The iFun is a place where fine arts so creating art should be "fine" a place where you can "design"and draw outside or inside the "line"and also you can draw both the yellow cheese moon and an orange "sunshine" Go to iFun the place to get "artistic" and the draw the characters in SF and add color to their "characteristic" some are complex to draw and others are "simplistic "they say art is healing and can be "holistic" read more

They have a fun activity for kids where you buy an item (mirror between $20-30, jewelry box between $33-40, photo frame between $30-40, as a few examples on pricing), and they can glue on fun beads (mini food items, cartoon characters, flowers, letters, etc). The glue is the texture of frosting and in fact you squeeze it out from a tube like frosting so it's part of the decoration. Every kid gets to choose 2 colors, and they can also share between them. There are some limits like you can only glue on one side of the mirror, because they will tape it down to a paper plate and you can't glue to the other side. There was no one doing the activity on a Sunday around 2pm, except they told us we had to come back in 30 minutes because they needed to clean. We came back in 30 minutes and there had be absolutely no cleaning done (it was the same disposable tablecloths that had glue stains, the same excess pieces on the table). It wasn't overly messy, but clearly they just wanted to go on break, why didn't they just say that? You take your finished craft with you, and it takes 3 days to fully drive, but within a few hours it was hard enough that no beads could be accidentally pushed off of the craft. read more

Charged $52 for a $17 service, then blamed it on "mistake" The advertisement said $38 all day, but when I got to the store I was told it was $48, but that's not the worst part. I only spent one hour there, and the amount due was approximately $17. However, the cashier initially charged me $52. I questioned him on the spot, and he admitted to "making a mistake," then asked me to swipe another $17 as the correct amount, promising to refund the previous $52 (or cancel the transaction). Throughout the entire process, he greeted the white customer in front of him with a smile, but remained cold and arrogant towards me (an Asian person). I didn't check the bill, and that $52 just slipped through my fingers. First of all, the store is a mess. It's as if someone was selling these items out of their garage or front yard. Second, there was one person working there and they were not the most helpful or pleasant person. As someone WHO KNOWS NOTHING about these items and LABUBUS, she acted as if I were asking stupid questions. I ended up buying a Labubu (someone's gift) and it was A WHOPPING $65, for what??? Like many reviews mention... There is definitely one employee that should make an effort to be nicer to customers. I went to the counter to buy a cute keychain and proceeded to notice how one of the girls was packing up an already opened Sonny Angel giraffe hipper to be sold. I asked the girl packing it if I could purchase it as well and then the girl said "Yes." I said I'll buy it as well, with my keychain. She was even nice enough to ask if I wanted the box, but I said no. The other girl who was ringing up my purchase had the rudest tone with me. She said, "Uhh.. OKAY?!" Clearly upset she had to go back into the register to ring up one additional thing. Gee, sorry to inconvenience you that bad. She even proceeded to mutter something to her friend in a different language and they proceeded to act judgmental during the rest of the transaction. My total, the keychain (pictured) and Sonny Angel giraffe hipper came out to a total of $30.39 and for an ALREADY opened Sonny Angel and a small keychain--that total makes no sense to me. There was even a TIP SCREEN at the end. Why would I tip you for that tone? I remained nice to the girl, but questioning ever coming back. Despite the negative reviews lately, my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed this store. We went for the blind boxes and were genuinely shocked at the great variety of blind boxes available. A TON of Asian brands and a few Pop Mart IPs as well. All the boxes were a bit overpriced compared to if you were to get them directly off brand's retail sites (but instant gratification lol). The cashier was super friendly to us when we were checking out! Would definitely come back again to purchase more blind boxes. read more

I'm giving 5 stars because I had a blast with my niece and sister decorating my phone case. We had so much fun searching for the perfect charms/ gems/ pieces and figuring out the perfect place to put them. We each took turns and were giggling and having fun the whole time. Whenever I look at my phone I'll think of them. Core memory for sure. ***However*** I got here before 11 am on a Saturday. The store stayed dark for a while. My niece called them and a guy answered and was like duh it's not 11 am yet but that's when we open. Well 11 am passed. There started to be a line. More waiting. Finally two giggling girls ran up and opened the door but kept the close sign on and ignored the crowd. As they turned on the lights and got the place ready, no apologies or anything. One impatient customer just walked in, she only wanted to buy one thing and must have been in a hurry. Finally one worker opened the door. I walked in and said I'd like to decorate a phone case. She said ok . And went to the wall of colors and charms. I followed her but then she spent the rest of the time working on trying to turn on the music to the tv like her life depended on it . The music literally skipped the whole time we were in there btw (over an hour). I waited for her to finish with the tv but she ignored me. It looked like she was going to help me get prepared with the colors and or lead me in the right direction but she didn't. While I waited for her, I had time to read the signs on the walls and finally saw the you have to pay first sign so I said to her oh, I guess I go to the register first to pay? She said yes. Well wtf. Why didn't you just say that? I was hovering next to you because I thought you were going to help me, not bc I wanted to invade your space. The girl at the register was a lot more accommodating. Patient and helpful. She told me they didn't carry the phone case for my phone but I could decorate my own. It was about $27. She put my phone on a paper plate and taped it to make it stay. I grabbed a piping bag with my color and picked some charms and thought that was it. Couldn't for the life of me get the tip of the bag cut. Turns out they have to cut the tip of the bag and add a plastic tip but you again have to figure out that on your own. They won't come to you and tell you that. I was using the tweezers to poke a hole in the bag. Didn't even know you needed a plastic tip bc it's not readily accessible. So she'll come to you with scissors, cut the tip of the piping bag, and add a plastic decorating tip of your choosing. The tips basket I got all looked the same Then you pipe away, add your charms, and when you're finished, make sure you press your charms down so they hold well as they dry. Clean up your mess, put extra charms back, and hand the piping bag back to the register. They can hold it for you while you continue shopping or you can take your decorated items with you. She put another piece of paper plate on top and taped it which I thought was nice. Depending on how much piping is on your item it'll take 4-7 DAYSSSS to dry. It's a cute idea. I didn't think $27 was too much for a fun time with family. The charms are a little repetitive and light on colors. Let's say there's 8 bins, well two of each will be the same so technically only 4 different bins to choose from. In other people's TikTok videos they seemed to have way more choices of bins, colors, charms but the day I went didn't. I think maybe 8-10 narrow bins. I don't think they clean them between days and there's a lot of hands and fingers that rake through those charms. Including children's. They had blue, green, pink charms. Maybe orange. But not many other colors. All very cutesy. What they had was alright and I found things I liked but there's not a lot of variety. I don't think my 12 year old boy would be able to find anything to decorate his phone with if I bring him. So keep that in mind. The tools are all speckled and aren't clean so the smoothing tools won't completely smooth bc they have dried bumpy paint on them. I don't think they change out the plastic on the table either as it had leftover paint on them too. It got busy around noon. A lot of little kids were coming in just to listen to a song with the f word in the chorus on full blast which was making us laugh. Come early because I've read that the later hours get super busy and people take over the bins and it's hard finding charms without feeling rushed or battling for them. The store had some cute figurines and collectibles. 5 stars for the memories. 2 stars for the gal at the register bc the other one was useless. read more

I always have a good time here!! I've come twice, mainly for the Japanese style Decoden (fake frosting and many kawaii charms) DIY activity. It's set up very nicely, there are tons of blind boxes you can purchase to be the centerpiece, and there's a large area dedicated to crafting. You can also choose unlimited charms and two frosting bag colors. The staff is super nice and helpful. They also have other activities that look fun but I haven't tried yet. I'll be back probably! The store can entertain bored kids with arcade games, Vivid Workshops where you make DIY t-shirts, crafts like jewelry, you buy the beads. Impulse items include tea cups, small plates, cell phone cases, and like other places in the mall, a big selection of plushy toys & kids stuff that also appeal to adults. You're right across the way from a food court, restaurant row, and cool stationary, books, clothing, much etc. The Kabuki Theater is next door, so on a rainy day, you can entertain yourself for hours. read more

Went here early September! It was very busy, so we had to come back at a different time. We came mainly for the DIY deco part of the store, but they also sell other trinkets. The diy deco is something that you do at the front of the store, with a couple of tables with seating and lights/tools at each table. You pay for the blank phone case/clips or whatever you chose to diy first before decorating. The employees at the front were great and very helpful! It was a really cute activity, something fun and interactive to do with your bestie. We were looking to do the phone cases however it was out of our price range and the phone cases didn't seem very study. We went with the 4 for $16 (if I remember correctly) hair clips. We had unlimited deco cream colors and charms, and you're free to stay as long as you want. A person (maybe employee?) kept coming by to look over what we were doing, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable, but overall the experience and aesthetic was great, but with the price point probably won't come back. This store sells manyyyyyy knock off items for very expensive. I don't think a store in japantown should be selling knock offs of Japanese brands. Feels disrespectful and it's tricking young and older customers who might not be aware. Secondly, they open blind boxes in full view of customers, take out the rarest that they can resell online, and close up the boxes with a sticker or heat seal. That shocked me. Went in with a friend to make a decoden phone case and looked for a staff member to get started. Now I am not the person who asks store clerks or anyone working to smile or expect them to be happy, but this person was just rude and had a bit of a bitter attitude and only from telling her we wanted to do the decoden stuff. She looked like we ruined her day (she was also eating at the register???) and was short and abrupt with us. Even when she was looking for the specific phone case and didn't really care to listen, she got the wrong case and was pretty disgruntled when I told her it wasn't the right model. That part was just an annoying start to the process. So we started to collect the charms and... I saw the reviews of this place having bootlegged mascots/items, but I guess it's also with the charms as well. They don't have main mascots like Sanrio characters like it shows on their site and when you do see them they look wonky or are small and not very distinct (was looking forward to using a big charm as a center piece). I get they are the cheaper charms and I don't mind that, but it the fact that they don't even stock more familiar characters and bigger ones too (everything was the same size and have no dynamic look to them when you start to build up your case). You get to pick two colours for your "icing" bags and those weren't maintained very well so they were either dried up in the tips, or weren't prepared properly/messy. You can customise your piping tips but I had to learn on my own how to keep them on because they don't tell you how to work the stations and the piping bags (you need an extra bag to put over the icing bag if you wanna use a different tip but they don't let you know nor provide you extras). Overall it was still fun and would do it again but the set up and variety/quality of the charms were lacking along with the initial rude customer service and lack of info on what to do if you ran into issues. read more

I went to check out the place with my friends, while we were looking around I noticed their claw machine, I believe there was 4. They all had a note saying it's out of order except one which was filled. I made my way to the cashier and asked for the token. She started off with an attitude right of the bat, "they're all broken." I pointed out that one of them was not, she proceeded to roll her eyes at me while another worker started laughing. She went to the back (two steps) to get the token and again with the same attitude asked how many I said one and she aggressively handed it to me then snatched the money out of my hand. I went to the machine and it did in fact work and was able to get what I wanted. Her coworker did come over to see if it was working. Yes the place is very cute and sells many items however it is not worth the attitude and rude customer service. Despite her being so rude to me for no reason I still thanked her twice. If it was truly broken I would've been fine with an excuse saying "yeah it's broken but we just haven't had the chance to put up an out of order sign." I'm not trying to make anyones job difficult I only wanted to ask a question. So thank you for the $1 price and the attitude! read more

Then I tried to ask a woman at the workstation area if she worked there and she did not speak English. She used her phone translator from Chinese to have me speak into it. General warning to Sonny Angel collectors: this place sells fake Sonny Angels. It is not an authorized seller on the official website and the three we bought from here each had some pigmentation color issues and broke within a couple weeks. Comparing them to the Sonnys we had there was a noticeable quality difference. read more
