Food is overpriced: I recently bought for 11.99 an item that I found at 7.99 at the nearby Walmart. Service is inexistant, employees just don't care. Carts are nowhere to be found at certain times and you have to cross the whole floor to find one at the other exit, again because employees are out of f*** to give. The place is filthy, and I have bought way too many past date items, or things of dubious freshness to use Adonis as my main source of groceries anymore. At my last visit, emphasis on last, one of the items was not recognized at the cash register (and that has happens quite a lot at this store). The cashier made me wait for a price verification by a floor employee. After some awkward wait and no one showing up, I offered to go take a picture of the price label directly on the shelf, which I thought was a reasonable solution to save everyone's time. The cashier refused saying it has to be an employee. I will not let anyone insinuate I could be dishonest. I took it as an insult and left everything. That's it. I'm done with Adonis.

Immediately took them back to the store, which gave me a refund immediately, then walked with the meat dept. employee back to the meat counter, and explained what had happened. He took a sniff and tried to explain it was because they were marinated in wine. I persisted until he called another employee who sniffed the tray, and immediately recoiled from the stench. The entire tray was then removed, but it's concerning that it had been in their countertop cooler for at least 24 hours, next to many other raw meat products. While I used to like things like their raw chicken kebabs, I don't see myself buying these products anymore at Adonis, as the lack of oversight in leaving obviously rotten meat for sale for at least a day, if not more, is very worrying. Too bad. I still enjoy their fruits and veggies and their nuts & dates, as well as their deli meats and cheese counters.

T&T is the largest Asian supermarket chain in Canada. I went to the one of the Montreal stores,…read morethe first one I've ever been to and the experience didn't disappoint. It was very busy, with a full parking lot but there was a enough space for people to get around in the aisles. This T&T was massive, with a wide range of fresh and frozen groceries and meats, seafoods, as well as a bakery, chinese bbq station and a variety of supplies. Everything was well-organized and the staff seemed friendly. My wife and I are visiting, we're staying at a hotel with a refrigerator and stovetop so got frozen beef, fresh mushrooms and package noodle soups that we could make for snacks. We didn't get too much because we intend to experience the local restaurants and businesses. I can't comment on how the prices normally are but it seemed like they reasonable by current U.S. standards. We used the self-check out which was straight forward.

On our first visit, my husband and I stopped by this location this past Thursday night, 7 pm. The hot bar, right by the bakery was packed. Everyone was trying to scoop up food to purchase for dinner. There really wasn't much left except fried rice and chow mein. Because we were hungry, my husband ended up choosing some dim sum (siu mai and har gow). I purchased these cute steamed character buns (because why not?). I was also so happy to find this one particular tea bag that is honestly one of the best Hong Kong style, but hard to find back at home in the US where I am from. The price at this particular location was pretty good since this item was on sale (but even at the full price, it is still cheaper than buying it back at home) and wished I had purchased all the remaining boxes to bring back home since the T&T Supermarket in Ottawa sells these at a higher price. When we came back for a second visit, it was nice to see an employee at the jian bing (Chinese crepe) station, since it was not available to be made fresh when we had visited the night before. I am not sure what the price was but kind of regret not having one made fresh for us during this second visit (this is the only supermarket that I have seen that even has this available inside a market. The Asian markets I have frequent back at home have wheel cakes made fresh for purchase though). I like that there is a large dining area in which you sit and eat your food items with a actually a few different places you can choose from (including outside). There are also restrooms available too. This market was clean and everything was nicely organized. Overall, it was easy to navigate the store. Would definitely come back if I lived in Montreal.

There are random carts littered throughout with random items sold for shockingly low prices. As many other people have mentioned, there is a metric fuck ton of dried fish in the back. Yes, it's grungy in there, and smells weird, and is full of salty people, but I was able to get bags of groceries that fed me for an entire week for about $10. Admittedly that was a while ago, and I was a vegetarian back then, and I weighed less than 100 lbs, but hey I lived to tell this story. I was back at Segal's this past week, for a stroll down memory lane, and with the exception of some new security cameras and TV screens, it's exactly how I remembered it. It's still poorly lit. The refrigerated sections still have those yellowing plastic curtains. The floors are still dirty and it still smelled weird. Prices are a bit higher, but I would say keeping with inflation. They stock a few more organic items now. The bulk items used to just be in open tubs (like at Bulk Barn, minus the coverings), but are now in plastic garbage/recycling bins, with lids, lol. The "scoops" are plastic water jugs that are tied to the bins. Most are cracked or broken. I found this amusing. This place has apparently been around since 1927. Maybe it's just nostalgia speaking, but I have a soft spot in my heart for its "this is who I am, warts and all, take it or leave it" attitude.
