The motel is a family-owned property, and the hospitality from the owners was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. You can immediately tell they take great pride in their motel and care about the experience their guests have. The room and entire property were immaculately clean--honestly cleaner than many larger chain hotels we've stayed in. Everything looked freshly painted, well-maintained, and thoughtfully cared for. The landscaping and exterior were also beautifully kept, which made the whole place feel inviting and safe. What makes the White Sands Motel special is the personal touch you only get from a locally owned, family-run motel. Instead of the impersonal feel of big hotels, you feel like a valued guest here. If you're planning a trip to White Sands National Park, Alamogordo, or southern New Mexico, I highly recommend staying here. I have been to Riverbend Hot Springs 3 times, each time was belter than the last…read more This past December we were in the area so we made the journey to TorC for the Hot Springs. I had made the reservations about 3 weeks before. As with the last time I booked, I was very surprised that it wastn closer to sold out already. We have been to a few different hot springs some have been pretty cool, literally. The last one was outside Fairbanks Alaska in the winter. But one thing that is common at these spots is that they are communal pools. There tends to be a creeper now and then. But Riverbend has private pools, facing the Rio Grande. So this time I made note of the temps of each individual pool on the website, and got us the hottest one. It was perfect. It really does have pools that drop off right into the Rio. It was close to dusk and the river was flowing past the long shadows in front of us. The hour of relaxation flew by. It is the best we have been to. I am sorta happy that they arent so known as to be overbooked. Because we will be back again next time we are in the area.

Things you wish you knew and now you do! The inn actually predates the giant mimetic capsicum plopped in its parking lot. In the 1960s, the motel was a traditional Ramada Inn. Clint Eastwood once stayed there while filming Hang Em' High, and memorabilia from the shoot can be found in the lobby. By 2010, the hotel had gone independent, and was looking for a new way to stand out. Then-owner David Girle, an engineer from Australia, had friends in the Disney scene, so they together they imagineered the 47-foot chile behemoth out of two-and-a-half tons of concrete.

I can easily see a huge family gathering at this Inn. So many vast possibilities. I will help spread the word about this beautiful and inviting place near Elephant Butte Lake and White Sands. The rooms are decently spacious and the bath towels are huge! Downsides include a complimentary breakfast of cold potatoes, cold toast, cold eggs, and pretty good sausage. The shower is weak and oscillates between freezing cold and scalding hot. The amount of hair on the bathroom floor resembles a barbershop and tells me they don't clean the rooms very well.

At some point, this will be a nice place to spend a day or an overnight, but that day is not here…read moreyet. At the present moment, the hot springs has two pools open. One is tiny and maybe fits 2 actual adults, except the temperature in the spring is 110-111. That makes it very uncomfortable to sit all the way in. There is a pipe that pipes in cool water if you want it, but even with the thing running full blast, the water will not get below 108. Again, too hot for most people. The second tub fits 8 people although it is quite shallow. The temperature of that one was 102-103, which made it more comfortable to stay in for the entire 45 minute session. Now, here are the reasons why I am only giving the place 3 stars: 1. The place is undergoing major construction projects, resulting in large piles of dirt, yellow police tape, and poor signage, so that people coming to the site have no idea where to check in. To get there, you have to drive down a one-way sand road that goes underneath a railroad trestle. The area is not accessible to emergency vehicles. 2. There is no way to communicate with the person in charge without walking all the way back to the main office. 3. People are not clear on how long their sessions are supposed to be. There is no signage or instructions. The people right before us stayed in the pool for a full hour and then stood around on the deck getting dressed while we were getting in. What should be obvious from what I just said: there is no cleaning of anything between customers. 4. The existing pools have no privacy whatsoever. The owners are in the process of building a lot more pools that also have no privacy whatsoever. 5. The atmosphere surrounding the pools leaves something to be desired; not just the big piles of dirt, but the fact that in the evening you can hear the unskilled musical screamings coming from the Blue Moon bar in Radium. So, not peaceful, although inadvertently hilarious.

She couldn't get a hold of her by phone so she set off to personally locate her. Anyway, long story short we were able to get our top floor room. Both women working the front desk were soooo nice. They had sleds that we could borrow and take to White Sands. One of the ladies was so cute. She kept encouraging my almost 70 year old mother to do the sledding. (She did it!) They had a pretty nice selection of food for (complimentary) breakfast. We stayed at a Hyatt Regency in ABQ and they had no breakfast unless you wanted to pay for room service or go to the sit-down restaurant. The room istelf was clean and the beds were comfortable. No complaints. Totally recommend staying here.
