Great place to dine. Breakfast Lunch and Diner has never tasted soo good . I would most def come back.

Receipt

Stopped in late on a road trip, as it was something different on the way and near the highway. It's situated next to a hotel that is questionable for sure. Megan our waitress was friendly and adored our baby. She has some experience with other family members in the industry as noted when we questioned the bill below. We ordered 4 waters, kids side, jr. chicken strips, HF scramble, HF ham and cheese omelette and a waffle. Everything was about expected for an IHOP taste wise. Upon getting the receipt there was a $10.29 charge for the waffle. Upon asking we were told that's the price for 1 waffle and given some prices for Waffle House and Denny's. We could've ordered a whole other special meal for that price. Upon leaving went to use the facilities and they are lacking with upkeep throughout the building.

Great food. Nice waitress. Showed us where $6.00 breakfasts were on menu which I thought was very helpful. Buttermilk pancakes to die for.

This is a great location in an old federal building. Nice decor for this Smiths American Tavern…read more The bartender met us at the door, due to it being the middle of the day, and business being a bit slower, and we opted to sit at the bar. He was very social and answered all our questions and socialized about personal life as well. We ordered the Cuban eggrolls, and they were quite good but had smaller cubes of ham as opposed to pictures showing slices in some older pictures posted to this establishment. The drinks were spot-on. Although I may sound disappointed, I'm looking forward to trying more on the menu that they have to offer. I plan to return to try more. Recommended!

Smith's American Tavern is in historic downtown Lakeland and located in a converted post office…read more It is spacious inside, has a nice size bar area and plenty of TVs to watch sporting events. The atmosphere is dive bar friendly and there are so many cool niche areas for photos. Really loved the raised unfinished ceiling and the naked white brick wall which covered the side wall of the tavern. When you enter there is a hostess to great you. And our server almost appeared immediately. She explained the menu to us and the specials. What a great first impression. Unfortunately, there was a key piece of info we missed. There is a full bar, draft beer options and a decent wine selection. I ordered a draft beer and a flight of Mimosas. The beer was good, the mimosa flight not so much. Oh, and they have brunch specials on Saturday and Sunday, including unlimited mimosas at a 2 hour limit. For food, ordered the classic breakfast plate and a breakfast burger. Food was pretty good, but the burger was from a frozen patty, so not the best. Unfortunately they have some policy where they charge an extra $1 for the eggs. It is posted in the front, but nowhere on the menu. Suffice to say that experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Pun intended. They did remove the $1 but it took more effort that I would have liked and unfortunately the review and the server's tip suffered as a result.

It was my first time eating fried green tomatoes! They are a new favorite. Also loved the fried chicken, sautéed cabbage, the slimy okra, and rutabaga turnip. I will literally name it all. Tonight we tried Fred's market in Lakeland. This was our first time there and let me tell you it…read morewill not be our last time there. It is a very big restaurant, could easily fit a couple of football teams. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in the restaurant. Our server Brendan was amazing. Super high energy, super friendly and super on point with refills and making sure that everything was good with us. Honestly, he really did make our dining experience a pleasure. Now onto the food. So many options. A long buffet of salad. A long buffet of hot foods and plenty of side dishes. Desserts Yum. I started off with the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn casserole, macaroni and cheese, chicken and dumpling soup and a soft sweet roll. And that was just plate number one. I'm not gonna go over every single thing I ate, but let's just say I truly think that this place is a must go to for dinner, lunch or breakfast. We enjoyed our dinner so much tonight that we are actually going back again tomorrow to do this again. The menu rotates and changes daily so there's plenty of food options and it is all you can eat. So my advice is simple. Go to this restaurant and go hungry and be ready to meet some really nice people and have a really good time.

We've been coming here for the better part of 10 years. Seriously, this place is fantastic. Today we came in just after the lunch rush. And what makes me write a review after all this time is because The Reuben has been added to their sandwich lineup. I am a sucker for a good Reuben. I love some of the various versions out there like a Grouper Reuben or a Turkey Reuben but there is nothing like an original. The bread is their marble rye which was already freakin fantastic; patty melts are phenomenal here. The ratio of corned beef and sauerkraut was spot on perfect. Don't you just hate it when it's out of balance? The cheese was perfectly melted and the dressing was oh so good. It was sandwich heaven. My apologies for having no pictures. I don't know if I was especially hungry today or what, but when the food hit the table the hubs and I dove straight in.

We finally got a table to share with other people. My Mom and my older brother Bill ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage. They said the Corned Beef was pretty good, but the Cabbage was tough and not good. My brother Jonathan ordered the Pancake special with sausage and home fries. They didn't warn him that the pancakes would be green, lol. We thought it was pretty funny, but he said they didn't taste that good. He loved the rest of his breakfast. I had the French toast and bacon with hashbrowns and scrambled eggs. I loved the French toast and bacon, but didn't like the hashbrowns and eggs. It was really hit or miss. The restaurant didn't seem very clean either. We had fun anyway.
