I've been here 3 times in the past 3 months with friends. The first time, there was a strong, immediate smell of vomit (which can come from bacteria in rotting wood or a host of sources besides vomit). They had air fresheners stuck in every outlet. The odor has diminished the last two times, but we've all agreed- we're not coming back until the odor is completely gone. Quick test - inhale while you're between the 2 sets of entrance doors. BTW: I've eaten in IHOPs in Denver, Pensacola, E. Lansing, Baltimore... tho they can be older looking (the decor here is very nice), they don't smell. I'm a fan of IHOP, as crazy as it sound, they are one of my all time favorite restaurants. I usually don't prefer chain food restaurants. I would rather choose a ma and pops place to sit down and enjoy a nice breakfast. The saginaw IHOP is the best one I've ever ate at. You can't beat their raspberry white chocolate chip pancakes. They always hook it up with extra cream cheese sauce here, and which is my absolute favorite. read more

Before I ordered I looked at the meals the other customers were eating, their meals didn't look spectacular like the ones shown on TV commercials so I ordered Fish & Chips. The Fish & Chips I ordered was merely average. Contrary to a different review the service was excellent, if only the food was as great as the service I would have given a 5 star rating. read more

My friend and I stopped for lunch. There were so many dirty dishes and tables around us. They stayed dirty for around 20 mins. My waitress kept on placing dirty dishes from mine and other tables on the already dirty tables. The host went to go sit a family to a table had to walk them around the store, because it was dirty. I also ordered soup and it took 20 mins and it tasted like it came out of a can also wasn't very hot. This is not turning me away from the place, but it's eye opening to look out for it. read more

Love the food here but service is the worst I've EVER experienced and I'm 60 years old! (Not a grouchy old lady either.) We waited over an hour to be seated and get our food. By the time we were finished, my grandson was just getting the rest of his order, in a to-go box! Half the restaurant was empty and yet they weren't seating anyone. It was ridiculous! I didn't ask why; could be there weren't enough servers working?? Anyway, same thing happened 6 months ago at this location and over a year ago at the Flint location. Just very pour ability to get people seated. Always 3 - 4 (very young) employees standing around looking at the seating schedule and no one being seated. My husband and I went to your restaurant Saturday the 19th. Upon entering several people were leaving telling us that we should do the same. They told us that they had waited for quite a while to be seated and then waited for an hour to get there food. A young man then came out telling the couple before us that it would take a while to get their food because they were running behind and not able to get the food out on time. He then left without seating anyone. Another man cane out who looked like he must have been cooking because there was food stained all over his clothes. He had no apron on. He told us someone would be out to seat us but you could tell something not right for a restaurant was going on. We started to get a bad feeling about the place just as some other people that had been in and were now leaving told us that we should leave. You are a big chain but this place should not be able to carry your name. We will not go back and I am sure many others will not either. Unless something is done you will probably lose your establishment there. Word gets around. read more

I waited over 15 minutes after being seated and NO ONE came to offer me a drink or even say- I'm sorry give me on second and I'll be right with you. Similar experience the first time, poor poor service. I even went to the hostess desk but no one was there either. And there was less than 15 guests! Came in a few weeks ago and the place smelled like vomit and pee and nothing in the place was cleaned in spite of the the restaurant having few customers and employees standing around. Not only was the service here slow and unfriendly, but the one thing that really got me going was the lack of free refills. When I'm out with my four kids there are 2 things I look for, fast service and free refills because they need something to do. It was also slightly over priced I felt which made me feel even worse about eating here. Also my son has a football game and he didn't want soda so he got chocolate milk. One glass cost more than my order of hash browns at 2.60! I was quite unhappy with my experience as a whole. read more

We received a gift card to IHop for Christmas. Neither my husband nor I had been to one in over 30 years. We took our three kids (young teens and a pre-teen) here on a Friday evening. Our experience: Upon arriving, my son held the door for me and my daughters, as well as two ladies who walked in behind us. I was somewhat surprised when the hostess looked at the ladies first, asked how many in their party (they replied "two"), asked if they would like a booth or a table, and escorted them to a booth. Upon returning, she asked how many in our party, and, without asking if we would like a booth or a table, proceeded to escort us to the same size booth that the two ladies were taken to. It was a little cramped for the five of us :( Our waitress arrived promptly and we ordered our drinks. It took almost ten minutes to get them (the area in which we were seated was approximately 60% full). Upon ordering, my youngest daughter asked only for a bowl of fruit. A few minutes later the waitress returned and pointed out that if she ordered a kid's meal, it would come with a bowl of fruit and her entire meal would be free. I thought that was nice. It did seem to take long for our order to arrive, and I was disappointed that she brought our salads out with our entrees. While the dinner salads were mediocre (looked like bag salad, with no tomatoes), the dinners were fantastic. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was DELICIOUS. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated, and our waitress was very attentive. I did leave her a nice tip, only because the food was so good and she was so attentive. We'll definitely come back, and just hope that our food arrives faster next time. read more

My wife and I noticed while we were entering that the curbs are all busted up, which is a trip hazard and the concrete was almost black with like a grease film all over it, when we entered there was no one at the front counter to greet us and the front was really dirty looking, a waitress that was serving someone right next to us, seen us waiting and never said a word, she just walked to the back. We decided to seat ourselves and as soon as we sat down, we noticed that the coffee carafe that they have sitting on our table (like on all of the tables) waiting to be used was never washed!! The coffee carafe had dried coffee spots and runs down the side of it and around the top of it. We were never approached by anyone while we were sitting there, so we just walked out. It wasn't even busy and we still couldn't get waited on by any of the waitresses we saw!! Totally unacceptable considering all of the other restaurants that we could have chosen that are close to your restaurant. You should take pride in the way your restaurant looks inside and out, and customer service should be important to your staff. read more

Having ate at other IHOPS, I thought it was a sure bet, boy was I wrong, as we walked through the front doors, we were greeted by a fowl odor and dirty entrance. As we were seated, we had to clean off the seats we were seated in and the high chair for our son was disgusting we had to basically scrub it before we would let him sit int!! This was not a very good start...so we order our food and our sons fruit comes out, then 15 minutes later out comes our food, minus our sons, who is 19 months....5 minutes went by before his food came out and all it we ordered him was eggs!!!! Now anyone who has a child that young knows this didn't work out well. The quality of the food was poor, the service was poor and the restaurant stunk. Needless to say if we want IHOP again, we will be going to Mount Pleasant. read more

We have been to this location when it first opened,, all was good, service food, etc, but the last two times we were there the food was barely hot, and the service just plain sucked,,of course the managers had some lame excuse "i was in the kitchen cooking" or whatever.... last night we went,, one more (and last) time. There were 3 cars in the parking lot,,, food should have been out quick, instead 3 tables that came in and ordered after us were served first. the waitress finally brought our food and disappeared not to be seen again even though we had asked for some butter and water,,, we actually thought she had left for the night,, we talked with the manager who said she would take care of it... My husband and I ate here yesterday. When I ordered I told the waitress that I have a severe allergy to dairy products so my food had to be cooked without milk, butter, or margarine. The eggs had a buttery taste but I assumed they used some type of oil instead. Shortly after leaving the restaurant I started breaking out in hives. The hives have turned into open sores and I have ulcers in my mouth. I have been sick all day in spite of medication. This is extremely negligent and disrespectful of customers.
