We went on Fathers Day and it was not busy at all. Still took 10 minutes before anyone came to seat us. When we got to the booth it had a huge rip in it so someone had to sit uncomfortably on it. We waited 10 minutes to get drinks and we ordered an appetizer which took about 1/2 hour and it was completely burnt, couldn't even bite into. Our order took over an hour to get to us. We received the wrong order and it was beastly hot in there. I used to come to this place really often when I was a kid with my family. After some of the infamous videos showing awful violence in this building, though, I've avoided it despite wanting to come back for their Chocolate, Chocolate Pancakes. In fact, their Chocolate, Chocolate Pancakes were one of my favorite things to eat as a kid. Recently, I decided to go ahead and come and risk it, though. First thing I noticed was that the building has seen better days. It's definitely not "awful", but you'll notice it if you look carefully. Some of the booths have tears, and the bathroom doesn't have shiny gleam anymore. There's a couple spots where it looks like wallpaper is peeling too. It's not run-down enough to be a concern, but if you remember it from years ago, you'll see that not much has been done in terms of renovation to make this place look nice. Everything felt sticky. That wasn't so pleasant. The table was sticky, and all of the syrup bottle handles were sticky as well. I know syrup tends to get sticky and it's staple of most breakfast places, but honestly, I've never been to a place where so much was sticky. My drinking glasses, silverware, and food plate were okay, but still, it became where I didn't want to touch anything. The menu was just as amazing as I remember it. Compared to other breakfast place, IHOP just has so many more options. It's actually at a point where I couldn't pick what I wanted to eat because I wanted to eat multiple things. Normally, I have to narrow down to what's LEAST offensive. Here, there were tons of things. Obviously, though, I went with my childhood favorite of Chocolate, Chocolate Pancakes. My foodmate (is that a word?) also had the same time to choose between all of the great options. We placed our order and waited. No big deal. Well, ten minutes later, the waitress comes back and lets us know that they are out of chocolate chips. (Is that even a thing? They're less than a block from like 3 grocery stores) They, however, already made the chocolate pancakes, so I end up making some mutant zombie mutation request between chocolate pancakes with strawberries and bananas. They're okay making it. The waitress, while seeming a bit confused about everything, was very nice and courteous. She also was pretty attentive. She's definitely above-average on waitress quality. The food itself was okay. My foodmate said the french toast and bacon was absolutely amazing, but the pancakes and eggs were on the "meh" side. I enjoyed my pancakes, but it wasn't really what I originally wanted, so I wouldn't rate them too highly. They were okay. The bill was reasonable, and it was promptly taken care of. There was an error on the bill (an ironic error, even, because they charged me for "extra chocolate chips" despite, y'know, being out of chocolate chips), but when I pointed it out, the waitress was happy to change it. Final thoughts: I'm not sure I would come here again. It wasn't downright awful, and I wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves because I really want to love my pancakes, but I'm not sure it's ever going to be the place I once loved. Empty tables everywhere and we waited 14 minutes to be said hello to. Another 5 minutes of waiting and we walked out. We noticed the cooks had no hair nets, no beard nets, bare hands. People were returning under cooked food left and right as well as eggs with shells still in them. We drove to to Perkins got right in and had a great meal. Recommend the same. read more

Let me start out by saying that my girlfriend and I enjoyed eating here until this visit. we had a group of 5 people in this visit. The wait for the food was very long. The food tasted bad. Very disappointed. Walked in and the workers stared at us and didnt seat us. It took over 15 minutes to be addressed by our server once we were seated. Within this 10 minute span we saw a large table walk out after not reciving their food over an hour after they ordered it. I ordered a small hot chocolate and 2 other ordered shakes. It took so long to get the hot chocolate and one of the shakes that my food (the worst pancakes I have ever eaten) came out at the same time. The second shake didn't come out until the pancakes were half gone. The server never asked if we needed anything or refilled drinks didnt even ask if we wanted drinks. I regularly go to IHOP to eat and enjoy it. This however was absolutely awful. Food, drink, and service was not up to regular standard of the other IHOPs I have been to. read more

This delightful little chain-dive is great if . . . A). You want great tasting pancakes. -They really are the best around. B). Entertainment while you eat. -Locals gather here to start miniature ghetto-riots and throw chairs. C). Getting surprises! -You will get something entirely different than what you ordered. -The staff are gracious and will think nothing of it. D). Having servers not know they sell hamburgers. -They will argue the point despite having it on their menu. E). Need a place to go laugh at drunk and/or high teenagers at night. The great pancakes are almost worth a second star . . . almost. For some reason we still choose to patronize this establishment on occasion, and while we are there we experience a feeling that can almost be described as enjoyment. But . . . it's like going home with someone from a bar. When it's over, and you're sobering up, you start to realize who/what you did and start to feel ashamed and sick and wonder if you need to get checked for something. Saturday 09/14/2019 Called placed an order for pickup. Arrived employee brought me carry out order which another customers order. Employee swipes credit card without coming to advise me order was ready. Manager Carl went an assessed the situation brought my credit card back advise order was coming up. When in fact my order wasn't ready. Didn't apologize the first time he was made aware of the situation. I would have been willing to wait had the manager handled the situation a little bit better. In result, left hungry and very upset because my food wasn't ready in the timeframe advised. On top of having my credit card swiped and now having to wait for a refund to be processed. Visiting Waterloo, IA. my wife and I took her sister and my brother out to dinner. I chose to eat here because we had eaten at the ones in Cedar Falls, Ia. and DeKalb IL. and found them to be very good. The food at this one was way below par. I ordered the pot roast and the beef was small pieces that appeared to have been over cooked. Although I didn't like the appearance I decided to try it. It was as bad if not worse than it looked, cold and a bad taste. I was actually insulted that they would serve something like this. I told the waitress that the pot roast was cold and not edible and she ask if I would like to have it redone. I told her no and she ask if she could get me anything else. I told her no I would go somewhere else to eat. The other three had burgers, which they said were ok but not great.t I forgot to mention that there was a not fresh smell about the place. read more

Such a great experience! We have always known IHOP to be a solid choice when traveling but today it was like an oasis. We'd gotten caught in the rain that morning so the hot coffee, warm atmosphere and friendly staff were so comforting! But the service and food was second-to-none. OK how do you screw up eggs hamburger and hashbrowns? This location actually was able to complete the trinity of bad breakfast. The eggs were runny, the hamburger was overly salty and the hashbrowns were undercooked. Three bites for $13 making that very expensive breakfast. Usually go for breakfast but have been there for lunch and dinner also. I don't know what it is but they have the best hash browns!! I always order mine well done and they are perfect every time. They are always packed on the weekends but we seem to get seated very quickly!! The coffee is always hot and fresh!! We always have great service but our favorite server is Olivia. Me and my husband came in late Saturday, early morning, on our way out of town. We waited a long time to be seated, it was very busy. Our server Jenna was excellent but she was taking care of half the restaurant, another girl came in and was yelling and cussing at her and everyone, obviously inebriated and touching peoples food and she was barely dressed and had on flip flops. Another server was just sitting on her phone ignoring customers. I tipped my server well bc it was not her fault and was doing everything possible to get to everyone and provide service but it didnt look like the other employees were doing too much besides talking to their friends. I felt bad for her as she said she was somewhat new. I run a restaurant and I could tell what was going on. That said, food was good. I'll give it 3 stars because our server was good. I figured ok, one cricket, waitress walks away and my son tells me another cricket on the booth, I tell waitress while son missed killing it. I'm a huge fan of breakfast while eating out and IHOP has always been a staple in the past. We stopped around noon on a Sunday and they were extremely busy, yet managed to seat us and feed us in a timely manner. The food is what you'd expect from an IHOP (good but not great, except for the pancakes... Those were awesome!). We'll definitely go back in the future because it's a known and very cost friendly. We really enjoyed the fact that things were kept moving and we didn't have to wait very long. read more

Food was good except for a few minor details: - Gf got the stuffed French toast and there wasn't much filling at all - I got the lingon berry crepes and there were fewer lingon berries than I've gotten in the past from other IHOPs. Maybe they've just cut back in recent years. We were seated immediately and our order was taken quickly, but the waitress didn't ask if we wanted any drinks. Every time she came by to check up, she quickly left before anyone could respond. This place is absolutely repulsive. From the terrible service to the horrible food the experience was simply distasteful all the way across the board. I'm from out of town and was hopping to grab a quick bite to take back to my hotel but unfortunately that never happened. I called to place an order and was informed that they didn't take phone orders after 10 pm. So then I went in to place the order and upon receiving the order the host stated that everything was in the bag despite half of the order actually missing. When I called to address the issue the manager was utterly rude and spewed all types of racial slurs. To top it off she then proceeded to hang up the phone and refused to answer it. After traveling all the way back to the restaurant to return the food and get a full refund, I was told that I would have to come back a third time because the manager wasn't there despite knowing that we were on the way back.
