Service was quick and nice. One thing to mention is it's kind of open air so later in the dinner began to get a little bit of bug bites. But other then that

It is a disgrace that one of the very few well-known restaurants in the south side of Vieques…read morechooses to employ people who are clearly more interested in demanding tip money than in providing a respectful customer experience. Tonight I dined at La Placita with a group of friends, and the experience was absolutely unacceptable. Our waitress, an older white woman, brought the check to the table and then stood over us while we were trying to pay, refusing to give us even a moment of privacy to review and complete the payment comfortably. The second she saw the tip amount selected on the card machine, she aggressively grabbed the device from the table and said, "¿En serio?" ("Really?") -- ironically, the only Spanish she spoke to our table all night. It was an incredibly rude, humiliating, and uncomfortable moment. We were still leaving a tip based on the options provided on the machine; it was not as if we had entered an insulting amount ourselves. That interaction completely ruined our evening and changed my entire perception of the restaurant. I asked to speak with the manager, Katy, another white woman, and her response was just as disappointing. She was dismissive from the moment she arrived, repeatedly responding with "okay" while I explained what had happened, showing absolutely no concern for the situation. At the end, all she offered was a generic apology, with no accountability and no genuine interest in addressing the behavior of her employee. What makes this even more upsetting is that I travel to Puerto Rico frequently and have consistently experienced the warmth, kindness, and appreciation of local Puerto Ricans, who are grateful for any tip given. To encounter this level of entitlement was shocking. This waitress made us feel pressured and judged, as if we were obligated to leave the highest tip option available regardless of the quality of service we actually received. Tipping should be voluntary and based on the service provided, not something customers are intimidated into giving. Honestly, if this waitress cannot treat customers with basic respect unless they leave the tip amount she expects, then she should not be working in a position where her paycheck depends on gratuities. Someone with that attitude toward customers belongs in a job with a fixed payroll salary somewhere else, not in hospitality. A server who openly shows anger and resentment over a tip has no business working in customer service. This was one of the most uncomfortable restaurant experiences I have had in Puerto Rico, and it is truly shameful that a place with such a good reputation would allow customers to be treated with this level of disrespect.

Finally got the chance this past weekend. Sometimes when you build an anticipation for something long the experience ends up disappointing. I'm happy that wasn't the case here. My expectations were met and more. The fish tacos were excellent. The Mahi Mahi was fresh. I wouldn't be surprised if it was caught that morning. And the tortillas tasted like they were made in house, not store bought. My wife's carnitas bowl an son's carne asada tacos were also phenomenal. I was considering a beer but decided to go with a margarita instead. The waitress suggested the watermelon margarita for a lighter refreshing taste. I went with it and she was right, refreshing m, light but with a slight punch. Went down smooth. I'd like to try the regular margarita next time. Service was friendly and the food came out quick despite it being packed the day before Thanksgiving. Ambaince is fun. Great place to hang out but also family friendly. Definitely don't skip this spot when in Culebra.

I've never had an orange flan before, but the waitress recommended it. This was probably the best thing we had. Margaritas are also very good.
