Who doesn't like IKEA ha? It shares a parking lot with the Broadway Mall so there's plenty of parking. There's also covered parking which is nice in bad weather. They also have parking right out front for loading your purchase if you need it. Most of the store is upstairs though the first level has the checkout counters, and the food section as well as a cafe where you can get drinks and hot dogs I believe. And Ice cream as well. Once you get upstairs you just have to follow the arrows on the floor and they have signs for what sections you're entering. For example, living room, bedroom, office, etc. I think the best part of IKEA is the layouts they have. They have bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, kitchens etc all set up different ways. It's great way to get ideas on how to set up your space. Of course there's also the full service restaurant on this level as well. read more

5/25 This is not my first time coming to IKEA. Every time I cime it's always excitingi love the exciting displays and suggested hone decoration ideas. It's like a maze so if you haven't been to IKEA, it's not quite like The Maze Runner, but you will be in there for hours. I just went along for the ride as my party of four were just cruising along in our automobile with no particular place to go. We were just out! I did manage to find something useful, I handly coffee/tea strainer. I found great values here and I also picked up food storage containers at a good price. The service was okay, it could have been better if we weren't forced to use the Kiosk for self checking. The reason given was that they were short staffed. Well in my opinion get ride of the Kiosk and hire people. I'd call out too if I knew that the job would go well without me. My rant about kiosk is over! Inspire more, Yelp more! read more

I love IKEA of Hicksville! I could spend the whole day there and would still have plenty to look at the next day. lol it's one of my favorite places to shop and eat too! Yesterday I bought another tall container for my 5 cent plastic/glass bottles and aluminum cans. IKEA's resealable bags are awesome because each box has two different sizes which adds to the variety I need at home. Last time, I also bought cool laundry bags that I can wear like a backpack. Makes transporting laundry much easier! lol IKEA of Hicksville definitely deserves two thumbs up from me! lol They are so helpful and usually kind and caring there too. Decided to try the fish balls platter. I only got 8 since I didn't know if I would like them. I was offered sauce so I said yes. Well -- I didn't like it too much. White fish which was flaky, not like Asian mashed fish or like school lunch. The cream sauce wasn't flavorful but the lingonberry sauce was helpful in making the fishballs tastier. The steamed or boiled vegetables definitely reminded me of school lunch. Don't think this is something I would order again. read more

My sister and I were starving one day after Round 1 with the nieces and needed something small to eat before dinner so we decided to check out the food in IKEA. All of the items were very affordable and the quality was great as well. She got an ice cream cone and a hot dog I believe that was topped off with crispy onions which she devoured. I was able to sneak a bite in of both as well and the crispy topping on the hot dog was delicious and added a nice depth to the hot dog but I am biased because I usually love hot dogs. The ice cream was great as well, had a light soy flavor but it was creamy and very enjoyable. I got the Meatball Sundae. I know that IKEA is known for their Swedish meatballs and I did not want to ruin my appetite by getting a whole meal so the meatball sundae was perfect! The meatballs were laid on top of a chunk of mashed potatoes and topped off with gravy and a smidge of cranberry sauce. I cannot say that I was a fan of the combination with the cranberry sauce but that was a quick fix. After scooping up the cranberry sauce to the side, the meatballs were nice and tender and you really can't go wrong with mashed potatoes and gravy. The ordering was made very simple through a kiosk and the staff was very sweet, double checking with me if I did want the cranberry sauce on top before slathering it onto the food. I will be back again the next time I am in the area after Round 1. read more

I instantly knew when I walked into the store that the worker named Robert had a weird sexy gaze looking at me. when I went to the back of the store, I saw Robert making meatballs for me, but instead of the usually sauce, their was a warm white glaze over the meatballs which tasted very salty and sweet. would not reccomend going here. although there was fan in the kitchen was kinda cool tho so 3 stars read more

This IKEA looks revamped to me. The showrooms are so fun to walk through. You could literally spend hours walking through the store trying to look at everything. Everytime I come I end up buying something for a kitchen, for my bedroom or at least lunch from the nifty and delicious food court! read more

My favorite place in the whole world is ikea! I went around 6:30 and the cafe was closed sadly. The hotdog was 1 dollar which i liked and there was a wide selection on different things you could buy! Such a cool store. Not your typical store. It's a showroom and at the end you can buy smaller items and pick up the pieces of furniture you want based off their number. Food court is quite tasty and very cheap! The vanilla yogurt cone is SO good. read more

I came to the open area first floor to use the wifi where they sell hotdogs & yogurt. I've had internet/wifi for 23 years, renting all over, but life is not perfect & find myself without wifi for the moment, which is still needed to you know ....be productive, work, help people, find next roof, network,...the skies the limit................. (I've been living in Hicksville for 12 years, different parts of my life) Ikea has outlets in front of each & every stool against the wall with a charging station on top. (mind you, someone tried the charging station, where I was at & they could not get it to work)... Why would they put all these outlets in the wall, if weren't allowed to sit there.....so people can plug in & test their appliances??? Um. No. I was there for a couple of days, then took off one day, then worked in the city another day, then back at Ikea for 1 day, then the next day, early, a short manager surprisingly came up to me saying he's been "observing" me here all day & I'm not allowed, saying it's a restaurant "would Panera Bread & other restaurants let you, no", is what he said... FIrst of all I know first hand, certain people are in Panera bread all day long. I simply do not like the atmosphere, everyone is different. I chose Ikea because it's very casual, open & have outlets a lot. The very first thing he says to me before that, is ARE YOU EVEN EATING MY FOOD? It sounded so narcissist, considering it's Ikea's food not his & he felt like a fool CUZ I JUST BOUGHT HOTDOGS A COUPLE OF DAYS PRIOR... & side note, bad experience buying hotdogs previously...Those machines are awful. The lady came out & kept telling me to re-swipe. I told her I did not feel comfortable how many times im swiping i dont want to be charged double. She said wasn't going to. Sure enough I got home & TWO charges of 2 hot dogs each were on the card. It was 2+2 pure as day... So I came in the next day & right away WITHOUT LOOKING AT ANYTHING, she cuts me off, lady working there & says NO YOU WEREN'T. I could not believe how ignorant & foolish she sounded without even listening AS IF I would waste my time over $2 if I wasn't really double charged! So getting hotdogs to begin with didn't go well (that's why this time I used cash).... So he said I'm using TWO stools (OMG) & taking up the table.... So not true...I was not taking anything away from anybody! During the week it's so slow, there are empty tables & chairs everywhere & infact I watched people move stools & chairs around like crazy all day long to suit their party quantity! Mind you they don't even put anything back when they are done! He mentioned my "product" on the table, talking ridicuously, talking about my 3 bags.....they were 3 bags that were my personal belongings not "product". 1 tiny bag that is my pocketbook, 1 bag for my laptop because you know I can't carry it on my head & another bag for food & anything else I need while out....I purposely put them against the wall, horizontally, so someone can STILL USE THE ENTIRE TABLE. I wasn't even using the table! I was using the uncomfortable high stools! One for my butt & the other for my laptop! Anybody couldve easily moved stools to that table & used the table! I purposely went in the corner out of the way & discreet. I'm only 100 pounds & very neat & clean! He tells me can't stay there all day using as a "work station"....when today, Saturday, in the morning, but closer to 12, sometime when I passed, not exaggerating, there were ZERO people dining there!!! While I'm not allowed there! & unfortunately, I had to run into him again. I asked a worker if they sold wire chargers for tablets, I was curious how much they cost, & he was standing right there chatting with them & he blurts out, WHAT IS SHE LOOKING FOR...IM GOING THAT WAY....YEA RIGHT....you're mean, no compassion & think I'm going to start walking with you?! There's a reason only 2.8 stars, seems like don't really know how to treat people! I'm so loyal I still have all my Ikea stuff from 2002 my very first apartment! The 4 wired drawer baskets system in a furniture piece, the plastic bag holders & other stuff..... I was not bothering anyone, not in the way, I'm a helping hand to anyone around, I am constantly helping people & people always thank me & ironically enough I also had the yogurt & swedish meatball sundae the next day, when someone on their own, I never asked, was so thoughtful & decided to want to buy me them! More business to "his" food! ............... (On a diff note, the bathroom automatic soap dispensers, none of them worked, there's nobody obviously checking anything; the "new technology" dryers in the bathroom unlike any other dryer, are horrible, takes forever to turn them on & the repetative giant moving talking sign, when you walk into one of the entrances, repeating like 12 news, is a waste of electric, no-one is watching it, but the regulars have to listen to the same thing over & over........yes there are regulars there.... read more

There once was a time where IKEA's food was cheap but mediocre and now it's just mediocre. I decided to split half a swedish meatball meal with my mother as neither of us wanted to eat a whole portion, good intuition I must say. The meatballs used to be pretty tasty but now they're just spongy, unseasoned, and NEED lingonberry sauce to make them palatable. The rice and veg were both bland as ever and were beyond saving. So, they wonder all over the place evert time the floor is uneven. They impossible to keep straight. My knees feel like they're going to explode every time we shop here. You wanna make an actual turn with the cart? It's like a drifting event. You have to go real wide around the cart and push at a 46 degree angle. You wanna go straight on the sidewalk that's tilted toward the street?? You have to push the cart at a decent angle, pointed away from the street. Basically, view from behind, it's like watching an old, decrepit car "crab walk" or "dog track" its way down the highway. Except, you're the guy driving the car. With your knees. This place is nuts! We had 2 failed attempts at going here so far, and one successful trip getting in, only to find out what we came there for was sold out. The line to get in was wrapped from the entrance into the parking lot. This was at 10am when they first open. The store is limiting how many go in at once which is great, however the line to get in is unbearable. No amount of Swedish furniture is worth waiting hours in line for. Masks were required to get in, however once in the store manny people get traffic jammed into certain areas of the showroom, defeating the whole social distancing goal. The online ordering is very frustrating. Because we live within a certain distance of a store, delivery is not an option for us. They do offer online purchase and pick up in store, but there are a very limited number of spots available for this option. I was told by an employee that I'd have better luck winning the lottery than scoring a pickup slot on a weekend. Don't get me wrong, it's much better than the place being closed, it's just frustrating as a consumer to see such a big name operation, flounder when so many other big box stores seem to have done great with making things work for them in the wake of this pandemic. read more

The food is good but the servers are rude and aggressive. I asked for lingonberry sauce and the server shouted at me because I didn't ask for it before ordering. The sauce was right next to her hand. I handed my plate to another server who added it and I smiled thanked them. The server continued to scream at me. Not sure what's going on there. Maybe IKEA doesn't treat staff well and they are disgruntled. Poor experience. Not the first time restaurant staff have been angry and rude. Such an uncomfortable experience for myself and my child. Shopping here during COVID-19 has definitely been interesting. The line to get in looks long but wasn't too bad. We waited 30 minutes and was able to get in on the first round. From there, it's like a mad dash. We opted to skip the showroom and visit the marketplace. It's fine early in the morning but does feel very crowded an hour in. The line to pay works much better in the current format. While the line looks long, it moves quick and feels much more efficient than picking my own lane pre-COVID. If you came for your meatball meal, fret not, because it's still available. The restaurant is closed but they sell a few dishes in the bistro area (aka ice cream spot). Perhaps its all in the plating but it feels like a significantly smaller dish! (Plating makes a difference) I do like the containers they put the food in because it makes it for a quick and easy meal in the car. Disclaimer: i'm only speaking to ikea's veggie hot dog here. Apparently, IKEA is moving towards a more sustainable/healthy future + is starting to feature plant-based meat alternatives. BEWARE. THIS AIN'T IT. They definitely missed a step somewhere. When I saw the sign for a 1 dollar veggie hot dog, I got so happy! After taking the first few bites, my hopes were crushed. The dog was dry, unflavorful, and left a muddy aftertaste in my mouth. Sadge. I had to add boatloads of mustard/ketchup. They did a good job with the onion crisps and radish on the top tho. IKEA = The place you go when you don't need anything and end up with a cart full of random stuff. Most of the time I goto IKEA with nothing really in particular that I wanted and ended up with a cart full of stuff I didn't know I needed. And in the instances when I do have something in mind, I can't think of an time when I've wanted something and not found it on the shelf. Kitchen gadgets, bathroom essentials, and closet storage optimization generally fill my cart. Most of the pieces aren't expensive but then you get to checkout and you've spent $75 bucks and you're trying to figure out "HOW IN THE WORLD?" If you have kids you are in luck, as there is a kid playland for you to drop off your little munchkins so you can shop in peace. Depending on when you visit there may be a line or worse a waiting list to get them in. There is enough for the kids to do while they are inside and right before checkout there is a shortcut to pick them up. The checkout lines can be pretty bad on a weekend. The parking lot right next to the store is convienent and generally not full with the exception of the holidays. read more

My first time trying the cafeteria food at IKEA. I left pleasantly surprised, they had limited vegetarian options so I went with a plate of veggie balls and they were quite delicious. Not good enough to buy them frozen and Make them at home myself but a solid 4/5 meal when I'm hungry. The gravy and vegetables address the right amount of flavor. While kind of pricey at $9 a plate, the workers are always nice and accommodating. Not to mention the veggie hot dog's downstairs are my all time favorite go-to. 100% recommend!! read more

I've come here countless times already, but everytime it feels like a new and fun experience. There's a wide array of different furniture, chairs, sofas, shelves, kitchen countertops, lights, etc, that fits your style and taste. You never get bored here because it feels like it's always changing or perhaps it's that maze affect they have, you never really know where you are or what might be next. When you have questions, the experience I have had with the representatives have always been pleasant and they have been nothing but professional and helpful. There is a very kind and affectionate cashier named Larissa whose expansive personality makes everyone feel better about themselves. She is lovely with well-behaved and hyperactive children, seemingly weak elderly customers, happy or disgruntled adults and otherwise content persons who do not know how much more they can be grateful about. In the rare instance there are no customers on line, she immediately makes herself available at other close-by stations like the drink / coffee servers to ensure hygiene and comfortable order. Flawless work ethic. Her contributions to the Swedish Food Marketplace have not gone unnoticed by customers who gravitate back to places they feel most welcome and recognized. Poorly labeled short cuts and zombies asking for help because they have been trapped for hours in the maze. The parking and pickup areas must be designed by an elementary school kid. The roads lack logic and can be unsafe. Roadways are narrow and accidents prone. I try to go to the Brooklyn location when possible. read more

I just want to know... Why does almost everyone who works here seem to hate their job and their customers so much? Came here yesterday with the intentions of purchasing a new tv stand along with some kitchen gadgets. A few weeks back, it was almost impossible to get in due to long lines and cafeteria was closed but yesterday, I was super lucky to have only waited 10 minutes outside and to my surprise, the cafeteria is reopened and ready for dining! The server at the food stations had a serious major attitude problem with me and they were skimmed on my food vs when I look at how they filled others, it was a ton. The cashier guy was the only nice employee I've seen the entire time I was there. After eating, we were instructed to leave our trays and plates on the table and someone would come collect them. I saw someone cleaning up trays and placing them into a rolling tray rack but I didn't see them disinfect the tables and chairs (so what is the point?). I also want to mention that the staff does not try to clear crowds whatsoever. There were tons of people just bunched up (definitely not a whole family) and staff just squeezes through without telling everyone to keep their distance. As I went downstairs to grab my kitchen gadgets, yet again... lots of crowded areas with staff not saying a single word to social distance. Upon checkout, the lines moved fairly quickly but the cashiers doesn't care to call the next person so I am standing there like an idiot waiting to be called (just in case they were busy doing something). I walked over after the line lead had directed me to that register and to my surprise, the cashier was on her cellphone and didn't bother to greet me. That's super rude #1 and #2, they usually ask for the Ikea member card and she didn't care to do any of that. I believe she was also chewing gum under her mask. That is super disrespectful! After I paid, she just hands me my receipt and continued to give the "idgaf" look. After that horrible experience, I decided to pick up some ice cream before leaving. We had ordered a few with 1 being a sundae, 1 strawberry flavored, and 1 vanilla, along with a slurpie. The cashier raised her voice at us instead of kindly asking us if we wanted a specific flavor and rudely spoke to my bf's mother. That is not okay and she clearly spoke to her in English so I don't get what the deal is with that cashier. This was around 6:30PM 12/06/2020. IKEA in Swedish means - "Lets Torture Americans" My youngest son tells my wife he needs new furniture. My wife starts looking at Macy's clearances and other stores, the magic number was $700. Wait a second, there is no way junior is getting a $700 piece of furniture when my Wrangler needs new fender flairs. Not happening. I take my wife to IKEA and she goes wild. She finds a nice chest of drawers, $129. Nice price right? The next step is to pay for the device. You get a bin number where the furniture is located and bring it to the register. The large box comes in two pieces, I load each 100 lb box on the cart and wheel it to the register. I pay for the items and load it into my SUV. Once home is where the fun begins.... Now I have to put it together. The screws are Swedish. No allen key screw heads here buddy. You provide the tiniest screwdriver and don't strip the head or then you'll need to run to Ace for another screw driver. I pretty much spent Sunday afternoon building this piece. Its cheap pressboard material, a few missing parts and my time. Was it worth it, I don't know. I saved money, had a look their nice cafe and had coffee. Back in the day, I furnished my apartment from a place called This End Up. No assembly required!! It was wooded furniture, a fun concept. This furniture would be good in a guest bedroom or for little kids because of the very cheap price. I have to read other reviews, is Ikea known for missing parts?
