I love that we have an IKEA near us now. It's so fun to walk around and get ideas for my house. I also love that they have so much organizational items/ideas for every aspect of your life. The store is massive and very orderly. There are plenty of people around to ask questions if you need help. Many of the items are self-serve and you'll have to pick them up from a larger storage area near the front of the store where you check out. Only thing I dislike is having to put everything together with a tiny wrench. However, if you're willing to pay them money they will assemble items for you but it's a bit expensive. It's hard to walk in there and not purchase something. I'm very happy there now in Wisconsin! Don't be overwhelmed if you've never gone definitely give them a try. read more

I found the experience an awful episode I have no desire to repeat. I have to say the layout of this store reminded me of a casino in Las Vegas. Impossible to find the exit. We asked an employee named "Tammy" who was annoyed we interrupted whatever she was doing. (07/16/2024) She managed to redirect us to our original starting point. We were still lost and could not find the way out. We actually had to ask her a second time how to leave the store. She acted like we were numbskulls. She told us the exit signs were only for emergency exits. I felt totally dismissed. I will never return to this Ikea. I love the one in Illinois. One star is an over estimate. It just takes too long to get to what you want to get and get out. Other than that I enjoy their food. Kurt there is always something for vegans. Today I tried the pea protein plant based balls... they only had meal options so it came with Broccoli, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. I ate the broccoli and the balls and it was delicious! Today I came to only get curtain rods and sheer curtains and it took about 20 minutes to even get to that section because I walked the entire maze and I didn't know of any shortcuts, plus folks in front of you always walk slow in IKEA. The bathrooms here needs work! Only one faucet worked, so it was like a line to the sink ! But it seems all IKEA bathrooms look the same everywhere and it isn't a high quality bathroom, if you can wait I would say skip their bathrooms all together! read more

Ikea and Scandinavian design isn't for everyone. I got my first taste of Ikea back in the late 90's when my sister moved to Germany and that's the only place she shopped for home items. Then the Rosemount store in Illinois opened. Now a smaller store in MKE! So, they specialize in affordable, well engineered designed home products for the European market which have smaller homes/apartments than us Americans. Their design gives you functionality and durability in an affordable price range that you can transport yourself (roof top, pass through back seat or truck) and assemble in a reasonable amount of time with manuals written for anyone to understand (all pictures). Affordable does not mean cheap... high quality and well designed. I've yet to have anything break in a move. I've purchased other bookshelves, other desks and other chairs, etc and those are no longer around. I've had my first Poang Chairs for like 18 years and absolutely nothing wrong with them. I've gone through couches from Steinhaffels and look back at my leather couch from Ikea that is the basement rec room and wonder why did I replace that? Again, the store isn't for everyone, but for a college bound, college graduate, young couple or yes a divorcee that is starting over, you can't beat this option for furniture, cookware, dishes, glasses, room decor, lighting and more. If you are a fan of Sonos speaker system, I just found out they have a line of speakers at Ikea. I have Ikea items in just about every room in my house now... kid's bedroom, my bedroom, kitchen, great room, den, basement... I am a fan. read more

I was so happy when they opened the store in Wisconsin! Visiting the store is definitely a workout. I spent 1 hour - 2 hours walking around the store And getting ideas from their showrooms. Ikea offers great and creative products that address different needs and more important: is so affordable! Everything from bedsheets to wine racks, picture frames, food! Everything you need to give a quick twist to your house decoration. Some people say it is not the best quality, but in my experience, everything I've purchased serves its purpose as expected. read more

I've always loved IKEA. I still do. I probably always will. One of the things that makes IKEA so special is that they still have a cafeteria. This makes it great to take a break from looking at all the cool stuff. The IKEA just outside of Milwaukee has pretty much the standard IKEA foods Swedish meatballs, salmon, salads, and unusual desserts. I had the classic Swedish meatballs. My wife had a shrimp sandwich, which was served open face on a flatbread. She also had an apple cake for dessert. We both split a bowl of sweet potato chili with black beans. I can't think of to complain about the food, it was just what I expected. As a comment but not a complaint I would've liked the meatballs to be just a little warmer. It would've been nice if they had had a few more people working the line. As it was it took longer then it should have. Overall a nice place to sit down and have a meal. read more

Thank Goodness this place opened up, saves me a day trip from going to Chicago just to buy stuff. Though like with most chains, there are time to time they don't have the item i want, so if i really want it I'm still forced to go down to Chicago Ikea just to get it. But I don't mind too much cause like i said I usually turn it into a nice day trip to make it worth my time and money. With that said, this is a nice Ikea, staff at the food court and the cash registers were quite nice and friendly. Staff on the showroom floor and warehouse are a hit or miss. For the most part I've ran into nothing but friendly staff who were more than helpful with helping me out or letting me know where i can find some small items are. Place can be a bit dusty from time to time so watch out for that. Their little restaurant is halfway from when you enter and go through the showroom to the warehouse. Its nice, big, and spacious. really love the big windows, bring in lots of natural light. much better than the ikea dining hall in Schaumburg, IL. read more

Ikea offers a different sort of retail experience. Instead of aisles of goodness, grid-style, you sort of meander, showroom flanked throughout the space with illuminated arrows to keep you on the right path. Some of the showroom's actually give you the total price of recreating the entire room. Which is, you know...cool. They definitely have some fun stuff. I'm currently writing this with a portable laptop pillow desk I purchased on my trip here. I guess, for me, I always sort of feel like Alice lost in Wonderland in Ikea. Where's the entrance? Where's the exit? Where am I?!?! Plus, the furniture style is all Scandinavian, which I appreciate fully in the houses of friends, but isn't my favorite for my own home. However, their prices are incredible and, in addition to furniture, they have some fun gadgets. Like wireless chargers for you cell phone. My son wanted to purchase one while we were here. What type garbage delivery service you have! Delivery period was from 8am to 3pm, they showed up at 4! Also they weren't even IKEA employees but some third party company which has no idea how to build the units. After four hours they gave up and left the unit not finished. In addition the unit was physically damaged and scratched. This is ridiculous! I paid over $500 for a damaged incomplete product! You guys push professional assembly yet never mentioned that it wasn't done by actual trained ikea employees. The people that came were nice but have no experience with your products. I've been to multiple ikeas in several midwestern states. The most I can say for this one is that it has IKEA products and the Swedish meatballs. Beyond that it is a total letdown. The entry way of the store funnels you through a series of hallways between little rooms styled to look like some stereotypical design theme. It's also really bloody dark so when you come in from outside it's easy to run into people. The store has a flubbed-up layout that can only make sense when you see the whole floor plan in an architectural map, I think. I'm guessing because I don't know what it looks like from above because some a-hole thought it was a good idea to not have a map but instead a weird line diagram (some dotted, some solid) showing...well not showing much of anything. It's a diagram of how different departments do or don't link to other ones. You have no sense of space or how far things are. I studied interior architecture, I've done store planning. My honest professional opinion is that multiple people approved a horrible design and they should be shamed and made to be docents to guide people around the store. The "wayfinding" team with the ridiculous linear map should all be embarrassed. Let's face it. Ikea used to have multiple options for super cheap but kinda chic stuff. Now there is one cheap option and many overpriced options. BOOOOOOO! The prices on many things are straight up absurd. Oh, want a bath mat? They've got one for three dollars, but they are so impressively tiny and thin that you can use them as placemats. Did I mention that ikea has some pricey woven carpets? Yeah, no one cares. Since when is the Poang chair with a cushion a 100$ item? Ikea used to have an awesome lightbulb. When I couldn't find it I looked for any associate for a long time. When I found him (tall thin, not a looker) I asked for help. Did he say"oh I'm sorry no one is in here to ask, let me help? Nope We went around the lighting area, and through two other departments before he found someone in kitchens. (I realized this first guy was dressed differently so he was probably a manager of some sort) I asked them for help and his answer was a huff and "I don't know." I asked who does know. Ultimately I was so appalled by the "service" that I ditched my cart of about 500$ of merchandise and left. Hope there is never a blackout or a fire. It's a hot mess of a floor plan. Remember how the Apple store used to have great staff that helped you? Now they have a system for catching and assigning people to assign people to eventually help you? That's what this store was like. Systems that should work but fail miserably. Another time I was in here I tried to ask if certain beds were for sure latex free because I'm super allergic. The guy (nearly bald, short, middle aged, scruffy with glasses) was a jerk and refused to answer my actual question, "they are foam or foam hybrid" is not an answer to my question. I went to ikea again today and the same guy was in the bed area. So out of spite I'm ordering one from amazon. Want a super long line with inadequate air conditioning?! You are in luck! I was beyond thrilled to hear an Ikea was opening in the Milwaukee area so my first visit was over Memorial Day weekend and that in itself was a mistake because everyone else had the same idea. I usually get stuck in Ikea browsing and needing every little thing but because it was so packed, it took an hour just to get through the store for the one thing I went for. It seemed smaller than the one in Schaumburg but I didn't have much time to look around. So, when I received my birthday coupons for a free meal (including cake) and $15 to spend on whatever my heart desired, I went back with the same excitement because it was only 12 minutes away now! While the one in Oak Creek is only one level, I couldn't tell you if there were things in Schaumburg that weren't here. I love the design center here and don't remember that in Illinois so that says something about how I shop in an Ikea. I was happy to see the couple things I admired from afar were in-stock today (there were none to be found over Memorial Day weekend) and decided the heart pillows and rug were exactly the perfect things to use my $15 on! The Swedish Meatball meal was pretty fantastic! I hadn't purchased a meal in the cafe before so the staff was kind enough to point me in the direction of the cake as well as make sure I grabbed a glass for a beverage (yay, pear seltzer water!!!). I was too full after the meal to eat the cake at Ikea but OMG, when I got home... it was the best freaking chocolately cake I've ever had! I could easily see myself eating that cake every day for the rest of my life!!! The high quality and low prices of Ikea products keep bringing me back for whenever I need anything (and every time I'm here I think I need to do my entire house with Ikea because I love ALL of the things!). Checkout was quick and zero issues using my awesome coupons (it's always a fear of mine that employees won't know how to use them or they just don't work). The store itself was clean with staff pretty much everywhere cleaning up or stocking shelves. There were a couple areas I noticed were empty of inventory so I'd guess new or seasonal items will be filling those areas soon. Who doesn't want to know how it feels to live in a bunch of different places at once? That's why I love Ikea and the way their rooms are set up. I like to picture myself in different places and dream about kitchens or home offices I might have one day (ha!). I really struggle with something called interior design, so Ikea helps formulate the ideas for me, while getting all up close and personal. Overall, I was really impressed with the store. I have only been to the Ikea in Schaumburg, IL before and I really enjoyed this one. There's only one floor at the Oak Creek location and that's perfect. There's still an ample amount of things to get lost in, but not to a point to where one feels overwhelmed. The prices are great and things are fairly cheap. I suggest friends and family who are looking for furniture, redoing a kitchen or random knickknacks (faux plants, shelves, shelve stuff) to venture there and buy them on the cheap. Of course, the downsize is you have to put together the furniture -- HOWEVER Ikea does offer assembly and delivery. Probably for even cheaper now since they're in our backyard. Didn't try the meatballs though, so I can't comment on their food. But they do have this grocery food section that I might go back for (no assembly required, but cooking is for some). They sell organic, fair trade ground coffee and espresso packs for $4.50. Not bad! read more

Attention Milwaukee Shoppers...Ikea has landed off Drexel Avenue and in this shopper's opinion the hype is justified! I shyly admit that indeed, I was an Ikea virgin before this maiden voyage. Opened just days before the giant Memorial Day retail sales period, the store was well stocked and staffed. It was a pleasure to navigate. How fun to see the showrooms, where the retail cost for every piece was listed on the wall. We were treated to views of form rooms that were outfitted completely for less than $800. Holy wow Batdad! There was an organization and flow that was fun to experience. It thoughtfully led us through groupings of furniture, bedding, office, kitchens, pantry, cooking, and other fun. My friend told the tale of shopping in New York for the above the counter organization system with a friend who was obsessed on outfitting her kitchen. I loved looking at bookshelves and nightstands for unnder $100. I don't do well at assembly, but a girl can dream. The kitchen stuff was so fun. I like to make myself mocktails, so I found myself obsessed with a carafe for $3. I accompanied them with 4 lemonade glasses. All set me back $13. Bonus! We enjoyed looking at the children's play sets and even the pet supplies were fun. For those obsessed, yes, Ikea sells Swedish meatballs so you can take them home and recreate the taste. There's all kinds of fun to find at Ikea, and when you find the piece of your dreams, the friendly knowledgeable staff are ready to help you get it out to your car so you can enjoy assembling it. We were hesitant to visit the new location so soon after opening day, however we were pleasantly surprised. We expected the store to be insanely crowded and chaotic, but it was a wonderful experience. IKEA has done a nice job of arranging the entrance and parking so traffic was not congested, and although the store was plenty full of customers, this was not an issue. The staff is well-trained, friendly, and helpful. The store layout is nice, with plenty of great ideas on display in the showroom area. Although this IKEA location is only one floor and seems slightly smaller than the Schaumburg and Bolingbrook locations in Illinois, nothing is lacking. Selection, quality, and prices are excellent as you would expect at any other IKEA store. So excited to have IKEA in Milwaukee, and looking forward to our next visit! read more

I have been to the IKEA near Chicago and hence was excited to check this one out as well. We came here on a Sunday evening and I was glad to see that it wasn't overcrowded. When we entered there was a lady standing handing out shopping bags if u don't have a cart which was helpful. You can also pick up a pencil and paper pamphlet and write down the items you are interested in. The layout at Ikea was interesting because they displayed their decor as a part of a room.. in other words, there were several different rooms designed uniquely with different styles and Ikea products. This was very refreshing to look at. Almost all items had the item code and others had the aisle and Bin number for you to easily track it later when picking it up. They also had multiple monitors near the warehouse wherein you could look up your item once again. This was extremely helpful. They also have a huge parking lot with special car spots for family with small kids... which makes is very convenient for families with babies to get a close enough spot to the store. IKEA has intensive product lines for Home and i only covered few sections in a matter of an hour. am definitely coming back here for more. read more

I went and got a chair. Went home it was missing a part so we couldn't use it waited over a month for my other chairs to come in. Went today to return them as I already found another table set. I go in and the woman at the returns sees me walking over; there is no line. I'm practically to the register when another woman who works there hands another lady for her to help. She tells me to wait in line shrugging me off; never telling me to sign in. After helping the lady for 5 mins she says did you sign in with a attitude I told her no she said well you have to sign in. I said you helped someone when I was next and never even told me to sign in just told me to wait. She said well you should've read the sign to sign in. I told her she could've told me to sign in when I was next from the beginning. Clearly I was next and you tell me to wait when I'm next for no apparent reason because someone else is more important because she knows someone there but you can't be civil enough to tell me to sign in until over 5+ customers are behind me. Sheryl work on a little customer service I left irritated and frustrated I wish I could return it through mail instead of deal with customer service reps who want to be rude and help their friends first then get a attitude because they can't even do their jobs without being helpful. I forgot to bring my receipt with to exchange a piece of furniture and the lady at returns must have thought I was the worst person in the world. I was in there a week ago so I assumed it wasn't that hard to dig up the order. She audibly scoffed when I told her I didn't have it. Made up some bs reason saying "they are really cracking down on security and you can't keep coming in without a receipt because it takes too long". Uhh, I've literally never returned anything to Ikea, lady! I just need a different sized cabinet, which is more expensive so you should be happy! She almost told me I had to leave because she couldn't find my order. I used Apple Pay from my watch and the idiot said "that's why I can't find the order. You can't use your watch and expect a return". What the hell?? Her boss was right next to her, hearing everything she was saying. I love to look at their displays. They have a cafeteria if you get hungry the place looks clean. Get your walking shoes on cause everything is spread out. The products are great! The employees are not. 1st time at this location and asked for help and was told "I'm busy, go away." She was talking to a coworker while on her phone. 2nd time bathrooms were so dirty I left and went to a gas station. 3rd time the item we bought was missing parts and when we called they argued with us that we were not missing parts. After 20 minutes they agreed to send parts. One week later I had to call agin about the parts and they said "you'll have to return the item and get a new one, if you don't have the orginalbox we have to charge you 20%." The price was definitely right, but the layout is super confusing to someone who has never shopped here before. It's definitely a unique shopping experience, but I genuinely wish the staff had been more friendly and helpful instead of saying "follow the arrows" and pointing when I had a question. I could find things better using my phone and wandering around for hours until I could find what I needed. Important things to know: -carts aren't available until you get through the showroom section (the first section) and reach the cafeteria. -If you're picking out furniture pieces, you take photos of the tags you need in the showroom, and pick it up at the end right before checkout. - use your phone to your advantage, find items you like in the showroom online and it'll tell you exactly where it is and how many are left in inventory. read more

I do not understand all the three star reviews that use the expression, "meh." That is quite literally the definition of a two star review. Also these reviews really should compare fairly, with parallel or similar businesses, within a genre or category and I think that means comparing IKEA to other discount furniture and home goods stores. Using the original meaning of the now overused phrase applied to IKEA, it is what it is. Meaning it doesn't clearly fit into a common category, it's rather unique. It's low cost self-serve Scandinavian-modern minimalist design furnishing requiring assembly so it's great for people on that sort of budget. When I was younger and a renter IKEA in Schaumburg near Chicago was the only way to get affordable furnishings that looked nice. Also when I was younger it was easier to put this furniture together, or maybe I just had more incentive to. If I remember correctly it was often fun. I'm at a different stage of life now and there's less here that suits my style but this is still a fun place to visit. It's not set up for a quick run through, it's a maze that requires a lot of shopping and a good sense of direction. If you're in here for a quick trip you'll be frustrated, don't come here with that attitude. Instead, come here to have an adventure exploring the place. Note the names of the furniture, many of the names sound a lot like pharmaceutical products. I come here for the cafeteria. There is some seriously good food here, though none of the workers seem to know anything about the 1 Euro breakfast deal. In fact, none of the workers seem to know what a Euro is. In fact, I'm not sure that they're all aware IKEA comes from Sweden but this might just be the younger workers. Well the moral of that part of this story is that the main IKEA website isn't necessarily helpful for specials in Oak Creek, and the workers don't know much about the company but like I said this is a place to come and enjoy some time spent with a sense of whimsy and humor. If I had a nephew or niece who went to a good college I would have spent more money here but alas, they were all such disappointments in the higher education achievement category. read more

Absolute insanity. They will not accept my Ikea family credit card they recently issued me, saying the number is invalid. They tell me my home address is invalid. My first time in an IKEA store. Didn't know what to expect, but we soon found that there was more to the store than just Swedish furniture. There are many household items, linens, gadgets, and a wide array Swedish sundries and food items. I highly recommend stopping at their café and trying their world famous Swedish meatballs. You can get a sample serving for only $1. What a deal! Everything is very reasonably priced and there is plenty of parking. Open until 9 PM every day but Sunday until 8 PM. read more

The line problems I cited in my last review have been solved! One line leads to all the open registers, which is MUCH quicker and efficient.
