I had a project in mind to do at my apartment. I didn't have time to go the IKEA location near me, so while out to travel for the holiday weekend, I decided I would kill two birds with one stone. After finishing up with what I was doing in the area and on my way home I would run in here and grab what I needed. I parked near the exit and took the long walk to the entrance. That way when I was done inside I would be able to make the walk to my vehicle quicker. Once inside, I took the shortest route I could to the sections I needed. Which is never easy in an IKEA. I headed towards the lighting section to pick up what I needed and then browsed for shades. Found one that I liked and started to head towards the exit...or at least what I thought was the exit. Out of the maze, and paid, I was out the store. Parking near the exit was greatly needed as I was already tired of the heat. read more

My daughter requested a visit here, so here we are. 2.5 hours later (I feel like Sponge Bob - lol!) we finally checked out. I think we perused eeeeevery single section / aisle!!!!!! We got what we came for - peg boards and shelving. Of course we bought other stuff too! Measuring cups, vases, containers, a throw blanket ... A shout out to Peggy, who actually helped instead of telling like the other employee - he should keep in mind that this store is huge and extra!!! With IKEA I'm just not ready to come out of the closet. For organization concepts behind closed doors I am more than willing to accept the day-long frustration of trying to piece these particle board wonders together with the provided Allen wrench but for more visible pieces like a basement bedroom set, the construction shortcuts/flaws are far more noticeable. Shame on me for being cheap and relying on a mattress named after a Swedish poet when it should have been named after a Swedish prison. I'll drink from their cheapo glassware all day long but I shudder to think of the consequences of committing a felony anywhere near Stockholm. Three DIY stars. read more

The prices are very good for the items, though I know they can tend to be a bit lower in quality. I also ate lunch in the cafe and had the plant balls, which were tasty but the vegetables it came with were super bland. You know I came here for their reasonably easy to put together furniture and got lost in the well known Ikea Maze. They have a great system for food and the sustainability of TooGoodToGo fits in well with Ikea as a European store particularly. It is a surprise they didn't start TooGoodToGo years ago because it's a win-win. Save food from being thrown away- better for the environment, save a little off of trash fees without knowing it. And the store makes a bit of money too. Customer gets a good deal as they are not allowed to be picky about food needs with the app- so no issues there. Can't leave Ikea without a Princess cake and Nordic salmon that I have not seen at Lidl anymore, lol. Staff is reasonably friendly here. read more

Visited yesterday to pick up one shoe rack and work a bit from the cafe. But this review sums up a cumulative experience of coming here on and off over the past few years. Service: hit or miss in my experience. Some folks are Philly nice, but some are outright unfriendly. I recall some folks who were not very helpful when I was attempting to pick up some Click and Collect purchases and I ended up having to wait 20-30 minutes just to pick up for reasons I still don't know. But generally you will get prompt and helpful service. Selection: biggest knock for me. This site in particular it seems has struggled with stock where the Consho location has not. Some common items like Kallax'es or bedframes have been out of stock here when I've been looking for them. Value: regardless, IKEA quality is solid. Never had an issues with furniture I've purchased here, and they have great return and replacement parts policies. I also enjoy working at their upstairs cafe with my free hot drink with my family membership, although I wish they had an outlet or two. read more

What can I say? Ikea is Ikea. Awesome price on home goods, decent food if you want to eat while there. Clean and tons of furniture items/products to sit on and try or overall see experience. Only con is that it can sometimes be difficult to find a worker to assist you. They're usually busy with another customer or not in the section you need. Came in just to try the plant based impossible hot dogs. At 70cents per hot dog, it's really a deal that can't be beat. It's 25cents per dog to add the red cabbage and fried onions. I didn't realize this when I ordered but it's okay. I got two plain dogs and added mustard myself. My husband got the fancy dog and a plain. The fancy dog came with some mustard that didn't taste like the regular mustard but I could be wrong. I appreciate that they had these containers that held two hot dogs. This is the perfect weekend lunch while shopping down columbus blvd. Service was so so but it's to be expected. They did a great job at preparing our hot dogs and that's what counts. Giving IKEA their flowers! I've patronized IKEAs for years and recently when I realized I needed another bookshelf for the basement. The current bookshelf I have, has been with me for over 10 years through multiple moves, so I figured why not just get the same bookshelf again from IKEA. I ordered the bookshelf online for store pickup. Received my confirmation for pick up quickly, pulled up to the curbside pickup on a Friday afternoon, confirmed my arrival and they were out within a minute or so (apparently I was first in line for pickup). They offered to load and off we went. Putting up the bookshelf was much easier this time than I remembered years ago but maybe because the instructions required 2 people whereas the first time I put it up myself (shrug). Only concern is that the anchors provided do not work if you have baseboards. Thankfully I have additional anchor straps to install, since I have a toddler who loves to climb! read more

I needed to start a return of an item I purchased 2 days ago. It's been awhile since my last return with them. So once I walked into the return/exchange section of the store, I noticed they have 3 of these kiosk machines. I went over to sign in and key in my info. It simply was asking for name and phone number. I thought maybe they changed their procedure to enhance the flow. After I sign in and register my info to their system, apparently I still have to wait in the same line order. There were 2 customers ahead of me and only 1 counter was open. I thought it would speed things up, but it doesn't seem like it. I did get a text message to start the return process. I follow along on the site and submitted all the info, including which purchase order, what item it is, and what is the reason for the return. By the time it was my turn, the associate still has to scan my receipt and ask me what is the reason for the return. I just didn't see the need of that kiosk machine or what's the purpose behind. Another customer simply walked right behind me without signing in. Then follow by another customer who signed in. After I'm done, the one who signed in still have to wait for the one that simply walked right into the line. So tbh, it definitely waste of time signing in when customer could have just walked right in line. Just my experience and thought. read more

Nothing is stocked, twice today I was in sections that looked like they were being stocked and someone just walked away from the project. While people might not like shopping and buying stuff from IKEA, I am in love with their food market. Where else can one get cheap Swedish food that is moderately healthy?! I got the side salad which was pretty ok. I also got the Stockholm salad which had a side of potatoes with a salad that contained marinated salmon. I wish there were bigger portions for the salmon but overall, the dill taste really helped this dish come to life. Remember that if you show your family and friends card you get free coffee. This was the easiest time I've ever had at IKEA . I grab my stuff I looked up on the app then checked out. I got to my car all within 25 minutes. Then I noticed a tear in the box and broken shelving. I had to bring it back to returns and exchanges. My bad I didn't notice it at first, but in my defense this was one of two boxes and I had to separate them to got them in car. They told me 20 minutes. I said I'll just go grab it and you can process it. No need to get anyone else involved. Nope only option 20 min. So I gab lunch and was back in 25 min. Sorry another 10 min. Ok ended up being 40 minutes in total. Took 15 min more for them to replace the box (I could have done in 5 min). read more

Kitchen redesign disaster My wife and I had a new kitchen designed with South Philly IKEA staff (sort of), and assembled by Traemand. After several months of waiting for parts to become available and crossing state lines to complete our collection, we finally were able to schedule Traemand a return visit to assemble stuff. But when they came back for that they said they couldn't do the job because one of our walls was concrete, and they can't hang cabinets on concrete. This was several months into this project (and after Traemand had come out to measure and demo our existing cabinets). The Traemand person instructed us to get a 3rd party contractor to have a wood wall put up on top of the concrete wall to be able to hang the cabinets. He even had a name and number for us to call as "someone who does this thing all the time". We went with their suggestion, and over the next few weeks were able to get a wall put up on the concrete wall so Traemand could continue with the install. Amazingly this was done by applying Liquid Nails to huge sheets of OSB, essentially gluing the boards to the wall. Later we had another install date with Traemand (with yet a different crew of 2) who took two days to put together the cabinets. There were a few things that didn't fit perfect and one case of a washable panel that was put on backwards. They were eager to be done and leave. After nearly 4 months without a working kitchen or dining room we were also eager to be moving towards functional kitchen space again, so we fixed the minor fittings ourselves. We got new countertops and had new tiles put on top of the ugly OSB boards, and we were closer to a pretty nice looking kitchen (see first image). The project was about 2.5x more expensive than we had anticipated, but it looked pretty nice. About 8 months after the cabinets were assembled, one of the OSB walls came off the concrete, along with a large section of cabinets and all of our plates and dishes. Fortunately no one in the kitchen at the time, because they could have been severely injured (or killed!). We were left with heavy hearts with our now half-destroyed kitchen. Our insurance covered nothing, and IKEA "reviewed our case" and took no responsibility. Traemand is also unreachable, as it looks like the people working on our project was possibly subcontracted out to do the work. Ultimately the person responsible for the OSB walls is now out of state and a lawsuit would likely end up costing us more than we'd get back. We're now looking at at least $3000 to fix this mess, retile and take precautionary reinforcement measures on the other hanging cabinets installed. AND we'll have to spend another $1000 at IKEA too, to replace all of our broken cabinets. It is an extremely frustrating situation. I would advise those looking to use the cheap kitchen services at IKEA to at LEAST use a reputable contractor in tandem, and NOT Traemand, the contractor that IKEA works with. read more

As much as I can't stand getting consumed by ikea, I have to say this is probably the best location I've been to. That being said, I've been to Locations in Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Long Island and Paramus. The few things I found special about this particular location is there was excessive staff waiting to assist, which we did not need and considering we were there on a Saturday it wasn't crazy busy. This location has plenty of parking, though the Chick-Fil-A at the entrance can make it hard to enter/leave. (I don't get it.) There are EV charging stations if you need that; sometimes I do. I've had to make returns a few times, and this location is markedly better than others. There's a check-in process where you can get browse the store and get a text when it's your turn (though last time they ignored that list and first helped people who got in line while I was checking in at the kiosk). I've never had to wait too long. Plus, $1 froyo at the end of the maze of showrooms! read more

The cafe is on the 2nd floor. It's a great place to get a snack or a meal. Try the Swedish meatball meal. There's also a small snack stand downstairs. The ice cream cone for 99cents is my fave! The marketplace is fun to explore. There's lots of different gadgets, frames and other fun buys as well as staples. There's an As Is room near the check outs that's worth a look. Staff is available to help plan kitchens, offices and closets. The IKEA family club offers discounts plus free coffee/tea each time you visit! read more

For me, arduous, stressful Ikea trips are made tolerable by looking forward to these meatballs and ice cream. PRO TIP: The cafe in this Ikea actually offers the best view of the SS United States docked (and falling apart) across the highway. The view is truly stunning and totally unexpected. We got a triple order of meatballs, a Caesar salad, Mac n cheese, and some drinks. Nothing was amazing but, just like their furniture, Ikea's food is very affordable. I grabbed some meatballs to make at home and we got ice cream to ease the pain of trying to cram all of our furniture into my car. If you've never eaten at an Ikea, try it - just once. PANDEMIC SHOPPING. I've been an Ikea fan since forever. Coming back for the first time in a year was an eye-opener. Things are scaled down, displays feel a little more spread out. Every register and computer station has a plastic barrier. It feels otherworldly. The main restaurant is closed down, but the bistro on the first floor offers a scaled down menu to go. The meatballs and mashed potatoes was a small serving and was not really that hot. We shared a salmon sandwich, and the amount of salmon on it was barely discernible. Finally, overall the customer service felt really depressing. Everyone looked really tired and grumpy, and this was at opening on a mid-week day. We asked where we could find one item, and when we finally tracked down an employee for assistance, she snapped, "If it's not there, then we must be sold out of it." OK, dear. read more

I've been told for years to visit Ikea, for the meatballs and home items. Finally I've had the chance to try out the Swedish entrees and peruse the options. I got the classic meatball entree, which has veggies, jam, and potatoes that come with it. There is so much seating, and it's cafeteria style, self serve just like the rest of the store! I like that mentality, just DIY and figure it out as you go. Meatballs are hot, and I wasn't sold on the jam until I tried it and loved it!! Just add some salt and the meatballs are tender and not overly cooked. There are some great deals, and walking through, you're left to pick out what you like and move around, no one pestering you about what you need help with or what you're looking for. Their marketing is in there set up: The longer that people feel comfortable in the store and curious about their furniture and goods, the more time they have to talk themselves into bringing it home with them.
