IKEA Restaurant is an iconic spot to stop at while shopping at IKEA. The restaurant is known for their Swedish-inspired food (specifically their meatballs) and is essentially a food court with plenty of seating. I think that the service is alright and I would recommend coming here earlier in the day as some food is not available later in the evening. Whenever I come here, my go-to order is the Swedish Meatballs, French Fries, and Mashed Potatoes with Gravy. The Swedish Meatballs are extremely delicious! Meanwhile, the French Fries have the right amount of crisp and potato inside and the Mashed Potatoes with Gravy taste great. We only get to Ikea a few times a year and we enjoy going to the restaurant. It's a cafeteria complete with getting your tray and silverware and letting young ladies i hair nets make you a plate. We always get the meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy and peas. Don't forget the lingonberry sauce ! This time we enjoyed a side of cold shrimp in dill sour cream and side greek salad. Each time I visit this restaurant, I notice a couple of homeless individuals at nearby tables. I usually come here with my children, and it's not always clear if tables are thoroughly cleaned between guests, as we often end up wiping them down ourselves. Given these experiences, I'm not sure it's the best option for dining--at least here in Atlanta. When I needed to feed my 6-month-old son, I was able to warm his bottle in the microwave, which was very convenient. I then went to the mother-and-baby room to feed him, but it was the dirtiest one I've ever seen at IKEA, despite visiting around five stores worldwide. It seemed as though it hadn't been cleaned for weeks, and there was no cleaning schedule posted on the door. It's disappointing, especially since this room is for the youngest customers. The IKEA food court is always a place you want to stop by whenever you're at IKEA buying/shopping for furniture. It's something that you never really crave but enjoy whenever you have it. Moving back to ATL -- I needed to do some furniture shopping and we stopped by the food court to grab some food. I went on Memorial Day and the place was pretty busy, and the food court had a line. Nevertheless, it didn't take too long. I got the meatball combo with corn & mashed potatoes and I also got a size of mac&cheese (only $1.99)! My friend also got some chocolate cake that I do not remember the name of. The meatballs are always solid. It's a nice flavor that you can never go wrong with, and it's not too heavy either. The mashed potatoes were also pretty good, though I wasn't the biggest fan of the corn/veggies. Also -- make sure to get the lingonberry jam where the condiments are. Absolutely fire. Prices at the food court are also affordable which makes it appealing. There is nothing really extraordinarily special about the IKEA food court but you'll never leave dissastisfied and I think that's the true charm. Had a Swedish salad with raw salmon on a bead of greens and potato salad with amazing salad dressing. This salad bowl was so fresh and light. It succeeded my expectations. For a drink we had a can of pear juice and for a dessert slice of chocolate cake and yellow princess cake. We have not been to IKEA for lunch in eight months but this again was worth the trip. First off I feel like there needs to be more than one Ikea on the state of Georgia which would probably resolve my main issue. This location is often out of stock if many items. I'm pretty sure it's because it is servicing all of Georgia. Other than that, the process are great and the quality is what you'd expect from IKEA which is usually better than I expect. The other issue is that they do not deliver outside the Atlanta metro area. I'm sure there's a business reason that I'm not privy to but driving from middle Georgia to downtown Atlanta to go to IKEA hardly worth it considering the stocking issue. We ate lunch on this last visit and both had meatballs. It wasn't that good and was expensive for just a cafeteria. The meatballs were bland compared to what I remember. Don't get me wrong, I love other IKEAs. I'm just not crazy about this one because it's more hassle than it's worth if you don't live in Atlanta. So I give it a meh. This is my third time eating here so take caution. Location near Atlantic station. Good parking, just be cautious of the cars. Folks are serious about those Swedish meatballs, and the madness sometimes starts in the parking lot. My goal was to drop the kiddies in the play area and enjoy my first real meal of the day. Get to the line only to hear the vegetable rolls will be 15 min. Yikes. Well I'm hungry and the lady was pleasant. I wait only to hear their running out of more things. The prices are still great. And the food is surprisingly good for a furniture store cafeteria. We both had soup (some sort of terrific pea soup; it had a fancier name). She had spinach salad; I had beets. Both were excellent. And we had gravlaks -- don't miss the gravlaks. Missed the dill/mustard sauce the gravlaks used to come with and the crisp Wäsa bread (knækbrød) that was alway got the best supporting actor award at the IKEA cafe. Too bad; they were part of the experience and the dill/mustard is an essential part of gravlaks. Like mustard on a hotdog or guacamole with tortilla chips. My biggest issue with IKEA Restaurant is that they do not sell any healthy food options for children. I came here Saturday with my son for dinner as we stopped by the store and they supposedly sell grilled chicken with vegetables for dinner, but I was told they do not sell it on the weekend, only fried chicken tenders with French fries. I do like that the restaurant does open thirty minutes before the store opens, so you can eat at 9:30AM and start shopping at 10am to get everything done and out of the way. The IKEA Restaurant is essentially a cafeteria. Living in Atlantic Station, I've walked to IKEA many times just to eat at the restaurant or grab a frozen yogurt from the cafe/bistro downstairs. To get to the restaurant, take the entrance escalators to the 2nd floor and make a sharp right. The food is set up in a single-file, cafeteria line format. Grab a tray and go. You can pick up some of the dishes, such as cold salads, yourself. Most of the foods are served by "lunch lady" type employees. Like IKEA furniture, most of the cuisine is affordably priced. One of the well-known IKEA restaurant meals is the 99-cent breakfast. While certainly a great value, it's a small meal consisting of a plate of scrambled eggs, two strips of bacon, and breakfast potatoes. Simple and basic. One combo I like to order for lunch or dinner is the $4.99 Swedish meatball combo. You get a plate of 15 Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, lingonberry sauce, side salad, and a fountain drink. I've been able to swap different sides in place of the mashed potatoes. One of the substitute sides I like to get are the steamed vegetables. The steamed vegetables include squash, broccoli, peas, green beans, and carrots. They've got some seasoning on them so they're tasty and a healthy alternative. The meatball plate is filling. The lingonberry sauce can be eaten with both the meatballs and the mashed potatoes. The meatballs already come with plenty of gravy, which already provides lots of flavor. If you haven't noticed, IKEA loves to put lingonberry in some of its food and drink. The sauce is tart and sweet and somewhat comparable to cranberry sauce. A lingonberry beverage is available at the fountain drink machine. Another combo worth getting is the $5.99 North Atlantic Saithe combo. Saithe is the same thing as pollock, a white fish. It's herb-crusted and served with vegetables (carrots and squash) and mashed potatoes. This is a relatively light and healthy dish. If you have an IKEA Family membership card, you can save $1.00 off this combo. Sign up for an IKEA Family card. It's quick and easy to sign up and it's free. There are several computer kiosks located throughout the store where you can apply and receive a card on the spot. One of these kiosks is located just past the registers in the restaurant. In addition to discounts on food at the restaurant, you're also entitled to free coffee and tea any time you shop at IKEA. Additional foods I've tried and recommend include the mushroom crepes ($2.99 for a plate of two crepes) and the Italian wedding soup ($2.29). The crepes are fresh and savory. They work nicely as either a snack or part of a meal. The wedding soup is hot, refreshing, and comes with minced greens, meat (pieces of meatball, I think), and pasta (orzo, perhaps). Other restaurant entree examples include smoked salmon and buffalo chicken wraps. Combos are the way to go, so go that route if you can to save money on sides and drinks. A la carte sides are $2.29 a piece, which is not a good deal. Sometimes, the salads are self-serve, buffet style. Other times, the salads are prepackaged in a bowl with plastic wrap on top. Either way, freshness is not compromised. Fountain drinks, silverware, napkins, and condiments are all self-serve after check-out. After you're finished with your meal, there are wheeled carts you can place your used trays and tableware in. Don't forget about the cafe/bistro downstairs near the exit. You can get two hot dogs, a bag of chips, and a fountain drink for $2.50. The cinnamon buns are popular as is the frozen yogurt. A tray of cinnamon buns is ideal for group gatherings, potlucks, etc. One vanilla frozen yogurt in a cone is $1.00. It is delicious. Froyo is my favorite treat at the bistro. Give the take-home IKEA foods a gander on your way out. There are all sorts of boxed, canned, and frozen products such as salmon, jams, jellies, cookies, Swedish meatballs, potato pancakes, and lingonberry drinks. I've tried most of the aforementioned products over the years and they aren't bad. read more

We'd been to Sweden the week before as a couple and wanted to introduce our children to the food. Yes, I realize that a cafeteria style restaurant isn't the best representation, but when you don't want to spend a lot (picky eaters) and you want a casual atmosphere, then this fits. We arrived around 11am on a Saturday and went straight to the cafe. You grab a tray, walk past the cold items (though some of the them could be warmed, the signs implied), and then loop around to the hot items. I chose the cold salmon salad ($4.99), and then ordered a kids meal of the meatballs ($2.49). The kids' meatballs comes with 4 meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy, mixed seasonal vegetables (cauliflower, carrots, squash), and lingonberry jam. Jimmy ordered the meatballs and ribs combo (8 meatballs, 8 ribs) with a side of mashed potatoes. The salmon tasted fresh, though the greens were a little wilted. The meatballs were pretty good, and the veggies were still a bit crunchy. My 7yo ate a couple of bites where I crammed everything on (meatball, potato, veggie, jam) and liked it! The 3yo ate the meatballs and potatoes, then proceeded to run around like a Tasmanian devil, playing with the kids installations that they have for just such an occasion. You can find the Ikea Restaurant on the top floor, off to one side of the showrooms. It can be very convenient to get a snack or light lunch - anything more substantial and you'll probably want to go elsewhere. The ingredients seem for the most part frozen but of good quality. If you are part of the Ikea Family (free - sign up on the site), there's usually a weekly food special where you'll save about a dollar off one of the meals. You also get free coffee which is very welcome after walking through hours of displays and showrooms. The food as indicated isn't bad - the lines can be a bit long and the tables are often messy from previous diners. As long as you keep your expectations low (think school cafeteria) you won't mind the place. I've tried several items and think the ribs are passable, the meatballs good and the veggies bland, like they were just thawed and thrown in the microwave. Would I make a special trip here just for the food? No. Is it a wallet-friendly, no frills place to eat when you're in the area? Yes. We popped in after taking a course at Stoddard's. Skipping breakfast and spending three hours on our feet left us needing something to eat--anything. That level of desperation and the fact that we were right around the corner made IKEA the answer. The cafeteria upstairs was bright, clean and crawling with people. It reminded me of a mall food court: multiple lines, plentiful seating, grab-pay-eat and afterwards bus your own table. Their selection was a mix of salads, pastas, chicken, salmon and other cafeteria foods. Of course, being a Scandinavian store they had Swedish meatballs too. I tried a hunk of chocolate cake (here desserts are at the front of the line), grilled chicken salad, mac & cheese and pear cider. None of those things went together but I wanted to sample a variety. The chocolate cake was rich and cocoa-ey but everything else was bland. Small children and picky eaters will delight but the lack of flavor disappointed me. At least the price was right and I can say it was convenient. I doubt this will be a future destination for me but it was worth trying once. read more

I suggest eating at the food stand at the front of the store and avoiding the cafe entirely. For 2.50 dollars they had two hot dogs and a drink in a combo. I had a vegan hotdog which was very good for what it was and only 67 cents. They also had pizza at the little food stand at the front of the store. If you want value at the food cafe, order the salmon. The Swedish meatballs tasted like military MREs and really should be two or three dollars, and not 6 dollars before taxes. I have friends who literally go on dates here because the food is so good and cheap (hey, when you've been dating someone for 2 years you start looking for really cheap food places). I've only eaten here pre/post-shopping IKEA and tasted their deliciously meatballs covered in creamy gravy with a side of tart cranberry sauce and boiled potatoes ($4.99!!). Best part about it is you can buy all the food to make these dishes in the food market downstairs so next time you crave those gravy covered meatballs, just pop a few into the oven and microwave the gravy and presto! I've always wanted to come for the 99 cent small breakfast special of scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes and enjoy the morning sitting in the cafe style table and chairs watching all the shoppers fill their environmentally friendly pre-bought shopping bags full with sets of 100 tea candles for a dollar. They have a good selection of food that should make even the little ones happy. Of course I bought the Swedish meatballs for the whole family. Everyone enjoyed them. My family had never had them before. I went to a boarding school for high school and one of our cooks was Swedish. Hers had far more flavor and were served on fettuccine type noodles. [Time & Date of visit]: Various weekday dinners and weekend lunch / dinners. [Party Size]: 1-4 [Location/Ambiance]: Located right near the entrance of the 2nd floor after riding up the escalator. This is more of a sit down kind of food vs the quick, to go food and snacks on the first level. Pretty much a cafeteria with self serve stations for the soup and salad, as well as the beverages. You also bus your own table, but slide your whole tray in the located wheeled racks. [Service]: Most of the staff have been fairly polite as for serving any kind of extra condiment that comes with a meal. Also as informing when any menu option might be out or if there is a wait for any to be cooked. Other than that, it's all on you. [Food Highlights]: Swedish meatball meal - including mashed potatoes, gravy and "cranberry" though it maybe their own lingnon berry. The swedish meatballs are pretty filling, though if you are extra hungry you can pay for an additional amount of meatballs. Very well paired with the gravy. As for the mashed potatoes, they have been great for what they are except for the last visit. Usually they have a whipped like texture, though the last visit they tasted almost powdered instant kind. A little of a letdown. Potato Medallions - I always like to get this as an additional side. Almost hash brown cake like but way better. Soup & Salad bar - Most soups weren't that impressive such as the "yams" or could be an attempt at butternut squash. Tastes like baby food. Though the cheese and broccoli was ok. Also the salad bar is a meh, as it's usually sitting there all day. Dressing are located in the middle of the beverage station which includes flavors such as Ranch, Honey Mustard, and in it's own container instead of a condiment pump, is balsamic vinaigrette.
