It's absolutely shameful how IKEA has handled COVID-19. They are accepting online orders, but not delivering product. They have completely shut down all lines of communication (email, phone, social media). Which is the upsetting part. Everyone and every business is struggling during this difficult time. But they have decided to eliminate any line of communication. I drove up to IKEA in West Chester today where they couldn't even cancel my order. This is theft. Their customer service team in the exchange department has to be the front line for all of this, and their hands are tied. I felt so bad for the person helping me. He did the best he could, and called his managers several times and no one would help him. I surely hope they are being compensated appropriately because I can only image some of the people they have to deal with. At the end of the day it's just furniture but I have $1,600 I have no idea when I will ever get back. I hope they are investigated because whatever is going on isn't right. read more

But Kim what if I go on a Tuesday in a blizzard at 10:45am? Doesn't matter. Packed. But hey, it's totally worth fighting the crowds to get a $250 dresser. Or $7 end tables. Or $169 TV stand. Complete with Swedish meatballs, lingonberry juice and Swedish-inspired sweets. -I especially enjoy the model rooms with dreamy floor plans that no apartment dweller can actually get their hands on but what the hell, it's fun to imagine and make purchases as if that is your actual dwelling -budget-friendly household items ranging from duvets and lighting to fake plants and shelving units (you name it, they probably have it - - with a pretty price to boot) -this place (and all other IKEA locations for that matter) is ginormous. You'll need an hour easily even if you're "running in" for one item. IKEA always wins. read more

IKEA is like the gateway drug of home decor. It's a slippery slope of "I'm just here to buy some dishes," but you *accidentally* take the magical escalator to the showroom instead of heading straight to the Marketplace and by the time you reach checkout, you have two new light fixtures, that throw pillow you just "had to have," a bag of Swedish meatballs, a new office chair, and a partridge in a pear tree. As an IKEA rookie, I had very high expectations for my first visit. Let me tell you, it lives up to the hype. I was greeted at the door by a smiling employee who happily offered me an iconic yellow shopping tote for my purchases. After less than five minutes, I realized the magic. I could wander here forever! So many setups and decor inspiration, smartly categorized into rooms like the kitchen, office, bedroom, bathroom, etc. The clearly marked tags have the price, size dimensions, and where to find that item in the self-serve Costo-like furniture warehouse at the end of the maze. Customer service is there if you need it, but no one approaches you asking if you need help, which I personally prefer. The highlights for me are the affordability and durability of product, the unique light fixtures, the accessories (hello, lifelike faux potted plants!), and the general variety of offerings and price points. You could literally furnish an entire apartment or house just at IKEA. The only downfall for me is the key DIY element and logistics of transport and self-assembly. Can't wait for one to open closer to home in Fishers, IN in fall 2017! Follow the yellow brick road of arrows until you reach the Emerald City that is the Marketplace (and cafe, of course!). You might fall into a trance in the showrooms like Dorothy did in her poppy field, but you'll leave Oz (err, I mean IKEA) with a plethora of goodies for your space. I am from Louisville and this location of IKEA is the one we frequently visit. If you don't have an Ikea in your city, it is intriguing to make a day out of visiting. For me, if I can't spend hours looking through the showroom and Marketplace items it isn't worth visiting the store. I cannot easily return the items being so far away and like to be mindful. What I appreciate most about the store is the showroom. It's one thing to look at items in a catalog or on their website, but when you see it come to life and feel like you're stepping into someone's apartment, it really helps you to visualize what it will be in your home. I'm sure that designing a kitchen space or other major room with IKEA is a fun endeavor. While they do offer slips where you can record items that you're interested in picking up, using your cell phone is really the best way to track what you like. Look for the tag that explains which section of marketplace to find it or which aisle in the warehouse. However, when it comes to kitchen items, I did see several pieces without tags and that tells me you may need to pick those up the moment that you see them. For smaller, potty train children there is a fun play center. They cannot stay there all day but it's a nice break from boring shopping with the parents! The cafeteria is also a great spot to take another break and fill your belly. If there's something that you enjoyed, they have a freezer and refrigerated section to purchase some of their food items, plus there's another opportunity to grab a snack such as a hot dog, or cinnamon buns on your way out the door. IKEA has really thought about the customer shopping experience and has designed shopping carts for various customers. They also have built a dock area for those of us picking up larger pieces, so that you can pull your car up to the side of the building and begin packing them into the vehicle. I know several people that rent a U-Haul so they can drive away with their Ikea purchases. IKEA does not offer shopping bags, however you can purchase a large plastic bag to carry some of your pieces to the car with you. Most of the time though we are willing out our cart and packing them into the car. Before your first visit, consider creating a family IKEA account for specials. If you're planning to stay overnight, and especially if you have a family, we often visit the Drury Inn on East Sharon Road. It is only one exit away from the store and several surrounding restaurants. read more

This place is the MECCA of all thing home shopping! I mean how can you go wrong at IKea? They quite literally have everything you need, don't need, and everything you wish you didn't want! Price can be iffy depending on what the object is. You just need to decide what it is and if you can live without it -- or can you get it somewhere else cheaper. I reccommend coming on a weekday (during the day if you can). Its less crowded and you won't feel rushed or trampled over. Need a babysitter - dont worry they have a place to drop the kids off while you frolic and play all day! I also reccommend wearing comfortable shoes! This place is MASSIVE! If you want decorating ideas it is totally worth it to go through the Showroom - if you know what you want and you just want to look and shop then head on over to the Marketplace only. When your excursion is over, I'm pretty sure you'll be famished so stop and get some food and their restaurant area. You wont be dissapointed...heard the meatballs are really good. :) read more

Do not, I repeat DO NOT buy your kitchen cabinets from Ikea. The cabinets are fine quality, and a great price--but you will lose your effing mind (and lots and lots of time) trying to get the pieces you need delivered. We chose Ikea for pricing, but in hindsight I would have paid more to avoid the absolute nightmare it was dealing with their customer no-service department. And the company they work with for deliveries--Select Express--is even worse. Two stars because they are cute enough and a couple people tried to help us through this hellish experience. I've had a myriad of opportunities to visit IKEAs in the past, but had never made the plunge. Well, I finally visited an IKEA. And it was a pretty neat experience. I think the idea of the store forcing you to walk through the whole store before exiting the place is a Swedish thing? I've been to other Swedish stores and they did the same thing. Dunno. But anyhow, if you're ill-prepared to walk a lot, then IKEA isn't for you. But I certainly see the value in displaying all of your goods, and allowing the public to see everything that you are offering. And all for a decent price. You can trick out a whole bedroom for like a grand. Pretty good. It's not worth driving more than 40 minutes to go to IKEA if you're just going to look around, in my opinion. I love IKEA! And this location is great! We have tons of IKEA stuff in our house, and I think it's stylish and sturdy, while also being reasonably priced. If I'm looking for a specific item for our house I'll always check IKEA along with my other go-to's to see how it compares. This location is our go-to IKEA. We've visited several other locations as well, but for now this is the closest location to our home, so this is where we go for shopping trips. We've always had great experiences at this location. The store is clean and well organized, and it's always easy to find what we're looking for. It's easy to spend a day here, and when you do be sure to eat at the restaurant, because it's awesome! It might not be the most convenient for those of us driving an hour and a half to shop IKEA, but it's worth the trip! Wish we had one in Louisville! I bought the sit stand desk that rises in 2016. I have back issues and health issues which make it hard for me to sit for long periods. Being able to change positions is so helpful! I have loved my desk. I even got a piece of glass to cover it and keep it nice. Well recently it stopped being able to go up. It will go down but not up. I called IKEA and discovered it's a common problem and usually a new power supply to it fixes it. The desk has a great warranty. I think it's 5 years on mechanisms and maybe 10 on the top. They quickly shipped out the power supply with a new button and everything. But alas it didn't fix the problem. So we had to disassemble the desk and take it to IKEA near Cincinnati. Traffic wasn't bad. We got there and they helped us unload it, pulled up my original order number and processed the return immediately. I was issued credit and they had the same desk in stock so we got it. It was a great process. Friendly and helpful staff. And they stood by the product. Got it home and put it together and it works beautifully! I still love this desk! And I appreciate the ease with which they helped us. I am back to work! Literally! read more

IKEA is like, an adult's playground. The showroom has to scale furnished and decorated rooms to explore and get ideas from. Every time I go, I get the urge to completely redo my house and then remember I don't make enough money to do that. Dang it, IKEA! But really, can one of the decorators come bedazzle my living room with artfully placed knick-knacks? I'll pay you with pizza and an awkward hug. The map and teeny tiny pencil you snag upon entering is meant to help you narrow down your choices and write down what you like. I usually just steal the pencil because it's cute and take photos of what I like. I'm less likely to lose it that way. After spending an hour sitting on couches, petting rugs, squishing stuffed animals in the kids' section, and imagining furniture in my house - I made it to the Marketplace. Here are all the smaller items for sale. I ended up buying a new kitchen trash can (note: while easy to assemble, the lid was messed up. My boyfriend, being a saint, swapped me lids so I wouldn't punt the lid across my yard in a fit of rage). I also bought a new casserole dish, an under-the-cabinet wine rack, 4 wine glasses and 2 margarita glasses, and a shoe mat to go next to the front door. After escaping the Marketplace, I hit the overwhelming furniture section, where everything comes in a box and towers over you on floor-to-ceiling shelves. After seeing items in the showroom, I bought a new dining table. $40! C'mon, can't say no to that. One of my friends asked me how my boyfriend and I survived the trip. I was clueless to her question, but apparently going to IKEA is the ultimate test of a relationship. Considering he and I tossed a stuffed pig to each other while I yelled, 'When pigs fly!' It says "Press 1 to be texted a link to shop online, Press 2 to speak to a co-worker" (I assume they mean an in-store associate or some other actual human being), then, WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING PRESSED, it just says, "We did not recognize your selection, goodbye." No selection was made, it doesn't accept a selection and hangs up on you. This is absolutely the worst retailer I have been involved with, pandemic or not. I went there specifically to buy bookcases and bookshelves i needed that day. Half of their showroom was marked "oversold" or "unavailable". Fine, I'll deal and absorb all the excuses that are made. I found a bookshelf that had the tag "take a picture and show to associate" which I did so they could tell me where to find it. I took it to a woman and she said to go downstairs to the warehouse (no, really?) and find it in home organization. I said "ma'am, I don't know where that section is. Normally there is an aisle number, and location number, could you please just give that to me so I can find it?" She said, no she couldn't, just go look for it down there. REALLY? superb customer service Ikea, especially considering she was sitting at a desk playing on her phone. So I go downstairs and start wandering around. I can't find anything, and I can't find any workers. I roam around and finally am able to find a shelf that I could use so I picked up two and started towards the registers. That's when I saw about 30 employees walking around, horseplaying, chatting one another up, and very few seemed to be doing any work. I also notice about that same time that there are TWO cashiers and each one of them has at least 15 people in line. I stood in line for about 10-12 minutes and not one person was checked out. I put down my shelves on the ground and started heading for the door. I then saw someone near the door and I figured I would tell someone just what a poor representation of customer service and store management was going on. That person huffed and puffed and told me to call corporate. OK. I call corporate number and to talk to customer service, you jump through a series of hoops in their automated voice system until you finally get a message saying they are unavailable to take your call at this time. So I call, again and this time, I hit the button to place a new order, and wow, I actually got through to a person. So making money on new sales is ok, but screw you if you need to talk to customer service. That person also had no interest in what I was saying, and would not transfer to anyone in customer service or anywhere where I could file a complaint. He suggested ordering the product online. I explained I needed it today and that is why I went there in person. But I decided to check it out online and OF COURSE, it says "not available for delivery". Chalk another ridiculous decision by this company. This is a prime example of why box stores are being replaced by Amazon, and more power to Amazon. I found exactly what I want and will be delivered the day after ordering it. I'm pushed back in my schedule a day, but oh so worth the better experience with Amazon than dealing with that poor excuse for a company, IKEA. They need to get their act together. read more

Used to be better. But it's fine, it's good for a tight budget. Recently they switched over to 12 meatballs instead of 10 or 15, and you get a side as well as the potatoes. I don't recommend the veggies. The veggies were mostly stumps of broccoli and cauliflower and were cold. They should have been hot, we were the first people through the checkout at like 11 am so they should have been freshly cooked. The meatballs though are yummy and the star of the show anyway and its only 5.99 so you can't complain too much. For the same price they also have meatless meatballs as well as salmon ones. We asked for a couple salmon to taste, pretty yummy. Other stuff we've had was good, and as I understand it (at least as of a couple years ago) the cold sandwiches and seafood plates like the shrimp or gravlax are never more than a hour or two old, replaced constantly, so they are always fresh. But the desserts however, should not be missed. I recommend the chocolate cake, as you hot the hot counter ask the server to put some lingonberry sauce next to it for the cake... trust me. But all the desserts are great. They are worth the visit for those alone. read more

It's nice having an IKEA close by. Growing up the closest IKEA was at least an hour and a half away and going there was a huge event that usually only happened once a year. This place is perfect for picking up very reasonably priced furniture. Sometimes they have unbelievable deals. They stock so much stuff and do a pretty good job of constantly putting out new items. This location is always organized and clean. The staff is always very present and helpful. My favorite section to walk through is the lighting area. They always have a crazy and interesting array of lamps and lighting options that make you really want to figure out a way to work them into your home. Basically 75% of my furniture and household appliances have come from this IKEA so, yeah, I guess you can say that I'm a fan. read more

I'm from Louisville, KY and I drove all the way to Cincinatti to come here. I had a great experience here in IKEA. I would say for the quality, everything was reasonable. I like the minimalist style of the furnitures and most of what they sell are affordable. Loved the food from the food court as well! It was very cheap for the amount of food you get (I got the Swedish Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes and Beans, it was $5.99). If you are a plant lover like me, IKEA is the perfect place to go to. Their succulent plants with pots are about $5. I'm already planning for a second trip back here, loved this place and I'm hoping to have an IKEA in Louisville soon! read more

The only thing I can complain is the table area was a bit dirty, but I cannot blame them as it was fairly busy the day and time I went. I'm relatively certain that the word "Ikea" translated into english means "labyrinth" (It doesn't, It's actually an acronym of the founders' names)... The naming convention actually stems from the fact that the founder of the company is dyslexic and needed a code to classify the products (Who knew!?). Cincy's Ikea is impressive in size, offerings, and service. The parking lot is large and even on a busy day, you may have to fight your way through families and such, but I've always easily found parking and gotten in and out with what I was looking for (and a few things that I wasn't looking for). If this is your first Ikea experience, you should probably sell a kidney or pawn a bunch of your belongings, because you're about to purchase a lot of affordable home goods that you had no idea you even needed. They'll look trendy and unique (but will scream that you shop at Ikea). All in all, it's enjoyable to just peruse Ikea for inspiration or to let your money burn a hole in your wallet. read more

WOW! this place is huge. I can't wait for ours in Fishers to open. I've already made my wish list. Store was very well kept. Displays are very inspiring. Seemed to have lots of employees throughout the store but seriously lacked help at the check out lane. They have 29 lanes and had 3 open with absolutely huge lines of people. I also didn't like the setup at the checkout. The belts behind the cashier makes the, turn their back on the customer. To me that's sorta rude. We bought a few small things and luckily had my own bag. The worst place ever to shop. The employees were rude and when I went to check out I asked if someone could help me load the two bookcases and a tv stand into my car. The young lady at the front was like of course the people at the home delivery center will be able to do that for you. I went over to the counter and the lady looked at me and then went to the back room before I could say anything. Then she had the doors open and was talking with another lady and saw me waiting there but continued her conversation. So I waited for 30 min and no one ever came out and when she finally did she had an attitude and said that "you need to pull your car up and then I have to find some because we don't have a person to do that for you." That would have been nice if you told me that half an hour ago. Then when I pulled my car up and went back in side she was not there and I then waited for another 15 min until she finished her conversation in the back and came out and said rudely, " there are people outside to help you." Again that would have been nice to know sooner. So I brought the cart with my items outside and no one in yellow was outside. I brought the items to my car and then a IKEA working was walking by and I tried to get him to help me but he just looked at me and continued to walk away. I waited for another 15 min till I saw another IKEA worker and asked him if he could help but he said that it and I quote, "was not his job." I have never felt more poorly treated in my life ever before. I don't think I will be returning to IKEA ever again!!! I used to joke that my house was "brought to you by IKEA." Much of our livingroom furniture was IKEA. Our livingroom curtains were IKEA. All of the furniture in my children's rooms was IKEA. Kitchen island... IKEA. Our dining table... you guessed it, IKEA. The operative word in these sentences is "was." I say was, because we recently moved. Most of the pieces that were made out of particle board did not survive the move. Some of these were large armoires made of particle board, and held together with small nails. Nails IKEA provided.There are pieces of furniture that are made of sturdier materials there, at IKEA. The few pieces that we own that fell into that category, (a few bookshelves, the dining table and a kitchen island,) did survive the move. The rest did not. I would say "you get what you pay for..." but in some cases, the armoires in particular, they were only a hair less expensive than sturdier ones. We were not anticipating on replacing SO many pieces of furniture during the move. This time we are being more selective. If looking for bathroom trash cans, IKEA is great. They also have fairly good prices on home decor, and the quality is decent. None of those items have had any problems. Prices on dishes, tableware, glassware, and lighting options are very competitive. These items are generally made fairly well. Quality on kitchen gadgets is hit or miss. We have had a problem with some of the metal items rusting at the joints. I know we will still shop here from time to time. We will just be more discerning about the pieces we purchase, from this point forward. Mostly only decor type pieces. read more

My fellow Lexingtonians know nothing about IKEA, unless they've witnessed it for themselves. People can attempt to describe it all they want, but until they experience it, they have no idea. On a Sunday, before attending a Yelp event in Cincy, I drove about 30 minutes out to get to IKEA. Although it's just off of the interstate, it was not in my way or close to downtown. Don't go if you don't have comfortable shoes, and more than an hour to spare. I didn't have either. I thought that I could get through about half way and leave, but I literally couldn't find a way out, other than finish the course. It's not a normal store, with aisles, you walk through the pathway, through showrooms, kitchen examples, bedroom examples, you name and they probably have it, cheap. The lines were way too long. Even though there was a cashier and each register, I still had to wait about 20 minutes to purchase my clock and orchid. I have been left with the images of the rooms and furniture ideas, that make me want to go back for more... soon. One thing that I don't quite understand, the couches are so low to the floor. Am I the only person that thinks this place is absolute garbage? Particle board is not furniture. I get that this feeds into the disposable mentality of most Americans, but I much prefer things that are more expensive but actually last. When I did give a desk a try from here (literally just faux wood glued to composite with screws and plastic caps) the surface flaked off and looked like absolute crap. SAVE YOUR MONEY. Buy something that might actually last, and that, for the love of God, might not be the absolute cheapest thing you can find. Wonder why nothing is made in America and breaks? While doing some laundry recently, we somehow lost one of our couch pillow covers. We looked everywhere and couldn't find it, bummer. I really loved that pillow cover and it seemed weird to just have one pillow out & covered. Well, that pillow cover came from IKEA, and we just happened to be passing through Ohio the following day. We decided to add IKEA to our route. NOTE: it's a weird adjustment, having IKEA so far (this is is over an hour away from our new home). We used to live across the street from the Schaumburg, IL location --- which is the biggest in the US and pretty amazing. I sure miss our IKEA date nights of wandering and dreaming.... Anyway. Hooray for IKEA! The place to go for sleek & modern furniture, home goods, and ideas that don't break the bank. As I said before, we swung by this IKEA on our drive through Ohio to look for new pillow covers and get some more ideas for our tiny house build. Not only were we able to find the original pillow covers (so I only had to buy one to match instead of 'splurging' on two new ones), but we found plenty of ideas for our tiny home! IKEA's model 'small house' is a favorite of mine. So.... what to love about this location? Well, the fact that it's IKEA and you can find pretty much any kind of chair/table/lamp/gadget that fits your style.... at a lower price than most home goods stores. Yes, the quality can sometimes be questionable, but that's only on the really, really cheap stuff. We've never had a problem with our IKEA furniture.... most have lasted years or been given away to others (still in good shape). What I don't like about this location? It's surprisingly small-ish. And it's a MAZE! You can't escape. There's even arrows telling you where to go. I didn't see very many shortcuts to get around the lines of people pushing their carts slowly or taking their time to wander around. There were some interior traffic jams we had to navigate. I also don't like the long lines and the lack of "X items or less" aisles. Oh well. Hate it, love it, it's IKEA. But, hey! I found out that IKEA has free breakfast from 9:30-10am every day (the store opens at 10am)!! What!! Since when!? I wish I knew this before! Sweet. Outside IKEA, the parking lot is pretty good. Not too chaotic. And the area for people to load their cars is well laid-out with plenty of 'parking' spaces and a long, wide lane to drive down. Good to know since next time we'll probably be loading up our truck with tiny house IKEA goodies.....! :) read more

I've made more sojourns to this IKEA than I can recall. Like a looming blue vision, it comes into view as I drive up I-75 past Cincinnati. And I get all ant-in-pants as I get closer and ever more excited for Malms and Billys and Expedits. It's probably good that there isn't an IKEA in Louisville yet -- Who am I kidding? It would be flat-pack furniture miracle! -- because I'm a bit of an IKEA fiend. But through visiting so much, I've gleaned some tips and tricks: * Don't buy the cheapest of any product. Even if you are strapped, try and at least buy the middle-of-the-road version. I bought the cheapest couch they had at one point because I needed a couch that wasn't a loveseat but not as bit as a full sofa. And it was the epitome of uncomfortable. My boyfriend in fact could life it with one arm -- it was hollow inside and made of cheap materials. I love their other products -- but not the cheapest ones. * Give yourself time to explore. If you are like me, you traveled a bit to reach IKEA. Don't skip out on the design inspiration that is upstairs. Plus, some pieces can only be found upstairs, as opposed to in the market on the first floor. * IKEA will deliver to Louisville for a fee. Good to know if you don't drive a truck and want something big. * Don't miss the scratch-and-dent section near the checkout. You might get lucky and find something good. * The IKEA workers don't take the forklifts out when IKEA is open to customers, which means if you want a piece of furniture that is sold out on the showroom floor and is being stored up high, you are SOL. When I bought my cheap couch, they did not have any readily available, so I had to come back the next day. * They also do not put items on hold -- or at least they didn't for me. So my mom and I had to keep calling on our way up to make sure the couch was still available. Definitely a no bueno trip. * Keep your imagination open for IKEA hacks. * Give yourself a little fun money for some fun finds while you're walking through the store. You know you wanna get that Solvinden pear outdoor solar light. * Meatballs and lingonberry sauce = yummmm!!!! I also love their Swedish sodas. A friend and I had a half hour before an appointment and while we were driving past an IKEA, she confessed she had never been inside one. I pulled in and told her we would literally just "walk through." IKEA has food on both floors - a sort of "take-away" on the first floor for when you come in and when you leave, and a second floor cafe, for when you need to take a break from all that hard-core shopping. There are signs near every table explaining why "you need to clear your own table." But really, that explanation isn't that necessary. IKEA's shoppers know what is going on: inexpensive, trendy, modern home furnishings and decor, premised on the idea that people will keep coming back when the cheap stuff breaks. It's H&M before H&M knew what it was. Perfect for college students or people who want an ultra-modern decor in their home. For the rest of us, the food is great :-) read more

We were excited about our new Ikea Kitchen based on what we've read online. Do not bother trying their delivery options. My wife and I spent thousands of dollars to have our cabinets for our kitchen delivered. It has been a nightmare. The first weekend it was to be delivered we waited all Saturday and when we checked in with the delivery company they were missing boxes from Ikea so it had to be rescheduled to the following Saturday. No big deal. We wait until the following Saturday and call to get an estimate on the delivery time. Select Express & Logistics tells us 5 pm. We leave our house at 2pm to run an errand and get a phone call from the driver at 2:30pm. He is in front of our house, and because we are not there we must call Ikea to reschedule for the following weekend. We spend the afternoon on the phone with customer service but they do not come back. This will be our third Saturday in a row we have waited on our delivery. It seems Ikea uses the cheapest delivery option and has been unhelpful. If you are thinking about remodeling your kitchen you should pick up from the store or go elsewhere. read more

This review is during Covid so my visit may not be at a normal time for reviewing. Customer service-fast and friendly, took care of a return I had quickly. I had a receipt so that helps. I could see line signs where it had been long after the store reopened but I went midweek and it was slow. Dining room-closed Floors/displays-looks pretty haphhazard honestly, almost like a storm went through, items on the floor, items in wrong places, lots of missing stock. In stock items- literally 3/5 things on my list were out of stock with possible refill dates of months out, this is a covid issue for sure so not their fault, mfg all over is behind. Staff- this is where stars got knocked, staff seems frazzled and tired. This is Ikeas problem. Hire more staff, or let them have breaks or something. The staff was so sparce when I found someone they looked to be hiding from people. Cant say I blame them. Yes they have masks on but the staff morale is very very low apparently. This makes going there really unfun. TBH I wouldn't even went through the store bc of Covid but the click and pickup feature was not available. If I were the store manager, I would increase staff on the click service which would encourage more people just to pickup what they need instead of trekking through the store. Those that need to walk through would then have more space to do so. My impression of the store now from just a year ago though is it appears many things about the store is declining. I always thought they had a friendly business model with training like chick-fil-a but apparently they are more like walmart. read more

So exactly two days after I drive all the way from Indiana to visit this IKEA store for the first time, IKEA announces that they will open a store in Fishers, Indiana. What! Therefore, I feel sort of responsible for IKEA coming to the Indianapolis area, so all thank-you cards and gifts can be directed to me. Someone who had never visited IKEA asked me recently what IKEA is, and why people like it so much. I was at a loss for what to say because a) I hadn't met anyone who hadn't visited IKEA at least once, and b) how do you describe IKEA properly? Do you say it's a furniture store? A restaurant? A Swedish grocery store? A kid-friendly place to play? It's all of these and more. This IKEA is great because in the restaurant area, there is a large play area set up for children to play. There is a little kitchen with utensils and pots, blocks, a train, little cubbies to put stuff in. So if you're a parent of a toddler or young child, you can snag a table near the play area and enjoy your food while the kids play. Everyone comes out a winner here. Other than that, this IKEA has everything else all of the other IKEAs I've ever visited have: frozen yogurt cones for $1, a labyrinthine layout that can serve as a good workout once you get from start to finish, awesome room setups, and, of course, Swedish meatballs and lingonberry sauce! read more

Well-stocked, well-run IKEA, and the only one in the entire state of Ohio (I think) automatically qualifies it for 4 stars. Seasoned IKEA shoppers will know that although this is the go-to shop for affordable, good-looking furniture, not EVERYTHING at IKEA is cheaper than Target or even Bed, Bath & Beyond. For example, you can probably find an almost identical, cheaper mirror or lamp at Target (I just did). Same goes for some dining sets and chairs. So hunt around before putting all your eggs in the big yellow IKEA bag. Now, onto the Restaurant & Cafe. This is where, if you're not careful, you just might end up spending most of your time and more money than you planned when setting out. The famous Swedish meatballs are a must-try (yes, despite the horse meat incident). I like the salmon, too. The mushroom crepe could use more mushroom and flavor. The sound of the overhead voice announcing "A fresh batch of cinnamon buns has just come out of the oven. Grab a box of six to take home or eat them in the car if you can't wait" is like Mother announcing dinner's ready. Last but not least, take a cue from everyone around you and grab a frozen yogurt cone before heading out... ...as you can guess, I can easily spend more on food than furniture at IKEA.
