It's a great option if you want good, last minute sushi. We never have long wait times, and the menu is pretty creative with some touches of Puerto Rican food while still staying true to traditional Japanese restaurant. I highly recommend the Dennis Roll for a good, sweet, savory and spicy flavor. My father recommends the Pacific. Oh, how I missed this place. Had so many sushi disappointments in the past few years living stateside, so was happy to come back to my go to. Newer location than when I last went. It's bigger but the way it's separated it makes it look small. Was too hungry so I ordered the pumpkin cream soup and while it was good, it was lacking a bit of flavor. It felt thinned out or maybe slightly watered down. Our rolls took a while to come out (easily half an hour), but when they did they were brought to an area by a robot(!) which the server then picked up and brought to us. It was neat. I had my three staples (Leila, Mexican, Caribbean) and we got the Spicy Lola to try something new. The Mexican roll was nice (it's wrapped in tortilla instead of seaweed), and the Spicy Lola was very filling. The Caribbean was superb, but the Leila roll is still the all-star from this place. Possibly my favorite roll of all time. Service time wasn't great but Rolando was extremely hands on and always paying attention to refilling water, and he was extremely courteous. 4/5 due to the service time and the pumpkin cream soup missing the mark. Food was excellent and the decor is beautiful. Service was slower than molasses in winter. There were just a handful of customers, at least five servers, and although we were seated promptly and our drinks arrived quickly, it took way too long for anyone to take our food order. Why? I have a feeling perhaps it was end of shift for the server assigned to our table. She must have failed to communicate that to her replacement. However, why didn't that person check his section? Where was the restaurant manager, supposedly overseeing that everything is going smoothly? Eventually, we had to ask another waiter to please help, and she sent us "our" waiter. After we ordered, it took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Everything was delicious, but what we hoped would be a quick lunch ended up with taking way too long. And the place is not cheap, and there was a 15% tip already included in the bill. Based on service, that was preposterous. So instead of servers polishing the fake candles, it would be better if they walked around the tables asking if everything was alright. Just a thought. read more

Ikebana has the best sushi in Puerto Rico. The staff is super friendly and bilingual. All their drinks are FANTASTIC! I enjoyed how they separate their menu as well based on flavor and from land and their fish. I also like how they didn't have the typical land options as in hibachi. They had lamb, steak, etc. I think ikebana did a very good job with presenting their sushi options and desserts which are DELICIOUS! I was on vacations and went with my some family members to this restaurant and was a very nice experience. Food was great, and I definitely recommend this place. It is a little pricey for the area but quality is good and service was great. Management came to our table and ask us if everything was good and I also notice they did ask the same to several other customers. To my understanding they seem to care for their business and the customers experiences. The appetizer Shumai Dump-pan fried my husband and my mom seem to think that was missing flavor, maybe was the way it was cook. I'm just adding it here as a note for future references. This place is technically in one of the San Patricio Mall Parking Areas so there is a 3 hour free parking. There is a 15% tip added to your bill but you can ask to adjust as necessary as it said in their receipt. Our server was Elaine. We ate inside but they also have a small outdoor seating area. I didn't give this place 5 stars because of the greeting of the place, the associates where seating and talking to each other and my mom thought they didn't want us to go in, but I explain to her that sometimes there is not much foot traffic so they might not be on their best behaviors and I know we weren't looking our best but sometimes that happens. Also the bathroom needed some TLC and of course I will suggest a different appetizer since the one we got I will not recommend. This place also have a private area next to the bathrooms where I can say fit around 10 to 15 people comfortable for like a small event, The day I was there I can say was like 6 people and I did like the area. Parking can be found in a lot entrance on Calle Ebano. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and the place was mostly empty. They have a few outdoor tables as well. The decor has a modern Japanese feel but the background music left much to be desired. As in, it seems to be from an employee's playlist. The host and server were attentive and friendly enough. We ordered Tuna Chips and Edamame for an appetizer. Edamame was plain without salt or lemon. Tuna Chips were crunchy and tasted okay. The price point on these was high especially considering the edamame was unseasoned. We also ordered the Sumo roll and the J Roll roll. Both were very tasty. The Sumo was mostly sweet and a bit crunchy but the spicy crab on top overpowered the other flavors. The J Roll was savory and had a more delicate flavor combination. The price on these rolls didn't meet my expectations of their experience but they were tasty none the less. Please note, a 15% gratuity was already included in the bill. You can change it if you want but this is VERY presumptuous and unprofessional. And for this alone I removed a star from this review. Overall, the food was good and mostly tasty but it is pricey and may not be worth the cost to most people. Also, it is highly unacceptable to assume a tip! ...could have had 4 stars. read more

I've eaten here three times now, and have been conflicted on how to go about my review until now. I'll try to keep my commentary short and to the point. Solid B grade sushi at an A+ price. The entire food menu here runs between $3-$5 more than any other sushi restaurant I've visited around San Juan. There are a plethora of speciality rolls, here. I found the Hawaiian and Nakima rolls to be very good, but still priced well beyond the quality. Furthermore, many of the special variety have some type of Western and/or European influence. The Fire Roll, for instance, is topped with melted Manchego cheese... It was absolutely deplorable. Hands down the worst sushi roll I have ever eaten. That said, the service here has always been good. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. I'd recommend Ikebana, but better options certainly exist elsewhere. read more

Food at Ikebana San Patricio is excellent without any doubt. However, client service has a lot to improve. when picking up a carry out order, is a disaster. In two different times, I go to pick up my order at the indicated time to find my order not even in process when it should have already been handed out. Plus, the restaurant's dining room was at capacity, which I understand violates the executive order of having restaurants at 50% capacity. If you visit during Covid, please be ultra patient. If you order carry out be aware that it is highly probable that your order will not be ready on time, moreover, you will have to wait for over an hour to receive your carry out order. We made two orders: 1st Order: -California Roll $9.95 -Spicy Salmon $10.95 Total + Taxes: $22.52 2nd Order: -California Roll $9.95 Total + Taxes: $11.09 My initial thought was: This better be the best sushi I've ever tasted, because never in my life have I paid $22.52 for two of the most basic rolls on earth and $11.09 for the cheapest roll on any sushi restaurant. After picking up the orders me and my co-worker sat down to enjoy our VERY EXPENSIVE LUNCH and it was the most disappointing sushi's we ever seen, they looked messy and very low quality. The orders came in on a cheap white container, the rice on both orders was extremely under cooked, every bite we took had hard pieces of rice in them and to make it even worst the Spicy Salmon Roll had nothing spicy whatsoever, it looked disgusting and there was barely any rice in it, there was only a HUGE chuck of salmon. I had big expectations for this place but was really disappointed. I had visited some years before at their old location but found their prices to be way too high for what they we offering. However They've moved to a new location and I've seen their sushi at available at the movie theater so I decided to give it a second chance. Furthermore my wife found a 20% off coupon so I figured I had nothing to lose. We entered the establishment and we show to our table quickly. The location is clean and well decorated. The server was not very polite and had to be reminded twice that items were missing form the order. The food itself was okay. Neither spectacular nor bad. The prices however were even higher than I remembered. Even with the coupon the bill came up to a lot more than in all other sushi restaurants we frequent, and I must unequivocally state that the other restaurants have better tasting sushi. What really bothered me was the fact that a 15% tip was already included in the bill. I normally tip 15% for normal service and 20% for outstanding service. I would have gladly tipped the 15% but I think it's offensive to include it on the bill. I will not be returning to this restaurant again. read more

Just visited new Ikebana location in San Patricio for first time. Quality was good but way overpriced. We used to visit the old location frequently and were truly shocked by the significant price increases. Sashimi was normal size but rolls were very tiny in diameter...not in line with price since many of the with rolls are now over $20 except ones with veggies or surimi. Meal for 4 was close to $180 with no appetizers one seaweed salad two of the lower priced rolls, 6 sashimi and one hot dish. At this price point definitely not planning to return. read more

For me Ikebana is the best sushi place I tasted so far in Puerto Rico. We love so many different Sushi rolls that we can't decide every time we go. We really like in the appetizers, the spicy tuna chips, and in the salads, the JJ salad. Most of the time we order at least one of these in addition to the Sushi roll. The restaurant atmosphere is great and service good. In addition if you like craft beers they have good options. If you are soccer fan, they usually show games in their TV's by the bar. I recommend this place and will return many times. We have also visited their other two restaurant in Isla Verde and El Escorial where food and service was very good as well. I recently went back to PR to visit family and was craving the Oregon roll (strawberry, cream cheese, eel) and Hawaiian roll (smoked salmon, sweet plantains, and pineapple) at Ikebana. I know that those rolls may seem like an odd combinations, but they are absolutely delicious! I ended my meal eating the fried wontons with banana filling and vanilla ice cream. YUM! Ok so let me start out by saying I had very high hopes for this restaurant. I'm from Florida, and I love good sushi and this place is very close to my apartment. I ordered my dinner on their website and it was scheduled for pickup at 6:55pm. I arrived at 7pm and was told it would be a few more minutes. Now understand that the shortest wait time on the website was 45 minutes so that's a pretty long wait for pickup. Anyway as I watched the girl go check on my order I could see that the sushi chef was just about to start. When I asked the girl about this she admitted that was correct. Very disappointing as the restaurant wasn't even very busy. You would think the girl would apologize and offer me something to drink while I wait, even if it's a water but NO. SHE OFFERED NOTHING. AND WASN'T EVEN APOLOGETIC!!! So I went to the bar a little frustrated and ordered a hot sake and a water that took 5 minutes because the bartender had to finish his conversation first. But the absolute best part was when he came over to tell me they don't offer regular water, only bottled, AND THEN HE CHARGED ME FOR IT! Just ridiculous. No traditional sushi. There's no Temaki or Nigiri Sushi on the menu. Poor alternatives of traditional rolls. Too creative and odd combinations. My rolls were too big to eat in one bite, very uncumfortable. Too much cream cheese inside. Not even the ceviche on top of a roll was real, just cooked octopus and "crab" (fish cake) with lemon juice. The service was real good. read more
