The gelato was creamy and delicious. Both flavors I tried (Mennella's specialties) were quite sweet but they complemented each other. Didn't seem anyone tasted the flavors before ordering? They just knew what they wanted and went for it. The cashier couldn't be more disinterested in serving customers. When we were waiting for my receipt, she picked up her phone and started scrolling. Definitely the best Gelato in Italy! (We've tried a lot of Gelatos in Florence, Sorrento, Amalfi, Rome) Nut & Chocolate flavor was the highlight! Husband, dad, brother and I all had the same one! It was so good, husband and I went back for a second cone after standing outside the place and finishing the first one. Also tried the Peanut Cream and Almond, Stracciatella and Cookies & Cream. All delicious and creamy flavors. I really enjoyed this place! The staff were nice but the environment is very fast paced, so it sometimes feels like you can't make a decision on which flavors you want fast enough. I ordered the pistachio gelato based on the cashier's recommendation as it being one of the best flavors they have, but I wasn't all that impressed. I thought pistachio would be one of the tried and true flavors of Italy, but I was wrong. The texture of the gelato was airy and fluffy almost marshmallow like which is different than the normal gelato I've had in the states. I didn't mind it. It melted too quickly though. This was my first gelato experience in Italy, and it didn't live up to my expectations. Would give another place a try next time or try a different flavor here. read more

This is the best gelato I have ever had! It's creamy and flavorful. I got the cookies and cream and fior de latte, one time in a cone and one time in a cup. Portions are larger than at some other places I've been during my trip to Italy and prices are reasonable. The place even smells delicious. They had a lot of nut based flavors, which didn't appeal a lot to me, but the two flavors I got were so good it didn't matter. One time we went they only took cash and the other time we were able to use credit card. I don't know why, but have cash just in case. read more

Came here per a local's recommendation but left with mixed feelings. The women working at the shop were very rude. I asked to sample a flavor but was told I had to buy something since they don't give free tastes. I ended up getting a small cone with pistachio and stracciatella. Their portions are huge and it was overwhelming because of how sweet they make their gelato. I wanted to order a kid-sized cone but they said it was only for children so I couldn't have one (lame!). I ended up tossing about half the gelato. While the stracciatella flavor was great the pistachio one was disappointing. It tasted nothing like pistachio and was fluffy like marshmallow spread. The good: the location is perfect, right on a main road. There are dairy-free sorbets and an almond milk vanilla. The gelato is creamy and rich. The cones are made fresh, sending toasty and delicious aromas throughout the street. The not so good: the place is jammed pack (because it's great), so use your mindfulness skills to avoid smacking everyone in the face and running out screaming. You'll get pushed around and the cashier is just holding onto whatever hope she has left in life so she doesn't kill anyone. Also, the gelato melts super quickly, so no savoring. I had the dark chocolate, which was rich and deeply chocolate mixed with mulberry (tangy and tart). It was a great combo. Well today finally ate their gelato and I wish I could go back in time to kick myself for not eating it sooner. I got the almonds and orange flavor, which tasted just like cantucci! One of the best, if not THE best, gelato places I've ever been to. I saw a line outside, and followed the guideline that usually when there's a lineup, it's good, and that was sure the case. The pistachio gelato actually tasted like real pistachio, was creamy but not oversweet, and the chocolate baccio flavor was also silky smooth, and milk chocolatey without being too oversweet. Absolutely delicious, the best gelato I've had in my life!! This gelato is served at the perfect temperature and has no iciness. It is smooth, creamy, and rich in flavor. Every flavor I sampled was delicious. I had a small cone, which was more than enough for me. (There was a baby cone, which I asked for, but it is only for actual babies).
