Very famous business place for getting gelato in Sorento and highlighted by Rick Steves (if I remember correctly). It's located on the walking street which leads to Sorrento's Town Square and is well visited by tourists. We visited in October when the crowds were low. We walked right in, were created warmly by the staff, received some free samples, and ordered our gelato. We received it right then and enjoyed it - it was fantastic! I wouldn't recommend this shop if you're looking for lemon sorbet served in a lemon. I ordered their lemon sorbet, and they gave me a really ugly lemon. When I asked the lady if she could change it because the lemon looked old and dirty, she refused. I was surprised that's what I got, especially since this location is really popular in Sorrento. It was a very disappointing experience, and for 12 euros, it was not worth it. read more

Like many of Rick Steve's recommendations, the places get super popular quickly and quality often declines. Primavera is a good example with most tour guides, taxi drivers and hotel concierge's also recommending Primavera it's always crowded yet the gelato is just ok. They do have lots of flavors and some unique even for Italy. Sfogiatella caught my attention because the sfogiatelle pastry is my all time favorite but as a gelato flavor it fell flat so I went with my usual limon. They have several varieties; I got half limon and half limoncello. It was good but not so good that I returned because there are other Gelaterias that are fabulous like Antica Gelateria. read more

Tasty gelato, not so friendly staff! We tried this place based on a recommendation from our guide and also noticed the many photos of the wall of who were I guess famous visitors. One star down for apparently only being allowed to try "1 flavor per person". We were a larger party of 10 so maybe the one lady who was working the front became easily overwhelmed, but it wasn't very reasonable to risk your one chance of sampling their numerous gelato flavors. Luckily my one sample of the cheesecake flavor was exactly what I was craving. It was creamy and had raspberries mixed in. Perfect combo of sweet and tart. One more star down for the staff not practicing clean manners. My friend accidentally threw his used sample spoon in the basket of new spoons due to lack of signs and nearby trash cans. While the staff worker should've dumped the entire basket of now contaminated spoons, she only picked a few of the spoons on top and dumped those! Go elsewhere for gelato. read more

What can one say when the icon himself, Antonio Cafiero pops up behind the counter to make sure the customers are happy. My ricotta and pistachio gelato was both savory and sweet , Delicia de limones an added bonus. Since there are several gelato places in Sorrento, Primavera was recommeded to us by our driver. He also claimed this is the only gelato place visited by the Pope, which we verified by the picture hanging on their wall. It's a small quaint shop with many photos covering their walls. They offered many flavors, from espresso to lemon.... much more than what I've seen in the US. And the prices were definitely adjusted for the many tourists that visit Sorrento, ranging from a few Euros for a single up to 9 or 10 Euros for a triple scoop. (not cheap!) Since this is the only gelato place I tried here, I cannot compare it to any others, nor can I claim it's the best. But if this place got the Pope's blessing, how can it be bad? Tip: while enjoying your gelato, check out the numerous souvenir shops or Limoncello factories. Decent gelato, with lots of variety flavor-wise, fun photos, and friendly service. Cash only, so be ready. We went in after 10 pm on a Fri night, in April, not too crazy of a line. It's in the middle of the touristy streets of Sorrento. If you want to avoid the haggling, go one street over - as the shop has 2 entrances. Many photos on the wall, some of famous people (including the Pope), and we took forever to order - which they were patient with us. By the time we left, there was a line. I think we just got lucky in our timing? Seems they always have a line, I heard a lady say? Good gelato, not earth shattering, but better than anything you'd get in the US of course! Went here a couple times as it's one of the better gelato spots in Sorrento. When you get here you need to be ON. There's a line and it moves pretty quickly, know what you want - cup or cone, what size, and what flavors. They wait for no one. After you get your gelato you need to have your money ready and you'll go to the register to pay. They have lots of flavors available but I tried to stick to the staples. The nocciola is excellent, as is the fraggola (strawberry), and the baci is also pretty good. As others have noted it's a bit pricier than other spots in Sorrento but it tastes much better. read more

This place is super famous in Italy, and for good reason. At night there is always a line out the door, they have so many flavors to choose from you can easily get stuck staring at the glass for too long. Pictures all over the walls and ceiling with celebrities next to the main man over at Primavera. Having lived in Italy for a few years, I am glad I got to finally try this place out for myself. Definitely a fan. For me it was more of a 5 star cultural moment, but the gelato is very good and the guy behind the operation is very talented. I went here a few nights ago with some family friends and I got a small cone of fiori di latte and cannoli siciliano. They were both good but I would highly recommend the latter; it was basically vanilla flavor but with pieces of cannoli in it. So. Amazing. The small was a good size, but maybe not for 3€, which is a little more expensive than most other gelaterias. This is by far the best gelato that I have had in Italy. Primavera is just right around the other side of the square from our hotel so it was a convenient 3 minute walk. On Sunday night when we walked by, the line was out the door and onto the street so we bypassed stopping by. On a Monday night it is not so busy so we gave it a try. They had so many flavors! If you get a cone, which we did - you get three flavors. I chose vanilla, yogurt strawberry and limone (of course since it's like the lemon capital here). All three flavors were so good! The husband got pistachio, yogurt Nutella and spagnola. Let's just say I had more than a taste. The spagnola was so good! The gelato here is smooth and creamy. It is definitely a must try when you're in Sorrento. The service is prompt and quick. While you're waiting in line, there are cool pictures along the wall of famous people who have visited, including the Pope. I look forward to eating here again!!! read more

My husband and I walked past this place while trying to find our way back to our hotel and it was bustling with people! Of course we had to stop and try it! The whole shop is filled with pictures of famous people who had tried it in the past, so it has to be good right? They definitely offer the most amount of flavors I've ever see for gelato, but my husband and I stuck to flavors we knew - Oreo and Kinder. The Oreo wasn't that great (I was hoping for a flavor similar to cookies and cream), but the Kinder flavor is always yum! Overall, it was a nice pit stop on a very hot day. read more

Sadly this is the only gelateria I managed to try during this trip, November is not exactly a gelato season. The amount of ice cream flavours in this place is absolutely amazing. My favourite was the yogurt with wild berries, although the chestnut and coconut were good too. The ice cream is good, but when you have had the luxury to compare with other places your expectations are high. What I found strange are the photos on the walls with celebrities who visited the store, this is more typical for the North American continent, Italy doesn't need celebrities in an Ice cream heaven to make you return over and over again and I would definitely go back to Primavera for more gelato. read more

We had the pistachio gelato for 5 euros. And it was really normal. The gelato here wasn't smooth enough and tasted watery. Judging by the photo posted here by others, I would say that the owner gave us the gelato that was not blended completely cause When I asked if they had pistachio flavor they actually said it was not ready. And as I was stepping out of the store, one of the girls suddenly said that she could make one scoop for me. So I got a gelato which was not the usual color one will have normally. It felt like the owner just wanted to make money from tourists. Having tasted gelato in Firenze and san giminano , this one is really a tragedy. read more
