    Sea bass
    Mike K.

First time here while in Sorrento. This was recommended by our Airbnb host. As we approached the restaurant we were warmly greeted outside as if they knew we were coming there! Wow that never happened before to me! We were promptly seated in their spacious back ground that was decorated with a huge wall mural of the ocean. The room was brightly lit with a festive tropical theme. We had a few servers waiting on us at the same time so I was impressed how well they worked as a team in getting us water, drinks, appetizers and dinner orders. The food came out very fast! The Bruschetta was awesome and fresh. We also had the egg plant parmigiana which was also amazing as well. For our main course, we were recommended the Sea Bass special for 2. It came with a full size Sea Bass that they fully filleted for us at the table. It was served with a heaping pile of thick spaghetti like noodles with a favorable sauce. It was so delicious and the fish was tender and tasty without the fishy odor. We also ordered a pizza thinking it was just a small personal sized one. It was a huge 12" pizza! The name was Pizza Nacionale that came with sun dried tomatoes, basil, and pine nuts, and buffalo cheese. It was so delicious but we were so full from the Sea Bass that we ended up taking it home for left overs. It tasted just as good the next day. Overall, I highly recommend IL Ruttino if you are ever in Sorrento. Outstanding and friendly service, great drink and menu selections and delicious food!

Great, friendly staff and fantastic pizza. Also well priced and one of the few spots around that was open for lunch. Highly recommend the pizza!! Can't go wrong.

I came here because it was recommended by one of my friends who ate here the night before. Since I was on vacation in Naples, Italy, I decided to give it a try. I apologize to everyone for reading this, but I can't remember the name of one of the dishes I ordered. Everything was very flavorful, and the customer service was excellent. I will definitely be eating at this place again before I return to the U.S.

Another lovely evening at a place where most would feel like home! Tonight we tried the bruschetta, scampi imperiale, a pizza with pesto and multiple cheeses, the lemon cake, and the meloncello and limoncello. All delicious! If we lived here we'd be regulars.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it was a great dinner. This is why I love Yelp. I would have never found this place. I would have paid a taxi driver to take us to the area where most of the restaurants are located and totally missed this gem that is a short walk from our hotel, Parco Dei Principi. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The staff was perfect. The atmosphere is casual. We are only here for a few days, but plan to come back. Every time we saw a pizza going to another table we were drooling. Get there early, or try to get reservations if they take them. There was a line out the door when we left. Yelp said they open at 7:30, but we got there ten minutes before and there were people seated and getting food by 7:20.

It was fine. But two years ago I came and it was definitely under new management then. The staff was overwhelming and when we ordered told us it would be good with every thing each person ordered. A person outside beckoned us to come in (and others walking by) so it felt touristy now. Again, the food was fine not bad but you can find better staying in sorrento. But I remember it being so good and authentic and chill. At the end our server told us to leave a review twice before we left. Sucks because it was that good before. I wouldn't go out of your way for this at all

Don't be fooled by the understated entrance! It's completely Italian and seemed to be a local favorite and a neighborhood ambiance, not fancy, but very clean and authentic. I fell in love with Anchovies here, seemingly fried in olive oil with a very light tempura batter. The service was fine, but when we were there, our servers did not speak English, but it all worked out fine. There pizzas looked great, and we had the LA PORCINA: Fior di latte di Agerola, prosciutto cotto di Modena, funghi Porcini, tarallo napoletano sbriciolato, basilico genovese e olio extravergine di oliva

This is one of the friendliest restaurants I have ever eaten at. The staff were very pleasant and the service was very fast. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the dining area is very spacious and a perfect temperature. If you are in town this is the place to eat. The food was delicious and worth every cent.

Our driver from Napoli recommended this place and we were also drawn to it from the street. I believe his name was Ricardo at the front brought all the energy getting people in the door IYKYK. Best pizza and grilled octopus I've ever had. House wines were excellent as well. Davide was our waiter both nights and he was excellent. I would highly recommend this place.

Our daughter recommended the restaurant having eaten here once before while studying in Italy so we thought we experience as a familia Owner and staff are incredibly friendly, attentive and gracious making sure you understand the offerings and are not left needing while not being overbearing or hovering We started with assorted anti pasta misto consisting of egg plant parm, fried orange blossom, seafood salad, fried shrimp, prosciutto & mozzarella - plenty to eat for 3 people and all was good Entrees included the pasta special of the day , our daughter had the scialatielli with shrimp and my wife also split the pesto pizza with sausage.. Both pastas were cooked perfectly, al dente and the sauce on our daughters tasted delicious and stuck perfectly to the pasta. In addition the all the pasta came hot - a real art when you think its still cooked to al dente But the real story was the pesto pizza with sausage . The flavor was fantastic! I am a total sucker for pesto on anything and the combo with the sausage, cheese and airy crust was outstanding We closed with tiramissu and a rich dark chocolate cake - like a flourless tort I have to point out, all portions are very healthy sized so either bring your appetite or think about sharing This lovely intimate restaurant is a must visit when dining out in Sorrento

    Carbonara pizza

The carbonara pizza was the best pizza I've ever had! 5/5!!!! There was a young boy busting tables, working so hard. He was awesome. It seemed to be a very local spot which was nice! We would 100% come back.

Very much enjoyed our dinner here, the staff were very kind to us, especially our server David who went above and beyond. We started with their incredible Bruschetta, and for dinner we tried the Pasta with Zucchini, Snapper (Catch of the Day) and the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. The pasta with zucchini was one of the best dishes I have ever had. Meloncello was tasty for dessert. Grazie!

Great spot for either an incredible pizza or a great sit-down meal. The servers are joyful and thoughtful. Ricardo waited on us and he gave great food and wine recommendations. Their fresh seafood is delicious, but you also can't go wrong with the pizzas! Best in Napoli!

We wanted seafood because when in Sorrento...why not opt for super fresh seafood right by the coast?! Our server recommended a really delicious local red that was super reasonably priced and we enjoyed with said red: For Primi -- *Gnocchi alla sorrentina (Sorrento-style Gnocchi): I mean...we kinda had to get a regional specialty right? Gnocchi here is potato based instead. It was SO delicious - still perfect texture. They also served this HOT HOT HOT with melty cheese. So delicious and a really generous portion!! *Spaghettoni alle vongole (Pasta with Clams): Another favorite for us in general so figured a really fresh version could be stellar and it didn't disappoint! This slightly edged out the gnocchi for me flavor-wise, but the gnocchi was dang good so it just goes to show how DELISH this was!!! For Secondi -- *Grigliata mista di pesce (mixed grilled fish - this was an incredible plate of such fresh seafood. There was various fish, a giant prawn, octopus alll grilled & seasoned to perfection! *Swordfish special! -- apparently it was swordfish season and it was a 'fresh catch' and I feel like you could tell! Really lovely and nicely seasoned. Portions were very generous & we were way too full for dessert at this point! So you could probably eat more "American" style here (Just 1 entree instead of our approach), but the menu here is pretty stellar!!!

We stumbled in after some late nights out, and it was a total lifesaver, open until 3-4am when basically nothing else happened in town is. Honestly, it turned out to be some of the best pizza I've had in my life. Maybe it was the drinks talking, but I don't think so. We went back two nights in a row just to be sure. First night I had the Diavolo pizza spicy, crispy, perfectly balanced. Second night I tried the Cacio e Pepe pizza, which was rich and cheesy in the best way possible. Both were phenomenal. The vibe is awesome too. Inside feels almost like a big beer hall with tons of energy, while outside has more of a casual café feel. Even at 2-3 in the morning, the staff was super attentive and chill. We even had a bottle of wine with our pizzas one night, which made for the perfect nightcap. If you're in Sorrento and find yourself out late, or even if you're just craving amazing pizza, DeFranco is an absolute must. One of the greatest finds I've come across anywhere.
