Blink and you'd miss it from the street... you walk in (assuming it's a pizzeria) but nope - it's a 'fancy place' that you wished you dressed better for. Since this is a tourist town - all the guests kept it casual while the fleet of workers were well-dressed and constantly 'making the rounds' for refills, food, clearing empty plates, you name it. Favorite quote came from the younger twin: "the potato caught me off guard!" - when discussing his lamb special's side, a single compressed potato that floored him. (He would mention this damn potato the rest of our vacation to anyone that would listen!) One quibble: giving us really whack (dull) knives for two dishes that most definitely needed a sharp/serrated blade. (And of course this was the one time none of the staff entered our orbit to ask/complain for something a bit more effective than a darn dessert knife.) Regardless: a (most) memorable dinner. Pro-tip: keep the young one's eyes away from the series of 'donkey' statutes when entering/exiting the front of the ristorante. If your looking for a special restaurant for lunch or dinner while visiting Sorento look no further. My husband Dan & I stared the risotto in a delicious fresh basil sauce with lobster and gnocchi with clams. Both dishes were top notch and delicious. The rose wine was a perfect pair to the meal. This place was recommended to us by our hotel. The ambiance was great, and the service was great too. I got the chop lion with chips. It said it came with potatoes, but it was basically Lay's chips that were made in-house. I tried other people's food in my group, and it was pretty good. I would try this place again. read more

What a beautiful indoor outdoor restaurant in Sorrento. We came in for lunch and enjoyed the caprese salad with two types of mozzarella and the most beautiful tomatoes. We were offered a complementary meal here by our travel agent after a mistake and personally, I didn't love our meal. It was very fancy, and we tried a lot of different things. The appetizers were OK. The zucchini fritters were good. Our entrees fell flat. The gnocchi and clams had a very weird sweet taste to it that our waiter said was cherry tomatoes, but it really felt like I was eating an apple pie with clams. A few other people didn't love their meals either in our large group. On the dessert menu the cream puff says it comes with ice cream but it didn't. Sitting at the restaurant now and writing this because it was that good and I don't want to forget to do it later. We came here on our honeymoon for dinner. First, they brought us out two glasses of congratulatory Prosecco. My husband and I ordered several dishes to share and they preemptively portioned them out into two separate dishes for us, which we appreciated immensely! After we had our pizza, we were very full and jokingly told the waitress we needed a 30 minute break before our pasta dish but she told us to just let her know when we were ready to eat again. Ristorante Tasso was a fantastic spot in Sorrento, I would highly recommend it. The ambiance was delightful and so was the service, such a great vibe. Definitely felt more upscale compared to other restaurants in the area. For what it was, I also felt that it was very well priced. The food was fantastic. The Caesar salad was arguably the best Caesar salad I've ever had, especially with added grilled chicken. Of the two pizzas we got, I liked the La Bufala more but both were great. I would recommend either one. And make sure that you get some Aperol Spritz with your food, you're in Italy. If you find yourself in Sorrento, Italy I would definitely plan on dining at Ristorante Tasso. Great vibes, great service, great food. What more can you ask for? read more

We walked in and what appeared to be the owner perhaps and an assistant? Were busy on their computer where a hostess normally would be. They looked at us and ignored us. A waiter ran over to relieve them of their burden. Our tour guide suggested we eat in this restaurant, saying it was one of the best, and he was not wrong. I pretty much ate pizza every single day during my 5 full day trip in Italy, and this place had the BEST pizza. The bread was the best thing. Not sure if we just were there on an "off" night, but we had a TERRIBLE experience. There are so many signs that we shouldn't have eaten here but unfortunately we did. The signs were there was salt & pepper on the table, it was a large restaurant, not small and quaint, all the guests were American and the last, was when the waiter mentioned they had Maine Lobster as a special. We come from New England and can eat Maine lobster here, not sure it's something we want flown over to Italy. We ordered the sea scallop appetizer and they were room temperature at best. We had a Calabrese pizza that was fluffy and crisp. The tomato sauce was one of the best I've had. The salame was delicious. The cacio e pepe with added shrimp tartare was wonderful. A tasty Italian lunch! We stopped here for lunch per our guide's recommendations and were seated quickly, although the restaurant was busy, after our guide called in a reservation beforehand. Of course I had to have a margherita pizza and an Aperol spritz. The pizza could've been split between at least 2 people as it was large, the flavors were simple but fresh, and the crust had the perfect texture. To my surprise, I didn't feel so bogged down and sleepy after I had finished the whole pizza - that's just how fresh it was! The Aperol spritz was perfect. It was the perfect combination of slightly sweet and bitter, and was around 5-6 euro. There was some confusion with the bill afterwards as the server had trouble splitting the bill between our party of 10, otherwise no other complaints about this tasty meal! read more
