Allergies can be a serious concern for a lot of people, and having staff who handle those requests seriously in turn shows an appreciation for their customers. Kudos. The food we were served was excellent, across the board. The pasta was fresh, and the quality of their ingredients and skillful preparation made for a satisfying, flavourful meal. Also worth mentioning, they have a varied drink menu with lots of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options to complement your meal. If I absolutely have to complain about something to be unbiased... Price-wise, well, it's not the Ol' Spaghetti Factory, but you're paying marginally more for quality - ingredients, selection, service - and you're getting it. So, priced appropriately, I would say. This is a wonderful little town that punches above its weight. The meal I had here may have been the best I've had in 2023 (or at least tied with the one I had in Marfa, Texas). From the scallions to the pasta to the fish to the pudding like dessert paired with a sweet wine, each course complemented the next. The folks here were all so nice and I trusted them to surprise me with each aspect of the meal. I love it when I can hand that decision to experts. In such a short time, I've come to love Saskatoon. The people here have been great and with a meal like I had tonight, I'll put up this small town against much bigger ones anytime. No small minds here.

Traditional Italian fare is not uncommon. Getting it right however is much more rare and La Cucina is ready for show. All of this would be enough but the remaining layers are the wonderful people operating this somewhat new offering to the city. My father in law says the pasta was undercooked. *Ravioli: my kids had this to share. Pasta square to ratio filling was off. It could use more filling. The best part of this was the shrimp which was well prepared, firm but not hard or stringy. The sausage pieces were small enough to have no impact. The chicken pieces were large and abundant, but not terribly flavorful. The tomato sauce was fine as well but nothing to write home about. It did have some bite imparted by a healthy dose of Tabasco (as advertised in the menu), but the heat wasn't very subtle. Finally the pasta itself, not al dente as I like but just on the right side of soft. There are two cuisines where I expect the bread to be absolutely fabulous. That's Italian and French. Chianti missed big time on this note. The bread that we had was fluffy and bland with no exterior texture. When dipped in the EVO vinegar mixture on the table it turned into a soggy mess. It's a nice idea that needed better bread to sustain it. I'll be back in this area in a couple of weeks but will likely skip Chianti. I bet there is a more solid three star contender in the area.

The restaurant is a big place, they use a train car as a part of the restaurant which is pretty cool. There are plenty of seatings inside. Staff were friendly. I got Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo $22.95 CA and Penne with Chicken $21.25 CA. The food comes with one side of either soup or salad. Everything just wasn't as good as we expected. Pasta was a bit hard and so bland. Mushroom was undercooked. They used frozen seafood which are small shrimp, small scallops which is very unexpected and disappointing. My husband and my son barely complained about anything but this time they were all refusing to finish the food. The portions were also small compared to the price. I should have checked reviews on Yelp prior to ordering them. Definitely will not go back and not recommend.
