Two desserts - rhubarb sorbet and blackberry Panna cotta
    Timothy M.

The pasta here is incredible. Everything is made by hand I'd had Shrimp Vongoleand the sauce was amazing - a perfect blend of spices and citrus. And I couldn't make up my mind wren two desserts so they gave me a small portion of each - rhubarb sorbet and blackberry Panna Cotta. The service is first rate. If you're local and don't try this place, you're missing out.

Loved the intimate atmosphere. Servers were fantastic. Appetizer was ok - too much trying to go on. Main course (ravioli and salmon) were incredible. Dessert was ok

This is fresh made Squash Tortellini! It was amazing!

The food was as fresh as you can get they made it all to order. Service was prompt and friendly. It's a nice quaint establishment but the food will leave you wanting more. It was hands down the best Pasta i have ever eaten in my 62 years. I will certainly be returning next time I'm in Saskatoon!

Cute, homey little restaurant in downtown Saskatoon. And I mean little - the place probably only seats up to 20 people, if that. Great place to dine if you want to sit and enjoy your dinner with company. There was only three people working in the restaurant that evening - the hostess/waitress and the two chefs in the kitchen. It took some time to get our food but I think the point wasn't to rush this fine dining experience. If you want a quick meal, this isn't the place for you. For appetizers, we ordered the homemade ricotta and the panzanella salad. Both were excellent dishes. The ricotta was light, creamy, and silky and the chili jam gave the cheese some sweetness and a hint of spice. The panzanella salad tasted incredibly fresh but the red wine vinaigrette was barely detectable. Despite that, there was still some good tang. Also, I didn't think the capers really added much but I'm not a capers fan anyway. I ordered the ricotta ravioli and I enjoyed the fresh pasta dough used. I think they also used the same ricotta as the appetizer so it was nice and light and creamy. The brown butter sauce was a touch too salty for me but had good rich flavor otherwise. I was a little disappointed with the sage flavor though - wasn't very strong. We ordered the elderflower panna cotta for dessert and it was a bit of a letdown. I'm not sure what elderflower is supposed to taste like but the panna cotta tasted like yogurt to me. Besides the flavor, the dessert was creamy and thick and the strawberries complemented the dish well. All in all, we had a great meal here and our hostess/waitress was super nice and provided excellent service.

Four of us came in supper as a first time experience. We ordered the 6 course Alla Famiglia (@$65 per peraon). Basically the chef's choice and a selection of the dishes they recommend. Started with a delicious glass of Chateau St. Jean, a French Grenache & Syrah. The supper came out perfectly paced and we enjoyed each and every dish. I forgot to write them all down. Started with a crab dish and an amazing salad. Next was a ravioli in a brown sugar butter sauce. Then spaghetti clams in a wonderful broth. Following was an amazing glazed trout in a tomato medley. Last was an amazing peanut butter Budino. Highly recommend and thanks to our fantastic staff.

So I'm in Saskatoon for a few days. I'm a foodie but not a poster. Must this be my first review that's how you know it was amazing? The Italian restaurant was quite cozy not a big place as you can see the chef cooking. The mushrooms spread on toast were Not on the menus it was a special feature they had that day. I love The taste was amazing. You must like mushrooms. Charred octopus was to die for! I can eat 100 of them. Probably the best octopus dish I ever try. Yes, I have tried a lot. The combination of the flavour came and had great balance to my taste. Ricotta ravioli is a must. Soft and buttery taste. The pasta is made fresh made to order. We got a lot of food, but I can honest all taste well. You can see the love they put in their food. Thank you for have us!

Saskatoon has some interesting dining spots, LG is one of those. Family style dining, you pay one price for multi course meal, like in Italy. Everything is from scratch down to the tortellini which is made to order!! Service, ambience, wines all rate highly for me. Return visit is a must!!

I drove a third of the way across the country to eat at this restaurant. I'm from Vancouver where I would say we have a bit more of a foodie scene and I don't think I could find a better Italian restaurant back home. I also don't think I've ever had fresh pasta this amazing! We sat at the pasta bar and ordered alla famiglia (which frankly is the only way to go...it's $60-$75 per person and Chef Jesse will not let you leave hungry). You get to have multiple dishes off the menu and it is really a great experience. The pasta is made fresh daily and Chef Jesse makes each order as the orders come in. I really mean that you get to watch him make your raviolis or tortellinis! If you sit at the bar, you will also get a chance to chat with Chef Jesse. You really get to understand how passionate he is about food and sometimes he'll even let you have a whiff of some of the new and unique ingredients he gets in. We also got the wine pairings with our meal. Erick did a great job pairing our wines and we definitely got to try a few wines we'd never had before. Overall the experience was absolutely fantastic and I am seriously considering flying back to eat there again. The menu changes all the time so I'm not even going to go into specifics about what we ate (also because if I were to describe every dish this review would be 10 pages long but check out the pics for a taste of what we got). Don't leave without eating dessert. You won't find your average slice of tiramisu here (thank god). It would be an absolute shame to leave Saskatoon without eating here!

Little grouse is my favourite restaurant in the province. It brings a big city vibe with its open kitchen and exciting food by the talented Chef Jesse. The tasting menu gives you a chance to try a ton of stuff and really surprise you with new things. They source some great ingredients that you won't find anywhere else in Saskatchewan. This meal I was treated to an amazing burrata special with samphire and nasturtium that showcased both the ingredient sourcing and technique of the kitchen. This was my 5th visit and I'll keep coming back, it's a real treat.

We booked in advance and they checked in with our party beforehand, so we were able to let them know about an allergy concern. The staff handled that information better than so many other restaurants we've frequented. Allergies can be a serious concern for a lot of people, and having staff who handle those requests seriously in turn shows an appreciation for their customers. Kudos. The food we were served was excellent, across the board. The pasta was fresh, and the quality of their ingredients and skillful preparation made for a satisfying, flavourful meal. Also worth mentioning, they have a varied drink menu with lots of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options to complement your meal. If I absolutely have to complain about something to be unbiased... Price-wise, well, it's not the Ol' Spaghetti Factory, but you're paying marginally more for quality - ingredients, selection, service - and you're getting it. So, priced appropriately, I would say. Music might have been a bit loud for my liking, but my likings are particular and it was admittedly appropriate for the atmosphere. *If you're weirded out by seeing people experiencing poverty and the related effects of social disorder, understand that it is located on 20th street. If the reality of the human condition freaks you out, maybe go have a plain waffle in Brighton or whatever. Weirdo.

We started with well-executed cocktails and perfect calamari paired with artichoke hearts that began to expose the thoughtfulness of the kitchen. The Linguine Alla Pescatora was perfectly portioned and delicious and my wife left no noodle behind either. We were fully stuffed, but couldn't resist ordering ricotta doughnuts to take back to the hotel. They could likely run a food truck with those doughnuts alone. Traditional Italian fare is not uncommon. Getting it right however is much more rare and La Cucina is ready for show. All of this would be enough but the remaining layers are the wonderful people operating this somewhat new offering to the city. Don is attentive, fun and intelligent, giving you his full attention while still noticing the subtle beckons of nearby tables. He's a fly fisherman who feels life deeply and has great care for all. Ambiance: What started out as quiet and intimate around 6:30pm became somewhat lively (a good kind) around 8:00pm. I loved the vibe. Dark, candle-lit tables, bricked wall, bar all the way in the back and cute and clean little bathrooms downstairs. Tight cubicles if you are to pee with a child but it's ok. No change-table if you are to bring a newborn. Service: Tony, our server was excellent. He was very pleasant and kind and told us we're awesome for taking our kids to dine with us because not a lot do. He also praised us for having very well behaved toddlers! The hostess did too, which i loved. She said no one would even be able to tell there were children in the restaurant. Food: Sadly, this is where I took my 3 stars off. We were all craving for pasta, so I could only speak from the pasta perspective. Prices ranged from Mid to High $20s which for the portion size was pretty steep. Taste-wise, here's the breakdown. *Bolognese: serving super small, and sauce very salty. *Crab Tortellini: i got this, serving portion was decent on this one since tortellinis are a bit heavier by the piece. The filling of crab was basic. Not sure if they use fresh Dungeness to create the filling, it sadly didn't taste as expected. However, i did like the subtle buttery sauce and the accent of fried basil to garnish. *Carbonara: bland and could be a bit creamier with the right egg yolk ratio. My father in law says the pasta was undercooked. *Ravioli: my kids had this to share. Pasta square to ratio filling was off. It could use more filling. Ravioli pillows were tiny. *Cannelloni: excellent. This was yummy. We got meatballs and bread for appetizer. Bread isn't part of dining. Never been to an Italian restaurant that does NOT serve complimentary focaccia or baguette. Also, i noticed that they don't come around the tables to offer fresh parmesan or freshly ground pepper. Because of the service and vibe of the place though, I'd give it another shot and try the variety of meats. I got a glimpse of ribeye from the other table and it looked amazing.

As I stood there I looked at the sad attempt at Christmas decorations and dirty entryway including the lovely sticky fly strips hanging in one of the doorways. Once they saw I was there I could not seem to get it through to them that I was there to pick up and order, (I speak English).
