This upscale Italian restaurant is located super close to the Eiffel Tower, so if you plan to visit the Eiffel Tower, this is a great restaurant to eat at before or after your visit. I would recommend getting a reservation because, otherwise, space is not guaranteed. This restaurant offers a wide variety of Italian food, from seafood spaghetti to veal to gnocchi. They also offer a wide selection of wines, including some of the higher end brands (ex. Brunello). To be honest, I'm clueless when it comes to wine but my coworkers knew what to get. Great spot with a great view of the Eiffel Tower for those lunch/dinner pictures with a view! Decided to check this spot out without a reservation and thankfully they had a spot for us inside the restaurant. Ambiance of the restaurant is very cozy and romantic, came here with my boyfriend and we both loved our meals. They offer many italian dishes and their pasta tasted amazing. I got the spaghetti with clams, while my boyfriend got the spinach cannelloni stuffed with limousine meat. Portion sizes were the perfect amount to leave you satisfied and not super full. Flavours of the pasta were great, the meat in my boyfriends pasta was cooked so perfectly and tasted amazing. Would love to try more on their menu if I ever come back to this spot! read more

Amazing ! We were in Paris for two nights...and guess where we went for dinner both nights?? Yep! This place is so wonderfully authentic Italian, owned by an Italian family. Intimate and cozy, but lively ! The food was excellent - you MUST get a dish that they prepare tableside in a Parmesan wheel! My favorite dessert was the afogato and my friend loved the tiramisu. Everything was a smash. In the evening, you can see the Eiffel Tower sparkling in front of the restaurant - a great spot to get that picture ! read more

There are several highly rated restaurants on this street with awe-inspiring views of the Eiffel Tower, but we selected Il Sorrentino for our evening meal. As is quite typical in Paris, the dining room is relatively small with tables set close together. This would be our only truly non-French meal of the trip, and it was outstanding! The service was great as was the food! We selected a couple glasses of rosé to sip while sampling the bruschette al pomodoro, which was fresh and delicious with just the right amount of acid. A simple start to our meal, but it sets the stage with big flavor from an unassuming dish. My mom's spaghetti sciuè sciuè (spaghetti hurry hurry, in Italian) was so understated and yet bold in flavor. A combination of perfectly al dente spaghetti, fresh cherry tomatoes, basil and high quality extra-virgin olive oil is the basis for this truly excellent pasta. I'm not gonna lie, I enjoyed bites of mom's spaghetti even more than my own selection! My rigatoni alla Norma was also fantastic, yet was overshadowed by the simple splendor of the spaghetti. My dish was studded with earthy bites of eggplant, and cloaked in a tomato sauce laced with creamy ricotta cheese. It packed more of a punch than the spaghetti, but was also really well-prepared. I can't think of a single complaint. Dessert was sublime, caffé del Nonno, a gooey, melty martini glass filled with decadent cappuccino cream. It almost reminds me of Italian soft serve, made with coffee, cream and sugar, and served on the soft side. It was decadent, and a perfect finale to an extraordinary non-French meal. Who imagined that one of our favorite meals in Paris would be Italian?! read more

The worst food we had in Paris. I ordered the olive crusted steak medium well. The steak came out raw. The olive was not crusted but mushy and uncooked. The knife was dull. I asked the server to cook it a little longer and was met with an attitude. Upon receiving the medium well steak, took one bite and the seasoning was terrible. So I left it. My wife wanted the cheese wheel pasta which could've use salt and pepper. Still not sure how they keep the cheese wheel fresh since they keep dumping cheese sauce in the same wheel but..... We enjoy multiple dinners here annually, as have our guests for probably the last 15 to 20 years. We have witnessed the restaurants evolution over the many years we have dined here. The menu, the quality of food, and service continues to evolve. The antipasti - from a diverse platter of mixed grill vegetables with a second course of tempura style calamari, or the best eggplant parmigiana on the planet sets the tone. It's hard to choose between a whole branzino baked in salt and filleted table side, or their signature pasta dishes finished in a full hollowed out Parmesan cheese flamed with grappa. How the Michelin tasters don't star this is the only surprise. And the prices represent a good value too. read more

My wife took me here for my birthday dinner. I am a picky eater and was VERY NERVOUS. Let me just say they do a fabulous job of accommodating and their food is to die for. My wife got the Rafaela (they make it in the cheese wheel) and wow, she LOVED IT! I had the spinach cannolini and was very upset that I got too full to finish it! It was too good! Visited while on our honeymoon and could not have picked a better restaurant to end our trip with. There is only a small number of tables so be sure to make a reservation beforehand. The food was absolutely amazing. We tried the Cannelloni di limousine which was recommend by the server 10/10. We also tried the Raviolo di genovese di pollo, fonduta di pecorino. The table next to us recommend it while they were leaving. You cannot go wrong with either. Finished off with a cappuccino and their tiramisu which was a great cap to the meal. If you're into this sort of thing, come for the giant wheel of parmesan. I didn't try it or anything, but it looked intriguing. They pour some cheese pasta dish into the wheel of cheese, stir it around a while, and then spoon it onto your plate. I don't really understand how it works since I think they're reusing the giant parmesan wheels, but to each giant parm wheel their own. My kids split a margarita pizza and the server was nice enough to have it split onto two different plates for them. Otherwise the service was pretty lackluster. The server seemed to forget about us - we needed water forever. Another server took my daughter's plate when she was still holding a quarter of her pizza slice. She was upset because she had planned to eat the cheese that had fallen off, but he had removed the plate with the fallen cheese. The husband loved the complimentary bruschetta. I wonder if our bread came from different loaves because my piece was so stale it was hard to bite through. It was like crostini but with staleness. The pasta was pretty mediocre though we liked the rolls that came with it. The husband had the cheese ravioli with tomato basil sauce. It was pretty standard. I had the trio ravioli. Oddly there were more of some types of ravioli (like double the amount) than others. The trio included the cheese ravioli with tomato basil sauce, the spinach with ham (my least favorite), and the chef's choice. In this case the chef's choice was cheese with mushroom, which was fine but not earth shattering. Positive: This place is literally in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower and the street it's on frames it really well. Also, be sure to visit 29 Rapp and 3 Square Rapp around the corner for excellent examples of Art Noveau architecture. Note to self: next time go around the corner to try Su Misura's heart-shaped pizza instead. read more

Il Sorrentino is a hip little Italian place in the 7th. It's pretty close to the Eiffel Tower and if you sit outside, you can get a good view of the famous tower itself (see my photo). The food is excellent and the service very friendly. It's not cheap but then again, nothing in Paris is! It's an easy walk from my apartment on Rue Surcouf and I made it there before the busy lunch hour on a Saturday. Even without a reservation, I was able to get a nice seat outside. I ordered the tagliatelle with the cheese sauce. It's prepared at your table with the server swirling the hot pasta in a round of Parmesan cheese. First he flambe the cheese to get it going, pour in some cream, and then the hot pasta. After a quick swirl and some scraping of that delicious cheese, it's ready. It's one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, bar none. Paris is one of the great cities of the world for fine dining but if you've spent any amount of time there, you'll know that there's a lot of mediocre restaurants to the few really good ones. There are plenty of mediocre Italian restaurants in Paris but this is definitely one of the better ones! read more

Un millier d'étoiles! (A thousand stars...) An absolute jewel of a restaurant, tucked on a quiet block in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. I was lucky enough to be treated to dinner at this cozy northern Italian bistro while I was staying in Paris, and the meal was absolutely sublime. The proprietors are gracious and welcoming, and even accommodated our party of 2 without a reservation, although I would strongly recommend one. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food is simply the best Italian meal I've ever had. (And I live in New York City, so that's really saying something!) For a starter we had the calamari, served with julienned squash and perfectly cooked for a crisp, savory crust and a delicate chewy texture. I'd say it was "to die for," but if you die now you'll miss the main course, which would be a tragedy. The specialty of the house is a pasta dish served in a grappa cream sauce. When the pasta is ready, the waiter brings out a giant wheel of parmigiano-reggiano cheese with a bowl-shaped indentation, sprinkles it with grappa, and lights it on fire. As the flames dance, the waiter drops the pasta into the center of the "bowl," tosses it around in the molten cheese, scoops it back onto your plate, and serves it piping hot. It's really a sight to behold, and the taste is just out of this world. I'll be dreaming of it for years to come! A tip for visitors: If you haven't seen the Eiffel Tower light show, this is a perfect viewing spot. After dark, every hour on the hour the tower sparkles for ten minutes. Just a few blocks from the base of the Eiffel Tower is Il Sorrentino... a small upscale italian restaurant with a professional staff to match. My friend loves Italian cuisine so after some minor investigative research on tripadvisor- I settled upon making reservations here for our first night in Paris. We were greeted at the door, whisked over to a small table and given some wine suggestions right away. We settled on glasses of rouge and blanc and ordered our pasta dishes. I chose the cheese ravioli and my friend did the ravioli trio; both dishes were excellent - freshly made in house pasta along with extremely flavorful sauces. Our experience made for a nice night but I did feel a little rushed service wise- the place is pretty small so I'm sure reservations poured in as the evening rolled along. I get it- Friday night in Paris. Ooh la la... If you like Italian food / fresh pasta - I'd definitely recommend this restaurant. I have eaten at a bunch of restaurants all over the city as I've been to Paris on several occasions. This was definitely one of my better meals. I'd return for sure... if I didn't have a zillion other restaurants to try while in town lol read more

O.k. American's Yelpers here's a golden spot for you! If you're wanting Italian dishes in Paris you should try this place! This is our second time here but, out first time having the house special made in a "Parmesan Wheel". The french love using fire with drinks and dishes. Inside the parmesan wheel they pour grappa and cream, then light it on fire! While adding cream, fresh pasta, seasoning, cheese and stirring and mixing it around to achieve the Euphoria of all noodle dishes. I recommend making reservations for prime seats right by the bay windows. They have two- two person seats outside facing the street. The Owner/Manager understands speaks and understands English very well. She checks in on your table when she knows you don't speak French to help with the transition between her servers and you. True Italians who are dressed to the nines will serve you your best Italian meal in Paris hands down. They're red sauce is to die for. The Margerhita pizza is the best I've ever had. I came here for the first time in January of 2016 and have been dreaming of this pizza since then. My first bite a year and a half later of the same pizza literally brought a tear to my eye! It's that good and almost more importantly it tasted the exact same! Miguel, one of the staff members is one of the kindest and gentle human beings I've ever met in my life. So having spent the last week in Paris and looking at (and trying) many reviews from yelp, I am left wondering if many have ever had a proper Italian meal. Well, you will at il Sorrentino. If some other restaurants are 4-5 star, this is 10. Lol. Being lucky enough to have lived in Italy a few times, I can tell you this is the real deal! The restaurant itself is a fine dining experience with a superbly capable and eager to help staff. A bit cosy, but I prefer this to some of the grand dining rooms that have more seats and space but lack intimacy. However, as good as the place and people are, the food is what you won't forget. quite simply, you wont be able to stop ordering and eating. I came in for a quick lunch before a tour of the Eiffel and ended up eating! This was the best meal I have had (1) in Paris and (2) as good as any Italian in the last few years (including my home town favorite of Alessio in Laguna Beach, CA). But.... It is also as good of a meal as I have had world wide in the last few years (including Singapore, HK, Sydney, Melbourne, LA, NYC, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, etc. ). It is so close to the tourism center of the world, but it feels miles and miles away. Bravo il Sorrentino! I will be back! read more

I would have to agree with the other reviewers statements that this might be one of the best Italian restaurants they have eaten at in terms of food. The ravioli was amazing and the presentation for the Tagliatelle was great. I tried both but liked the ravioli the best. I was in Italy not long ago and would have to say this is up there with some of the mIchelin stars that I visited. Reservations are recommended. Service is not great, wait staff isn't very friendly despite two visits and dropping a few hundred euros. The food is exceptional, service not quite so much. If I factor in that this is France it is normal but that lack of friendliness, attention, and slow service drop this down a notch. My Spaghetti and also the salad were nicely done, and the Pizza on the next table looked really delicious. We went here on our recent holiday to Paris due to the reviews on Yelp. I had immensely high hopes. I am first and foremost a gal who loves her cheese and a flaming wheel of Parmesan with pasta sounded like a can't miss experience. Maybe it's because I'm American or maybe because I'm from Southern California but I found the service colder than the frosty (and rainy) Spring weather and the portions minuscule. My daughter and I both had the "House speciality" and my husband had the veal with an enormous side of streamed vegetables. The difference in the portions was laughable. His was immense ours about two tablespoons each. My daughter clamored for dessert, and the tiramisu looked great. I had the cheese plate and was still famished after a full day at the Louvre and d'Orsay. The venue was small and unfriendly and tight with portions yet excessive with the price (albeit delicious). If you're in Paris you can knock this off the "Things To Do List" and opt for savory and sweet crepes and feel immensely better about your life choices. read more
