We were craving pasta & Italian cuisine, as we were strolling the streets after visiting the Musée du Louvre. We ended up around this neighborhood and deciding to try Pompei! Pompei is located in what seems like more quiet, secluded neighborhood with other small restaurants & fruit stand/convenience store. The restaurant definitely started to fill up their seats by the time we got to ordering our food, so they definitely get busy. Pompei has both outdoor & indoor seating available. They have two floors of seating, with the bathroom on the second floor & bar area on the first floor. The staff was very kind & helpful with explaining the menu & elaborated with us about their specials they had today. What we ordered: -capricciosa €18 -spaghetti alle vongole €24 -tagliatelles aux Noix de saint Jacques (x2) €25 -spaghetti with prawns €29 - white wine with berries (I believe) €5 & 2 cokes €5.50/each Total: €137 Spaghetti with prawns is not on the menu, but today they unfortunately ran out of meat for the fettuccine bolognese & asked if we'd like to try anything else. We opted for spaghetti with prawns, which ended up being €29. All of our orders included some form of seafood & tasted light, while still seasoned nicely & fresh. My favorite was the dish I had, spaghetti alle vongole. It was steaming hot & had sweet notes from the clams. We also decided to order the capricciosa pizza halfway through our meal because we noticed pizza is very popular here & every table next to us had ordered at least two pizzas. The pizza was bomb! I came here last minute and it was absolutely delicious. Run by Italians which explains why everything tasted just like I was back in Italy. I had the caprese and the diavola pizza which were perfectly done - authentic Italian pizza (which is often not the case in Paris). All of the pastas rolling by looked amazing as well. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to all comers. I was able to walk in right at noon with no reservation but it definitely started to fill up around 12:30. Will be back! read more

While in Paris I was craving Italian food and this restaurant was recommended to me by my cousin who comes here a lot. SURPRISE - their menu is somewhat English for any non French speakers...so that would help a tourist a ton! This restaurant seems like a mom and pop type of family restaurant so that is already a great plus. It's on a corner and inside has a two story seating, which is pretty small on both levels, so I can imagine it can get crazy packed and tight! It's about 15 minutes walking from the famous Champs-Élysées street. I ordered a margarita pizza, mushroom pizza, gamberoni shrimp, and rigatoni, and last but not least..a tiramasu. The pizzas were absolutely delightful, they tasted delicious and so light and fluffy. They definitely make them with great ingredients and brick oven. The grilled shrimp was perfectly cooked and had a great flavor to it, and finally the rigatoni had some great authentic flavor to it. Overall, I'd absolutely come back here again! If you're craving Italian food, or a great pizza..this is definitely a spot to swing by and try. read more

Absolutely Amazing! While visiting Paris we stumbled upon this restaurant and it was the highlight of our trip! I'm talking so good that we ate here 3 nights! Lol The bruschetta was so fresh and tasty! But what really stole the show was the lasagna! Truly the best lasagna any of us had ever had! Also amazing fettuccine, gnocchi, and daily specials! Drinks were great! Their house wine was delish!!! And their mixed drinks were nice and strong! They also gave a pitcher of water for the table which was really nice as everywhere else we went in Paris only gave small glasses of water at a time. Not something we were use to. As for the staff!! Wow I can't say enough!!! They really do treat you like family. They spoke decent English and were extremely kind! Laughing and joking with us, remembering us when we came back! The atmosphere is also a unique experience. Downstairs tables can be reserved and are like a normal restaurant. The upstairs is more "family style". Some individual tables and some long tables that may have multiple families. If we didn't have plans already set in stone we would have ate here every night on our trip!! Wish they would branch out to the US!!! Until then, looks like we'll just have to come back to Paris to enjoy the best food ever! read more

Had dinner with my friends here during a visit in the city. Delicious delicious. Very friendly. Quiet. Good place for conversation (don't drag your stay after your done. Think of people waiting in the cold outside). Menu choice will please all ages. Small restaurant with second floor for seating. Get there when it opens at 1900. Try the dessert too!!! Once we were seated and provided menus, we asked for suggestions on the menu to which she provided a few. What a great meal we had here! This place was a great find - just a short walk from our hotel. We got there right when they opened at 7pm and walked in to staff speaking Italian, which instantly put me at ease as my Italian is much better than my French. It felt like we were dining in someone's family kitchen. Staff was super friendly and helpful and food was delivered promptly. Our meal was delicious, both entrees and dessert. I loved my bolognese pasta and the creme brulee. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Paris. It's a small place but they have an upstairs seating area as well. Pompei was packed when we arrived for some Italian-esque food in France. We found Pompei more for hunger than for quality and it matched those expectations with average, but filling family-friendly fare. If you are in the Madeleine nieghborhood of Paris consider Pompei a convenient choice for a relatively-cheap dinner ... especially if you have a whole family full of mouths to stuff with comfort food. I went with a Diavoloa Pizza with Ham that was supposed to be a spicy devil pizza, but was instead just an average tasty 3-star pizza. My wife opted for the Spaghetti alla Carbonara featuring Noodles with Pancetta, Egg, Parmesan Grana Padano and Peppers. It sounded awesome. It was average. Because the place had so many families (mostly tourists) and was so busy, service was rushed. Regardless, we were thankful to be seated at a table shared with others and quickly eat our meal because, honestly, we were at Pompei more for convenience and hunger than for quality or experience. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in my entire life! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! On a chance encounter, I met a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in years! This establishment is a joke. They care about money more than they do customer service.
