Food was great. Portions were big. Waiter was super kind and made a great Bellini would go back 100%!

Cute, cozy, typical old Italian restaurant vibes that draw you in, but the food was just OK and the service was extremely disappointing. To start, I do understand we were a big party of 8 and not in a rush, the restaurant had just opened for dinner and there were maybe 3 other tables ( 2 couples, and a 4 top) who had already ordered or were beginning their meals. It got busy maybe 20 minutes after we arrived and already ordered, and although the appetizers came out quickly an were pretty good (calamari fritti, gamberoni al'algio, brushectta, and arancini) it took nearly 1.5 hours for our meals to come out. The wait staff (possibly owner?) did come out and apologize for the delay and that there was a late cook arriving and was kind and sincere, but it was still rather ridiculous when many tables that came after us after had ordered and were almost done with their meals before ours finally arrived, given that majority of us ordered the same dish too. Then when it did arrive, the Tutti Mare pasta dish I ordered smelled good but was lacking flavor and was disappointing overall. read more

This is a nice little Italian restaurant in Camden. The food is fine (starters are great!) and the service is pretty attentive as well. I really enjoyed the Funghi Trifolati (Sauteed mushrooms in a butter and garlic sauce with chilli) generously spread over garlic bread. Their Bruschetta was also delicious! The Arancini Con Mozzarella (stuffed rice balls with Mozzarella) was a bit of a letdown and not that great. I had the Four Cheese Gnocchi which was...fine. My friend's steak was so-so as well, apparently. Maybe we didn't order the right dishes? Nonetheless, our starters were adequate and I might just order in on Deliveroo and try another dish sometime. read more

Yummy! Cute Italian restaurant. This place was really good. We started out with a pizza as an appetizer, it was pretty good, but it could have been better with fresh basil instead of the dried flakes on top. Our service was good. Our pasta dishes were tasty and filling. read more

Authentic Italian food for great prices. Had pizza that was bomb. Had linguine lobster that was so legit. Wife had the spicy garlic spaghetti that was tasty. Niece had the lasagna that was so cheesy and good. Sangria was also authentic. You should not get food this good with prices so low but you can. read more

Good Italian food is simplicity done to perfection, and Il Sugo gets it right. You order a plate of pasta, and what you receive looks simple enough - pasta, sauce, a sprinkle of herbs and a dash of Parmesan (added on request by one of the friendly waiters to your specification). But every element is just right - perfectly cooked linguine, fresh mushrooms, a delicious sauce... The service was lovely too, friendly and always there when needed. It didn't hurt that they mistakenly gave us the complementary after-meal cookies (lemon biscotti?) twice! My only regret is not having space left to try one of the desserts, too. read more

We had dinner yesterday and there were around 20 people when we arrived. We ordered Scaloppa Milanese and Branzino Mugnaia (Sea Bass). When they were ready, they were left on the counter for 4-5 minutes together with other diners' pizzas. There was no sign of the waitress and the manager (owner?) was busy talking to the customers, so our food got cold. Scaloppa had more breadcrumbs than veal, and the veal was very thin and chewy. Also salad on our plates had wilted brown leaves and lemon wedges were dried out. Sea Bass was not cooked properly, didn't look appetising - no sign of sophistication - and was covered with gooey sauce. The roasted potatoes were soggy and the vegetables were over cooked. The high prices did not justify the standard of cooking. The best thing about this place was the sweet waitress; she was very friendly, helpful and polite. There are lots of competent restaurants in Camden, so I don't think we will go back. read more

(Dec. 10, 2014) Late dinners are surprisingly hard to come by in Camden Town on a weeknight, but we were welcomed into Il Sugo by the owner and a very kind waitress. Great bottle of wine and a sampler of appetizers, followed by deliciously satisfying mushroom risotto (perfect comfort food on that cold night) for me and a small pizza for my husband. The dinner portions were large, and my hubby was happy to help me with my risotto. It was our last night in London and we were beyond full, but we ended the evening with a lovely tiramisu. Within a flash..... Tried this place via delivery at work today, I must say I'm very impressed given it only took them 25 minutes to fulfill my order. The traditional wood fire oven pizzas were a joy to behold as they showed no signs of burnt, and at the same time the taste was on par of what I expected. Me and my colleague had meetings all day at our office so timing was key, but so was a good lunch! The pepperoni for Matt along with my Quattro Stagioni were cooked perfectly with the toppings spread evenly. For a 16 inch pizza, they did really well! With the flavours from the olives and toppings covering all bases. There was only one criticism however which was the base was slightly undercooked, therefore the base was slightly chewy. Definitely a good price at £10 each including delivery charges. Another one to add to my tasty pizza places! Would order again read more

Had dinner there with a couple of friends. Two of us ordered the day's special (linguine with lobster) upon the waitress's recommendendation, which turned out to be amazing. My other friend took the other day's special, grilled sardines with a side of vegetables and was very happy with his meal. Very friendly service as well, available and with a good knowledge of the menu. We took some tapas as starters as well and were happy with them. Finally, prices are very reasonable for the quality (£13 for the linguine with lobster, possibility of a double menu (for 2 peoole) for less than £30) of the food we were served. Today was my second time here, and it was my parents third. It seems to have become a ritual to come here for dinner before watching my brother in his local theatre company. My parents stumbled upon it for the first time on the way from the tube to the theatre. There aren't too many eateries along this road that aren't raucous pubs or takeaway shops so it was a delight to find this little place. Very small inside with a really friendly front of house waiter who seems to run the whole show. My brother had about 15 minutes to eat before needing to be back at the theatre and the staff were so accommodating that they prioritised this and it came out super speedy. I ordered the chicken in mushroom and cream sauce which came with delicious potatoes. The veg and salad with it left much to be desired but the rest was so tasty it didn't matter. My parents had the seafood linguine and the mushroom risotto, both superb. Nice house white too. Would really recommend this place for a tasty, convenient eat if in the area but I wouldn't call it a date spot or a place to spend much time at. read more

I was very disappointed with the food at this restaurant today. When I had Carbonara a few months ago, it was nice, so I decided to try again. I ordered sea bass and it was left on the counter for 10 minutes before it was brought to my table. I don't know what the serving staff was thinking. The fish was overcooked and smouldered with gluey sauce, and the vegetables were overcooked and watery. It can only pass as a cafe food. How can they charge £15 for it? read more

Intimate, but comfortable atmosphere. The owner/server was extremely welcoming and accommodating, a hospitality that reminded me of my Eastern European grandmother. Our garlic bread we had for our appetizer was very good. I had lobster linguini and my fiancée had a sea bass dish; both were good. We didn't have the pizzas but they looked good, also. read more

I'm always pleased to see a new independent business open locally so was excited to give Il Sugo a go. On walking past I saw the pizzas advertised at under £4 and a member of staff came out to give me a leaflet. These were priced higher (larger pizzas) but still only around £6, cheap for London. So I popped in with 4 friends last week. Welcome and atmosphere were quite OK and we were explained the menu. Pizza, pasta, meat dishes... as you expect. We ordered a round of bruschetta but it was so thick with tomato topping that it was falling off. Tasted just OK but annoying to eat and not at all authentic Italian. Pizza was unfortunately difficult too - the knives are so blunt you just can't cut them, so we ended up ripping them by hand. Toppings weren't great quality, we'd rather pay more for better ingredients. Final point which gives Il Sugo only 2 stars... the waitress didn't write our orders down and got them all wrong when recited back to us. I didn't even bother correcting her on my drink as it was just embarrassing for her by the end. With a pen and pad we're all confident on what we're going to get and noone is impressed by trying to remember all the food. I hope Il Sugo read this and make a few small adjustments so they run a better place and I can come back to this new local restaurant. read more

Yummy little neighborhood joint. The Bruschetta was fresh, and the speghetti bolognase was delicious. I will be back!
