Il Viale stands out and above the others for their excellent coffee drinks (and food), super nice staff, the coolest vibe inside and easily the best outdoor patio space. Since I'm always interested in good coffee places I just had to pop in here as it looked very inviting. Tempted to order at the walk up window, which is a fun touch, but headed inside instead--the exterior and interior of this establishment projects the utmost confidence that they know how to make a good coffee. Which they did, a lovely perfectly foamed cappuccino with nice dark espresso. Made with care and skill. No line at all. Employees very nice. Definitely not cheap, but it seems this is the new normal. I lingered onsite after stopping by a pop up Il Viale was hosting on 9/13/25. The outdoor seating was full, taking advantage of classic sunny summer sunshine on this Saturday morning. There is limited indoor seating, which I opted to sit by the entrance. This allowed me to experience this indie cafe's vibe. It had a bit of European flair which was pleasant. Definitely the two female baristas (owners?) handled the constant line with efficient cadence. Dealing with orders at the window, orders at the counter, serving up pastries, and dealing with dishes. Pretty impressive actually. I had driven by this spot many times this past year, usually hitting up other indie cafes in Edmonds. Featured beans were from Camber, roasted up in Bellingham. Spot on mocha. Glad I detoured and stayed awhile after the pop up. Even caught up briefly with another Yelp Elite/All Star/IGer. Adding this to my Edmonds rotation. Recommended! read more

This place is lovely! I was finding a coffee shop around the area and stumbled across this one :) The outdoor section is #vibes. It's so cute and you feel like you're in Italy having an espresso and coffee. The staff was friendly too! My girl friend and I were pleased. We had the iced peony peach tea with chocolate hazel espresso biscottis! They also have sandwiches and gelato. After 4PM, they have a bar next door called Bar Americano that serves non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. The bartenders were friendly too cuz we were just stopping by but said we'd be back at another time to try this place out! Parking is street, although you probably could park at Ace Hardware. My girl friend and I did the 10 minute walk from Edmonds City Hall since it's free 3 hour public parking in 2 areas of the lot :) nice weather too! read more

I've been waiting so long to write this review. We booked our wedding venue at Bar Americano, attached to the coffee shop and held a coffee hour after the ceremony. Through this whole journey the staff has been absolutely incredible and we are so grateful for all the accommodations. They didn't hesitate to customize add-ons for our coffee time, run our card ahead of time so we could just enjoy, and of course serve the best coffee in the state. We have swung by many times to look at the space, or just have more of their addictive coffee. I highly recommend the mocha and leaving a big tip. And if you're hosting an event, there's no better team around. read more

I think we hit them just wrong, so I'm not going to go too hard on them. There were only two people working, one of them new, trying to figure out the register. They were completely overrun, line down the hall, pastries all but gone, drink orders stacked six or seven deep. To add insult to injury, gaggles of karens and packs of Friday-morning coffee club types were all trying to out-special each other with their obnoxiously complicated drink orders. "I'll have a double grande matcha oat milk latte with a hint of vanilla but not too much, and could you finish that with cappuccino foam and dust it with cinnamon..." I think I rolled my eyes so hard I sprained something... The wait was over a half hour for two (normal) drinks and one of the remaining cookies. Ambiance? Chaos. The coffee was exactly what you would expect from a barista at the end of her rope. I've been there - she has my sympathies. I can see how this would be a nice little cafe under other circumstances, though. I hope they work out the personnel and supply issues, find the rhythm of business. It wasn't good - but I'd give them another try. read more

Il Viale is the #1 cafe in Edmonds and probably one of the top cafes I've ever visited in the country. From the upscale look to the friendly neighborhood, it's truly an experience that can't be missed if you're in Edmonds. The shakerato and the neko drinks are our usual orders for a very classy upgrade from the usual orders elsewhere, but every beverage is well made by a staff that's always friendly and engaged with everyone from locals to visitors. If you need a morning pastry come early as they have great choices like the rye chocolate chip cookie or their delicious biscottis. The paninis are great for a light lunch with friends. The indoor ambiance makes for a great coffee date, and plenty of outdoor seating for outings with friends with furry companions. You can tell every detail was labored with love to make a one of a kind experience, from the vintage register to the customized tile floor. The owner swings by from time to time so say hi and tell her and the baristas how great this place is! I tell everyone about this place and it's my go-to place for coffee, conversation, and unwinding. read more

I now have to choose between several Amazing coffee shops nearby. Il Viale serves what I would imagine to be a very authentic Italian coffee. It seems like this because it's always served in a cute little cup and pulled from a gorgeous traditional Italian machine that creates a slightly different pull of espresso. The drinks themselves range from classic lattes to ones with an Italian twist. I've been to bar Americano next-door and it's also created with this Italian finish that is so well done. It doesn't appear to be a veneer. It's just a nice classic take. This is a friendly spot where I always have a great chat with the staff as well. read more

After a lovely dinner, the husband and I wanted a night cap before we went to see our movie. For clarity, I have been trying to get here since they opened. But they don't open until 4 and I was never in town at the right time but I was in luck tonight. We came in around 5 and the place only had a couple of patrons. It's dark and swanky with several places for couples to sit. We found a corner in the recessed sitting area and snuggled up while we looked over the small menu. The drink menu looked interesting and filled with classic and reinvited originals. I had an aviation and a Negroni and they were both delicious. The bartenders were spirited and fun and a master of their craft. Very friendly and helpful when we had questions. Highly recommend this small and intimate establishment. read more

We were headed to Edmonds today for a walk in the sun, and wanted to get some coffee somewhere that we'd never been. Everything about this place we enjoyed. Great ambience. Excellent customer service! Delicious coffee! My husband had a cappuccino. Our son had a vanilla latte. I had a vanilla latte with 1/4 the sweetener. Mine had the perfect amount of sweetness for my taste. Excellent coffee flavor. Love that they serve the drinks in ceramic mugs. Every drink gets a tasty square of milk chocolate. A neighborhood gem. It's open 7 days a week and has a huge outdoor space that catches ample sun in the summer and is heated and covered in spots on those colder days. Great coffee and staff. They also serve beer and wine and are attached to Bar Americano next door that opens when the coffee side closes and shares the same space. Staff is very good and very friendly. read more

The food is always good, I've never had anything too greasy or taste bad and the coffee is the best in the area as far as I'm concerned - I don't think I've ever had coffee taste as good as this! I 100% recommend this coffee establishment over every other in the edmonds vicinity. My only complaint is we were there this morning and had a drink mishap and the younger girl working wasn't inclined to be helpful about it and charged us twice as well. I can't say she was friendly or accommodating but the other staff members have always been helpful and kind. read more

Food and service were great! The whole place is a vibe. I've been twice, once to the bar and once to the cafe. They're separate so you can pick.
