Again another friendly voice , he explained everything. Couldn't fix it because it needed to be dug out near the meter. And the other utilities were not available to mark the yard before digging. However, minus two stars in this review because every 5 years or so Nicor sends us a letter reminding us that our gas meter is in our basement (which it always has been), and that it really should be moved outside. Typically these letters admonish us for not having responded to their previous attempts to contact us. This past September we received one of these letters and I did what I always do: I called Nicor, confirmed they have our correct contact information, including email and phone number, and asked what we should do about the meter. Per usual, the representative gave me a phone number to call, and like always I called it. On this latest occasion, Nicor told me to call the Nicor Scheduling Department at 1-800-730-6114 x3. I called and spoke with Leo, who told me yes, they could arrange to have our meter moved outside. Leo told me that he would send an email to their private contractors and we should hear back from one of them in a few days. Surprise! It's been three months and we still haven't heard back. Happens every time. Then, this past October, a Nicor technician came to our house for an "inspection." She saw our gas meter in the basement and told us it should be moved outside. I explained how Nicor has told us this before, but each time we follow up with Nicor, we never hear back. She seemed surprised and told me she would follow up with her supervisor. Okay, fine. Alas, once again, we've heard nothing. I guess we can expect another letter in about 5 years.

They send late fees for no reason with no explanation and one day I tried calling to ask why and representative who answered picked up the phone while laughing and asked me what I wanted. They have also charged me 6 different times for late fees for no reason and my building manager has had to call them to get it dropped. There is no reason for that even to happen in the first place. Lastly, what company in 2015 doesn't let you pay through your own bank? I bank with chase (like millions of other ppl around Chicago) There is no way I would ever set up direct billing with AUM because I would be charged for all sorts of random things. The worst part about it is you want to make an individual payment to them they charge you a $7.50 fee because it has to be be done on their website or mailed by check. They also don't accept credit cards over the phone! I'm sorry, but what is that shit?? Are we living in 1992? I am not renewing my lease for the simple fact that I will not pay such an awful company such as AUM a penny more.

Complete with parks, theatres, colleges, a bustling downtown, and even a riverwalk -- there's really everything that one could want conveniently located here without really heading into the city of Chicago. One of the major drawbacks though maybe that traffic around here, Joliet, and Aurora seems to be getting increasingly more congested -- negating some of the advantage that you get when driving around the suburbs, but on the other hand the new shops and shopping centers being opened in the area makes it increasingly more convenient with making this a one-stop city for all your needs. Prices here are a bit higher than I see in Schaumburg or Arlington Heights, but not a ton higher. This is not exactly a one-to-one comparison as there are many premium options located here as well which appear to be in line with the pricing that you'll see at other locations of the same chain around Chicagoland. I highly recommend visiting the downtown here during December, as this does have one of the larger light displays of the suburban downtowns. Unlike some surrounding areas, you can walk directly to restaurants and shopping from the display here instead of having it separated a bit from the main shopping.

That filters out a lot of nice suburbs that Naperville really should be competing against. Always check the competition. The point here is it could be better. One area it could be better in is its support for non-fossil fuels for its power source. As of now, it's in a ridiculously long contact with an organization that sources 80% of the fuel we buy from coal. This is a city that brags it's e-friendly and sustainable! Moreover, recently this company it has its power contract with is trying to get Naperville to renew its contract now, 5 years before the renewal deadline and 10 years before Naperville has completed its financial obligations. Naperville shouldn't even consider doing business with this company and find reasons to dump them asap and find new environmentally friendly sources.

The lower level has the vending machines so I may choose that area to sit with a window view-street view so to speak & if need to take a short break to stretch, can easily treat self to the vending area. Not to focus too much on this, I came to the library to connect my setup, computer, hotspot for a project. I had to use the lavatory, however the upper/first floor one was occupied so I took the elevator to the basement level to attend to whatever. After I was refreshed, I decided instead of going back upstairs to study, work, I would set up shop on the lower level with a window view. I managed to get some things accomplished for close to an hour after setup & was fairly comfortable to the point I would watch TV listening through my bluetooth headphones. I decided to get something from the vending machines, snack, soft drink & was delayed a bit there because of others who were there prior line at the vending machine. After I got the snack/drink, I proceeded to head back to my station/table mind you with my headphones still on as was listening to the TV broadcast so not too far from where I was working. Some librarian or lady approached me saying something so I had to remove my headphones to figure out what she was trying to communicate. She said something about I should not leave my items unattended & because kids are down in this section they may bother my stuff or something. That was the furthest from my mind as I have worked in this area in the past like on Sunday nights & no one has ever raised any concern to me about that. I was confused about the librarian's concern because if kids were down there, they should be monitored & supervised by their parent(s) or guardian(s). There should be no reason for anyone to bother my stuff if the place is honest. After this rude exchange with me, I figured the librarian did not want me there especially in that section as maybe adults should NOT be in the children's section. So I decided to just leave the library entirely as I felt unwelcomed & considering this has never happened to me in the several times I have studied on either floor level. I would not recommend perhaps adults to study or setup anything on the lower level, children's section as this librarian may have had concern that the kids would be unruly, out of control & unsupervised as to tamper with someone else's items in that section. Other problems with this library since I am on a roll: Well!, the bathrooms only have 1 stall so the reason I went to the lower level was to use the lavatory. I now regret having to go to the lower floor but it was out of my control & could not wait for the upper/first level lavatory was free. I also regret now perhaps remaining on the lower level to study though I thought & have asked in the past if it was fine to set up & study on the basement area though kids seem to be running around down there. The noise never bothered me because I have my listening phones on. And today, when I was rudely approached, there was really no activities down there so I really did not understand why this librarian approached me unless it was some type of profiling situation and did not want someone like me to be there. I clearly disagree with the librarian's assessment that my items were unattended as I had just left my set up area & remained on the same level just to go to the vending area. It was not like I went back to the bathroom or went upstairs or went outside for a moment. I could still receive the BT audio signal from the TV program I was watching and listening to and thus did not abandon my items & I did not feel any concern that my items would be tampered with by anyone. I assumed people are trustworthy perhaps more so than this librarian who approached me. Perhaps dishonest patrons here? Fine, I will not come to this library again. There are better ones. Another problem: Cramped or no adequate parking. In summary: They say adults can study and set up shop in the lower level area that may be for children but yet they really do not want adults down there and will blame the adult if they have their computer setup down there so clearly they do not want an adult down there other than those attempting to supervise their offspring. Adults should stay in the upstairs sections. Sometimes some parents did let their progeny run around out of control down there jumping on some thing on the floor with a balloon image. So it could be a safety issue if they have no control of things running into something that is pretty much stationary. --running the risks of injury. so adults or those studying probably would be best going to the upper level to study and let the lower floor remain for youngsters activities and the librarians should do a better job to not mislead adults saying they can study safely down there.

They tore up everyones lawns and in our case also tore up a little less than half our driveway. We were assured that when work was done repairs would be made. Time pased and no word. I spoke with people at Nicor who assured me someone would call to arrange an appointment to allow us to show them the damage. No one ever called us to come out to our residence, and there has been no communication. Months have passed, so I texted the last person I had spoken too. He texted back asking my address. Now days have passed and no other response, so I texted, because I want it in writing, that I will pursue legal action not only with the Illinois oversight commision, but also my lawyer. I'm not letigious, but this is more damage than we can afford to pay for. I will reach out by phone call tomorrow. I would love to settle peacefully, but am ready to go to the extreme of a class action suit if necessary. We pay our bills, and rising prices every month, so when do big, rich corporations like Nicor do the same? This is beyond frustrating. I am furious at being ignored. Residences of this working class area, Skokie, Illinois, may have Nicor thinking we are ignorant of the law, and that we are going to allow this negligence, may have some legal surprises if they don't anti up and pay their debts. After we bought a house I discovered that I could pay it through Nicor's website instead. I had a bill immediately due, so I authorized an immediate payment for the due amount and set up automatic payments for any future bills. I got confirmation the next month that the bill had been paid. All set, right? Now, today, I got a message that my next bill was available. I was curious how much it was for, and upon checking Nicor's website, saw that it was rather high -- noting a past due amount. Whaaa? Through some magical internet fluke, payment was not deducted from my account (nor did I receive any notice, now that I look at it) so they tacked it on to the current month's. This is some nonsense. I just want my bill to be paid every month so I don't get hit with late fees or past due notices ... I'd like to keep my good credit, thank you, why are you making it so hard for me to pay you?!
