What could improve is patient care. They are good at getting you in and doing all the eye tests. When it finally comes time to meet the physician it lasts a total of 2 minutes. The physicians are always in a hurry and leave you with more questions than answers. I felt very rushed and dismissed. Since then I've been somewhere else and am so much happier. read more

On July 23, 2025: Will being treated by Dr.Mathew MacCumber, MD for treatment on my RIGHT EYE that was scheduled to receive an injection of medication, the doctor injected the needle into my LEFT EYE. Although he was very apologetic concerning the mistake, claiming that in his thirty years of practice he had never made such an error before, he nevertheless did make this medically negligent mistake. read more

I was very impressed by Yashir at the Mediacal district ofice. She was kind and very professional. I was having some insurance issues. She patiently walked me through the process. After a routine eye appointment, my eye doctor recommended I see a specialist for a newly formed retinal hole, to make sure it wasn't severe. I called the office and was able to make an appointment within the week with Dr. Chaturvedi, whom my eye doctor recommended I go see. I waited for about half an hour before being seen and got all the initial testing out of the way, which included dilation. A few minutes later I met with Dr. Chaturvedi and he looked at the hole. Luckily, it was a natural occurrence as a part of aging and nothing that needed a procedure. He's very charismatic and good at explaining things. I appreciated him walking me through what was going on in my case and answering all questions I had. Other random notes/tips, we found cheap valet parking at Macy's which is a block or 2 away from the office. Also, you do need a key to use the restroom. You can just ask the receptionist for it. read more

Back when I lived in the Chicago area, I was a patient of Dr. Orth's for about a dozen years and in my experience he was always great -- very personable and knew what he was doing. He's also the team ophthalmologist for both the Bulls and the White Sox, so that says something. IRA has a number of offices in IL and IN but I always went to the Loop location at 25 W. Washington -- it's buried in the building and a little tricky to find if you're visiting for the first time. Great practice overall and I would highly recommend them. read more

I have been taking my mom here for a couple of years for Macular Degeneration and I am in the appointment with her when she sees the doctor. The whole experience for us has been great and these folks have done everything they can to ensure my mom gets the best care possible. Dr. Rezaei is one of the most caring and thorough medical professionals I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. On two separate occasions he has gone above and beyond to treat my mom's MD. The first example of Dr. Rezaei's excellent care was when my Mom's vision changed drastically and we called the emergency number. Dr. Rezaei (who was out of the office at the time) called us back and told us to meet him at Rush hospital and he treated my Mom for an infection that had developed in they eye. If not for Dr. Rezaei things might have turned out much worse than they did. The most recent example of Dr. Rezaei's excellent care was when my Mom told the intake clinician that she did notice a significant change in her vision but for some reason did not express this to Dr. Rezaei. A few minutes after we got back home we got a call from Dr. Rezaei because he noticed that she had told the intake clinician one thing but didn't tell him the same thing. After taking the time to listen to my Mom he said he would like her to come back in. I asked if we could come back now and he said sure. If Dr. Rezaei had not gone back to review my Mom's chart the change could have gone untreated until her next appointment. I believe Dr. Rezaei's willingness to go above and beyond is the reason my Mom's MD has progressed so slowly and she has kept as much vision for as long as she has. Currently there is no cure for MD and all the doctor's can do is try to help preserve as much vision for their patient for as long as they can and Dr. Rezaei is truly dedicated to his patient's treatment. read more

Within an hour of experiencing a disturbing eye issue I was at Illinois Retina Associates for an appointment. I was thrilled they were able to squeeze me in. The office was run like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was friendly and efficient. I couldn't have been happier with the service provided. This is the worst experience I have ever had with eye treatment. The staff are all extremely unreasonable, arrogant, and cold. Everyone working there looks like they want to pick a fight with you. The doctor Zach Ravage has zero ability to keep his appointment. They tried to reschedule my appointment an hour earlier by leaving me a voice message on the same day. When I called in to ask if it's still good to keep my original appointment, they asked me to come into the office. When I arrive, they told me the doctor is leaving and asked me to leave. How ridiculously crazy! If you read this message, you are lucky enough to get warned. DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE BY GOING THERE!!!!!! read more

Great experience. I was worried about a long wait time after reading reviews for the Illinois Retina Associates at other locations, but this wasn't a concern for me at all. I was in and out within an hour or so. Dr. Timothy Flood saw me and was fantastic. He was very friendly and enthusiastic, which he maintained even when I was fidgeting. He was also very professional and clearly knew how to use the equipment. Another thing I loved was that he was very clear during the eye exam about what he was going to be checking and how. He moved pretty quickly, which was great, but I felt a little rushed and didn't feel as if I had the time to ask many questions. The rest of the staff is also worth noting as they were helpful and nice. Mandy, the woman who conducted the first half of my eye exam, was one such example! Overall, I think I've found the ophthalmologist office I will be returning to for check-ups! read more

This is an odd, stressful place and I will not go again. The staff seems angry with each other and with patients. I was experiencing a general darkening of vision, like somebody had turned down the lights, but he wrote down "seeing dark figures," which is not the same at all. That happened several times, and we ended up arguing sharply, which is really unpleasant at a doctor's visit, and in fact, I cannot remember it ever happening before. The time with the doctor was unproductive and frustrating. I had come in with two conditions important to me, worsening dry eyes and the vision darkening, which I figured was the beginning of cataracts, and the doctor didn't address either condition with recommendations or advice, so when I finally asked directly his perception of my dry eyes or darkening vision, he simply said, "Oh, I've seen worse." Well, duh! But how to make them better or at least manage the symptoms? He managed to offer the single most basic help for the dry eyes available at every dry eye website in America, that is, 'bathe your eyes in warm water,' and for the worsening vision, no advice whatsoever. I was not, he said, a candidate for cataract surgery. Wait until it gets worse. No hint about how long that might take, what was considered 'bad enough' for surgery, any possible dietary adjustment that might forestall surgery or even improve the situation. Nothing. I got charged AN arm and a leg for the single least productive doctor's visit I've ever had. read more

I saw Dr. Flood, having been referred by my doctor at Northwestern. Every single person, from check in to check out, was helpful and amazing. I have a problem that will require ongoing attention, which is sad, but the visits to the office and Dr. Flood will certainly make my problem easier to face. Started going there regularly, after my optometrist (who is excellent) picked up some retina damage during their imaging and examination of my eyes. Illinois Retina routinely misses, or downplays, important issues. In several instances, they missed issues that my optometrist picked up - for example, on one visit, they told me everything "looked great" until I mentioned the issue my optometrist noted - then - surprise! - they discovered the significant 'folding' of the retina, right in the center of the eye. The same experience occurred in their Skokie office, the optometrist discovered a hole in the other retina, but the Illinois Retina MD was very dismissive, and really made me feel like I was wasting their time simply coming in to ask them to check it out. The front desk staff at Skokie were arrogant and unhelpful; it took quite a bit of discussion to get them to bother to call the optometrist and retrieve the imaging and examination notes. read more
