Received great care from the office. Scheduling was very simple and was seen within same week. The front desk staff was extremely kind when checking me in and out for the appointment and they explained everything my insurance would or would not cover before proceeding with care so I had no suprises. I started going to Illinois Spinal Care in the beginning of the year, after some ongoing lower back issues started flaring up again. I had a situation going on that impacted when/how often I could go in, and the doctors were more than willing to be flexible and work with me on scheduling. I love this place! I came in here with a crazy amount of discomfort and tightness to the point I could barely move my neck. You know when you sleep badly and wake up having to move your whole neck to turn, like a robot? Yeah, that was me. I can now move my shoulders and I am feeling overall so much better and sleeping better. The holidays have been stressful and at times I could not make it in, but the office staff worked their magic and found a way to fit me in so I could stay on track. I've been seeing Dr. Redinger and Dr. Bertke for 4 years now and they have restored my ability to do even the simplest things without pain. But the MOST AMAZING thing they have done was help my 4 month old baby girl with her stomach troubles. As a personal injury defense attorney, I am naturally apprehensive when it comes to chiropractors. I see many offices take on patients in and out like a conveyer belt, rarely changing daily notes, not spending time to actually see how the progression is, merely ringing up charges. I have seen one chiropractor in the past and it was a great experience; granted, it was a friend whom I trusted (and he did a great job!). Luckily, that made me less apprehensive about seeing a chiropractor again and when I moved out of the city, I needed to find a closer office to visit. I've always had tension in my shoulders/neck area, pain and tightness in my lower back, and after a stint in the hospital for esophogeal problems, tightness and pain in my middle back. I avoided it for months, but when the pain got bad enough, I bit the bullet, checked yelp, and made an appointment. I am very glad I did! All three doctors at the practice are not only professional, but very nice. Each visit, they ask how all of the patients are doing. The set- up may seem unconventional to some, with tables out in the open, but its actually very helpful. Some patients have questions, and the others get the benefit of hearing the answer. Ofcourse, if you ever felt uncomfortable and wanted a private room to be seen, there are areas for that. They do anything to make you comfortable. I felt a great benefit from treatment and I will continue to see them on a regular basis for continued maintenance. One thing I always disliked about people who have sought chiropractic care and did not see the benefits, is that more usually than not, they went once or twice. There is no magic cure when something is really wrong. If you have something really wrong, its going to take more than one or two quick adjustments to right a lifetime of wrong (and they can help if you allow them to do so!). But if you had a quick tweak, its a great idea, too. You don't have to go through a whole long treatment process. See them a few times, or multiple times a week for months... depending what is wrong, they can help. And if there is not anything wrong, maintaining proper adjustments has also shown to be very beneficial! So, for someone that is against many chiropractic offices, I give 5 stars to this one. You will receive treatment from all three of the doctors throughout your time here, and all are friendly, professional and effective. If you are on YELP! looking for a chiropractor, you are already questioning it, so you may as well just give it a try! read more

This review is long overdue but I need to write about how much Illinois Spinal Care has improved my quality of life. I am an average active person but about a year ago, I noticed I was hurting when I walked. My gait was out of alignment. I was kind of limping. I first went to PT for 2.5 months and it helped a bit but I still had issues with sitting, sleeping and just plain walking. I had never been to a chiropractor before so I was nervous. On a friend's recommendation, I went to Illinois Spinal Care. I am so glad that I did. I was thoroughly evaluated at my first visit and it turns out my spine was out of proper alignment and had disc issues in three places. I worked with Dr. Boyd and Dr. Redinger for several months to get my back into shape again. Dr. Redinger was super supportive and always worked to problem solve what was going on with my back and figure out how best to get it to stay in proper alignment. It was definitely a journey and my back's needs changed each time it improved so it helped that he was so persistent. He always explained what he was doing and why. I really felt like my concerns were always addressed and respected. Today, I am 100% better. I am now again able to kayak, do yoga and walk long trails again without pain. Without the help of Dr. Boyd and Dr. Redinger cheering me on and patiently working with me and my back issues, I can enjoy an active lifestyle again. I work in healthcare and I am a trained practitioner in internal medicine locally.. to be honest, I don't recommend chiropractors much due to poor experiences... BUT, from first hand experience and seeing my husband's recovery, I would HIGHLY recommend the Drs here. My husband is 28 and was complaining of some lower back pain and sciatica symptoms for a few months. Mostly from basketball and previous injury. He doesn't take pain meds (only an occasional advil here and there) but he just couldn't take the pain anymore. He would get out of bed and had to stand for 5 min to catch himself before moving on. He wouldn't be able to easily get out of the car... it hurt him pretty badly. After reading these yelp reviews, I sent him to see Illinois Spinal Care. After the first 3 weeks of sessions, he already felt better. His entire therapy lasted about 3-4 months (the sessions tapered off toward the end since he felt better). We are about 1.5 years out now... and knock on wood... he is normal. No complaints. No pain. When I ask him how his back is (he still plays active basketball and works out regularly), he says "Nothing. Perfect". When you see this kind of a result, you can't help but write a positive review. These are, hands down, the best chiropractors around. These doctors are extremely competent and know how to make you feel better much quicker than other doctors I've visited, and while they encourage monthly maintenance visits (which are definitely worthwhile) their treatment plans are not long, drawn, expensive plans that do little to help. I love ISC! I was going there for almot a year in 2010 and I am definitely going back after I have my baby to get my spine in shape again. Initial exrays showed that one of my legs is shorter and I just needed to wear a special shoe insert to correct the problem. I felt 200% better instantly from my lower back! I could not believe that I had to wait 15 years in pain to finally meet doctors that know what they are talking about! I LOVED my massages with Tunisia. This Christmas, one of the things that I am most grateful for is Illinois Spinal Care and their amazing doctors! I struggle with significant back issues and these fantastic doctors have kept me out of surgery for the last six or seven years! Their services have been the only thing that I have seen to improve my back pain (no success with physical therapy, medications, or cortisone injections). I did not believe in chiropractic services before I started with them and only went to them years ago as a last ditch effort before spinal fusion surgery. Best decision I've ever made! "No Pain No Gain" does not apply here! I came in basically hunched over and could not turn my neck. I was seeing a neurologist and then was referred to a neurosurgeon because I was living with excruciating back pain that had taken over my life. I had problems walking and doing simple chores. Even swimming was difficult. I started gaining wait due to inactivity. I used to be a long distance runner and swimmer. Then, it was recommended to use pain management in terms of using ibuprofen, hydrocodone, and once monthly cortisone injections through IV done by the neurologist in outpatient. Yes, there was some relief and I could move around somewhat. I was able to walk down the aisle at my daughter's wedding. However, I had also gained 30 MORE lbs and appeared like the Pilsbury Dough Girl. Plus, being a Type I diabetic, my blood glucose levels had been rising.I was falling apart and in poor health to say the least. The neurosurgeon decided one last ditch effort before surgery would be to go to the recommend Illinois Spinal Care in Elmhurst, go to physical therapy, and concentrate on losing weight. I also went up to Mayo Clinic to consult about the diabetes and my weight. Physical therapy was short lived. It was extremely painful, I ran out of insurance and it cost too much money out of pocket. I started at Illinois Spinal Care in October with desperation and deep skepticism. However, the people were very kind and accepting. Dr. Rettinger, Dr. Bertke, Dr, Mendoza, and their entire staff were very accommodating. Within two weeks, the pain was still there but had lessoned. I managed through the holidays with massage therapy, icing and chiro adjustments 3 X per week. AND NO DRUGS! I thought it was improving. But then, the sciatica kicked in over New Years. OMG. A different kind of pain. I could walk all right but sleeping or sitting or moving on my left side was so inflamed and painful. First week after New years, Dr. Bertke said I had to come every day and no massage until the inflammation had calmed down. Constant icing. Within three weeks, it had calmed down. At this writing, the first week in February, the pain has changed from lower back type pain to sharp shooting pain on my left side, which is sciatica. It also was traveling up my left arm and I was weakened. I had regressed backwards. This week in February, the sciatica has calmed down but, every wrong movement reminds me that it is still there so I will be in adjustments and more massage therapy for a while. I have lost 30 lbs since November 1st and will continue and this also will improve my back with less pressure from the weight. My advice: You cannot say anything until you go see these wonderful guys. Like I said, I was a complete skeptic of chiropractors until a neurosurgeon sent me to seek one. If you also have any form of bad posture or scoliosis, it will also help you. I am hooked! When I leave, I feel oh so much better. Good luck! read more

I have learned so much about health and wellness. The doctors are so knowledgeable and they take great care of me and my family. I have converted my entire family and they all come here. This includes my parents, sisters, brother, aunt, grandparents, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and my husband. My son who is almost 2 comes in as well. Years ago, I was in a bad accident - I was off of work for over a month - couldn't even bend my head down to my chest, or turn my head to the right - I was MISERABLE. After going to my doctor, and being on all of the pain medicines possible - I decided to try some chiropractic care at Illinois Spinal Care, which my sister had recommended. I have to honestly say - they gave me my life back! Not only did they treat me in the offices, they gave me exercises to do at home to speed up the recovery process. I was so impressed with the work they did, as well as the individual care they provide for each patient. And... I was COMPLETELY pain free after going through my treatment plan. I regained all of the movement in my neck - the tingling and shooting pains all went away. It was miraculous. I just recently re injured myself (ugh!)
