Every time I come in here they treat me like I'm a prized customer and like family. The owner gives me discounts because I shopped at his store before he became illusions. I went in the other night because my friend broke my dab rig. I looked at many different rigs before I finally decided on one. They were very patient with me even though I was still trying to pick out my dab rig after they were technically closed. They didn't try to kick me out, or remind me that they were closed. They walked me through the different varieties of rigs and allowed me to decide. The employee (owners son) even found a matching carb cap. read more

This place definitely has a home in Davis and much to it's respect this post just concerns it's practice. I bought a scale from them quite a whole ago from the son who runs the place when the father is not there. And for some reason the error of calibration came up many times deeming my scale worthless. Already sick of the scales problematic features I gave up and invested my money into another scale from WildZone in Sacramento owned by Sam, a very knowledgable enthusiast than here at illusions (worth a visit). I called in today to see if I could finally get it replaced or fixed entirely from illusions only to be given a discount on another scale if I were to purchase. This is very poor practice to me and I feel sad that I wasn't given more attention seeing how the sale of the original scale netted them over 1000% in profits. It's a real shame when someone who sells you something can't or rather won't put responsibility in their sales practice when something they are pushing goes awry. With that said best of luck to this shop, but please be knowledgeable when going in or go someplace else. read more

This is by far some of the worst customer service and pricing I have ever encountered. My friends and I walked in looking to pick up some shish and we were met by a stand offish 20 something with a scum stache. A few minutes later the presumed owner came out and was even more unfriendly than the first guy. He aggressively told us he sold the cheapest products (completely untrue) and that we were crazy for thinking otherwise. Not only were the employee out rightly mean and uncaring it seemed they didn't even want to sell their products. I will not be returning and am now more than willing to pay a slightly higher price to order online so as to avoid any more encounters with these threatening scum lords. read more

They had a good selection of the brand I was looking for that had been recommended to me. They included some extras with my purchase and I was happy that I was supporting a local business. I make special trips from all the way out of East Sac specifically to shop here for my shisha needs. Friendly and helpful guys, I'm glad they opened up their new store (now also called "Illusions" in Davis as well, at their new location). They've treated me right from the very beginning, and are a good source of info as well. They have a great selection of pipes, shisha, coals, and general merchandise you'd expect from this sort of shop. Have yet to find anything that comes remotely close to the what this place can provide in Sac, so I'll continue to make that commute over to here when I need supplies. read more

Illusions has some pretty cool gifts and an impressive back room full of pipes and "tobacco accessories", with a few really lovely glass pieces that I haven't seen elsewhere. The staff didn't seem exceedingly personable or talkative, and when I come back I'll skip the front room full of crystal and rhinestone-laden clothing... but I *will* come back from that smokers-delight back room. read more

Moe is amazing :) I was up in Davis for a conference and forgot to charge my Gpen. The guys at Illusions were incredible not only did they test to make sure my own was working but they had the charger I needed and gave me a great price. It made my day knowing that I was able to use my pen for the long drive back to SoCal. On a side note they also have a wonderful selection of water pipes and rigs. They had David Goldstein rooster rigs, hit man, toro, even a few local artist and a fab egg. I was randomly looking through their selection and saw a in n out cup that I've been looking for and almost bought it but had to leave to go back home. I called the next day and got the best customer service I've ever had from a head shop. After being spoiled by spending the Summer at the likes of The Cave in San Mateo (easily the best headshop in the Bay), Illusions is a one-stop emergency shop when you're too lazy or don't want to wait to go back to your usual shop back home. The prices on the glass are pretty standard, so this place probably wouldn't be great for a large investment. The shisha prices are somewhat steep also for what's expected in the Bay, but what's a stranded college student to do? However, they do have a wide selection of paper and shisha products, so you'll likely find you need/want as long as it isn't too obscure. Overall, a standard head-shop with standard prices. Stop by for supplies, but save that big trip for somewhere else. read more

I have been coming to this store for the last 5 years. From glass to papers, mike has everything you may need. I bought a couple vapes from them a few months ago and was sad to find that one wasn't working. I came back to see if I could get it replaced almost a full month after purchasing it. They were still kind enough to replace the pen even though it had been a few weeks since purchase. I've been to this store too many times to count while here in Davis for various items. Always leave happy! They do accept credit and debit but cash is always best! read more

i know the owners personally!! when i moved outta davis, i was sad to be in Elk Grove without a smoke shop! but then Ray and Mike (the bros who own the business) told me they opened Illusions in Elk Grove offa Franklin Blvd!! I love this family .. haha .. i've bought all of my hookah pipes from them -- i've never been cheated out of a price or a deal. My 3 foot hookah stands tall with a Hematite and Crystal body and an amazing air feedback through an invisible pearl carb that only a true hookah connoisseur would understand .. the air flow is AMAZING. and it only cost me $75!! it's worth $150 due to the materials and design, but c'mon now .. had to cut a a discount from my favorite guys here .. they even hooked me up with top of the notch tongs and my favorite flavor (Starbuzz's Sweet Dreams), plus a dice roach clip and a roll of flicker coal. All for under $100. you're the man, Ray ;) prices with them are fairly basic, i can't complain. a whole box of Japanese Coals for $10 is hard to beat. the $6 roll of flicker coals (the kind you light with a lighter and it flickers on its own til it flares). $10-15 for a big can of flavored tobacco. price depends on the brand because Alwaha is the cheapest, Starbuzz is the most expensive. They also carry Fumari, which is a better kind of tobacco for those of you who can go through a couple a bowls. One bowl of Fumari should last through at least 3-4 sets f coals, maybe 5. the flavors are really good too, very rich, and my favorite being the Tropical Punch or the Mint. his pipes go for pretty cheap, the bongs can go pretty high though. i always get a deal and i've bought at least 3-4 pipes from him (not just for me, hahahaha.. they were gifts!) and not once has he skimped me .. he has every wrap u can think of in almost any flavor available .. also has a buncha accessories, different styles of one kind of thing (like grinders for example). he also has a buncha random paraphenalia .. he has a big array of cigars/cigarettes to choose from. Once in awhile, i like to smoke this brand called Sweet Dreams (or Dreams?) and although other smoke shops sell it, i've never gotten it cheaper than i have here. these stoges run for over $5 a pack, comin close to $6.50 and even $7 in most places! I get it here for a solid $5, which could usually buy me a pack of Camel Crushes @ Al's Liquor in Sac (off Cottage) .. i always refer Dead Zone and Illusions to my fellow "heads" .. i send them to Ray in Davis or Mike in Elk Grove ... tell them the little filipino girl from Davis and Elk Grove sent you!! =) read more

Bought a fairly pricey bong from here, took it home, and on the first bowl knocked it over and broke it. Illusions was nice enough to give me a new one for 1/3 of the price. Highly recommended. Good customer service, and good prices. read more

Actually a really nice place in Downtown... a brother and I went to check for e-liquid and Illusions had a fairly nice juice collection including Starbuzz and 7s and one other plastic bottle brand. Picked up some Starbuzz liquid that was surprisingly close to top notch. Prices on the Starbuzz juice seemed close to prices on Suicide Bunny elsewhere, 30mL for ~$20, a fair price. Illusions also seemed to carry a decent mod collection for the e-cigarette users. The glass room was excellent. There was a wide variety of glass pipes to choose from. The store owner seemed like a very nice person, offered to throw in a free bottle of 7s liquid for testing. Illusions has found a new regular. read more

Dishonest business practices! My husband is trying to quit smoking, bought the e-cigarrette for the transition. These guys sold us used e-cig cartridges, without the seal (factory tab used to indicate it hadn't been used). My husband was having terrible withdrawal and said the e-cig wasn't working....after inspecting the refills we found that all but 1 was missing the seal and were completely empty! We took the cartiridges back the next day, and the owner nonchalantly took them back, he made us wait until all other customers were gone from the store (and earshot)- he then gave us new refills with the seals, but not before he accusingly asked us if they had been used! Wow, if I were a business owner selling used cartirdiges I would be concerned! He surely was acting guilty enough, I am sure he or his employees are using these then trying to sell them to customers. Imagine how terrible it is to quit smoking and get empty refills missing the nicotine replacement! Against my better judgement and because I didn't want to drive to Sac, I went back for my husband for 2 additional refills. The owner approaches me and says this time we won't be taking any back, we can't tell if you used them!! I told him then don't sell me refills that are used with the missing seal! He said, oh some come that way, I don't know why, and anyways I don't use them!! wow... Avoid these scam artists.... Thinking of calling the better business bureau on these wierdos read more

Great glass pieces at great prices. If you want the high end pieces then thats when things could escalate quickly and before you know it you could be paying a lot. A LOT. Shop smart and go in having an idea of what you want. Be warned though, if you are under age (you have to be at least 18 to see the pieces), they will be very strict towards you. Having a talk with the owner, he told me that undercover cops come in from time to time to make sure that they're not doing anything illegal. Overall a fantastic place to buy inexpensive glass pieces. Until Davis opens a new shop, this is the spot to go. read more
