She took extra reservations for a small cost that arrived late and had enough room for all of us to sit comfortably at the tables. The food was delicious and atmosphere perfect for our reunion. There was a bar. A classmate and his wife performed and acoustics (other than our class being loud because they were excited to see each other) were great. There was a large slide screen for our video and a projector. I brought a DVD player. They had decoration for the tables (tablecloths and center pieces) and I substituted our own center pieces. There were lots of other details provided generously, such as easels for our name tag boards and other things. It was our best reunion ever, thanks to the Car Barn and Shirley!

We asked beforehand if we could drop off some things in order to have them ready BEFORE our event which started at 6PM. When my mother-in-law arrived at 1:30 on that Friday Talitha asked her and my father-in-law to "not be mad just to leave" without explanation. When we arrived for the reherseal dinner, NOTHING was set up, and Talitha was nowhere to be found. I also asked Talitha to set up a table for myself, and both sets of parents to be sitting together (which was in the contract...she's very uptight about that). That was not set up accordingly. Talitha also made a big deal about bringing in Gumbo and providing rice. She was not nice towards myself, my mother-in-law, and my own mother. On a positive note, the other workers made sure to help and set up to make our rehearsal dinner memorable. The included DJ was also great! This place is great unless you are working with Talitha. Before booking here make sure you know what you are getting yourself into! She was too worried about people being in the meetings or dropping things off rather than making sure our event was the best and listening to our request. This should have been a pleasant experience, but she made it very difficult on everyone involved. It's extremely disheartening because the venue itself is nice.

We booked the one hour train ride with dinner at the depot and that part was on me. I assumed…read moredinner would be served on the train, but we were actually seated upstairs in the depot. It is a very old, nostalgic building, but once we saw the setup I started to worry about the food and unfortunately that instinct was right. The salad was honestly the best part and tasted like a bagged mix. The hors d'oeuvres were hummus, goat cheese, and tomatoes. Just okay, and I normally love goat cheese. We preordered herb chicken with potatoes and asparagus, and salmon with potatoes. The salmon looked pretty but tasted awful and was overcooked. Whatever it was sitting on underneath was not edible. My honey's chicken came out undercooked and bloody. When he sent it back, the waiter, who I truly felt bad for, was told to explain it away as normal near the joint. It is not normal. The replacement chicken was still bloody. That should never happen. Dessert was cheesecake and strawberry crème brûlée. The cheesecake was good. The crème brûlée tasted artificial and missed the mark. The train ride itself was decent, but since it was at night there was not much to see. I would have preferred doing the ride first while there was still some daylight and then dinner after, but that may have been in the details I missed. Next time I would do just the train ride and skip the dinner.

We came in via Ooltewah and I was following my gps, which took us straight to the site. However, the entrance to the parking area isn't clearly marked and being that it's on a hill makes it difficult to located in time to pull in. We bypassed it and had to turn around. Very annoying. After we got turned around and pulled into the parking lot, which was gravel, we parked and exited the car. My wife had a hard time walking to the barn due to the gravels. The grade of the parking lot and the walk to the barn and wedding site were steep and were certainly not conducive for those needing assistance. Several older folks had a hard time getting up and down the large hill. Even the younger crowd had a difficult time due to the steepness of the hill. As we all gathered down by the large tree we noticed a rope holding the tree together where it had split down the middle. This wasn't really a problem but it was interesting. It was also hard to sit because the chairs weren't level. This place was beautiful but everything was on a hill of some sort. Be very certain that this place is the right place for you and your guests before you book and pay.
