This pop-up happens in Studio C, a creative culinary wonderland that consists of private chef dinners, single daily meal specials, morning coffee and this sweet pop-up. When Amanda took to creating these artisan donuts, the city immediately flocked. Follow her on Instagram (@indydough) to see the different baked goods she cooks up each week. She usually makes donuts: think everything from cherry vanilla crullers to guava cream cheese old fashioned and black sesame glazed donuts. They're truly cooler than any donuts you've ever tried. I saw a post about white cheddar, green onion scones and immediately hopped on it. I messaged Amanda the night before the pop-up and she set one aside, as they usually sell out. This is the kind of place that you will have to arrive incredibly early to even have a chance at scoring a donut. There's a limited amount and they sell out in person within 30 minutes. I just so happened to come across them with a Tinker Coffee partnership. They were sadly out of most pastries, but we ended up with a galette-like tomato + cheese tart. It was so damn drool-worthy. It had a variety of colors of tomatoes. It was perfectly creamy from the cheesiness and salty from the buttery pastry. Can't wait to try more of their stuff and hope to see them do more pop ups downtown!

I have been a fan of the Harrison Center for several years now after taking a walking tour of the…read morefacility. So, when I heard they had a pop-up shop for items, mostly made by artists at the Center, I made plans to attend. Located at 15th and Delaware, the Harrison Center consists of three buildings (including a gym and a church!). There is convenient parking in their lot accessible from 15th or 16th to the east of the Center. The pop-up shop is located in the City Gallery which is located on the west side of the southern most building. You may have to use the intercom to have them "buzz you in", but the wait is usually very brief. The shop/gallery is located on your left as you enter. There were a wide variety of items available though the shop is small. I saw ornaments, jewelry, and scarves. Soaps and postcards too! I also bought a calendar, a "paper doll" book that is more of a behind the scenes look at the Center than a real paper doll book. I also grabbed some coloring books and post cards. All that I picked up were affordable and reasonably priced. Truly unique too. The pop-up runs Monday-Friday through Dec 24th. Hours are from 9 to 5. Sometimes I have time to paw through thrift stores for that rare gem. Lux & Ivy is that store for those of us who love unique clothing and want other people to do the heavy lifting. I saw so many items that I loved (including some gold sandals), but I left with a long black skirt that had cork buttons running down it. See what I mean about unique?! It fit perfectly, and even better: It was 20% off! Even without the discount, the skirt (and the other thrifted clothing on the racks) were priced reasonably. Lux & Ivy offers not just clothing and shoes, but also jewelry made by local artists, beauty products, vintage home goods, bags and lots more. Sad when you have to ask for a bag and your items just get shoved into a cheap plastic bag. Typically around the holidays, most stores make exceptions to their return policies but not greedy sisters.... I like to shop small business but next time I'll stick with pottery barn and save my money and receive better customer service

Broad Ripple Village. It's an unique neighborhood of Indy, on the far northside of the city. Where…read morethere are businesses based out of bungalows, the Monon trail runs through it, and people venture down on the weekends to frequent the boutiques and local restaurants (La Piedad, Bazbeaux, Flatwater, etc). Broad Ripple Village is going through the same changes that other neighborhoods are seeing (luxury apartment complexes, shuttering of small businesses, raising of rents forcing businesses out of mixed-use space). Over the past two years we've lived here, I've been frequenting nearly all of the places here. Except Filigree. Until now. Filigree Bakery- off Carrollton Avenue, adjacent to Fresh Thyme Market and where there used to be a Lou Malnati's. The word Filigree itself refers to the intricate metalwork used in jewerly, the lace-like patterns of gold and silver one might see in Indian jewerly. Small but intricate. The feeling of warmth out of something tiny. The space is small, but the filling in the macarons were not. I got a 6-pack of macarons- picking out two Pistachio (natural bias), strawberry, strawberry with lime, and other some others. The amount of filling in the macarons was more than I would get at other places. So definitely very filling. I'm not a macaron connoisseur. Suffice to say, I liked it. The shop was nice. We need businesses like this in BR.
