Where to start.......... Had my hair trial in April for my August wedding. The trial itself went fairly smooth. Paid for the trial and booked my appointment for the day of the wedding. The owner even offered to do my hair for my party the day after for 1/2 price. My thoughts, "awesome! this is great!" The day of the wedding, I'm excited to get my hair done first thing in the morning. Appointment is 7:15am. I arrive and open the door to see only darkness inside. No one was there and I set the alarm off. Now Nutley PD are here, and I'm thinking.. is this really happening on my wedding day?!! I kept calling the owner who was unresponsive. The policemen searched inside, took my info, locked the door back up, congratulated me and left. She finally arrives at 8:05am. At this point, I don't know whether I should be more stressed or relieved that she finally came. Long story short, door was locked.. no one had keys.. so the waiting game continued. My appointment didn't officially start until almost 8:50am (over 1.5 hour past my appt time). Next day, I'm supposed to get my hair done by the owner. She promised me she'd be on time tomorrow. I arrive on time... lo and behold... SHE'S NOT THERE!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, she wasn't 'feeling well' so she didn't come in. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!!!! No courtesy call???? No heads up??? No taking responsibility to take care of your clients??? I was so furious at that point but I managed to keep myself together. I was told that my hair would be done by "the next available stylist." Excuse me but I am the bride. This is not how any bridal appointments should ever be managed. Needless to say, I will not return. read more

I had been planning my wedding for over a year, had a hair dresser lined up and thought that everything was all set. With just 2 months to go, my hair dresser canceled. Thankfully, I found Imana through Wedding Wire reviews and even more importantly, they were still available. From the first conversation, I experienced nothing besides pure professionalism. My trial was great. On my actual wedding day, Amy came to do my hair very early. They were super punctual, professional and just had the best attitude. They made me and my bridal party (including moms) look absolutely fantastic. I couldn't be happier!! I have since switched to Imana for all my hair services. If you want a butchered haircut with a bald spot look, then this is the place for you. Went there for the first time because my usual hair cutter from another salon was not available. Was told this person worked well with curly hair. Brought a picture of a simple pixie cut. Ended up with chopped up uneven unblended hair, a bald spot and one long strip of hair she totally missed! What an unprofessional hack job. Then they had the nerve to offer me a bang trim in 2 weeks! Like I would trust them a second time after that experience?! Now my "professional" hair cutter from my usual salon has to wait like 2 months for this disaster to grow out so she can correct their mess! Advice if your usual person is not available....just wait until they can fit you in and don't go to Imana! Only gave one star since no stars are not accepted. read more

Imana is my go-to spot for keratin. My hair is thin and fine (but can frizz up like it's nobodies business), so I go for the keratin express. This allows my hair to still have some volume after the process. They use high quality products and all of their stylists are top-notch, kind, and friendly. read more

This is a cute place, very clean, and everyone is nice. I came for a blowout and before making the appt. I always tell them I need someone who is good with blowouts. My hair is wavy, and a bit puffy. I can blow out my own hair and it comes out perfect. I'm lazy and like to get my hair done. Needless to say, I left with puffy hair. I was disappointed but was in a rush so I paid and left. read more

Came here with a Groupon and had an appt with Kate. My hair was horrible since I haven't received a haircut in over a year, it's hard to find professionals that know how to work with my type of hair but I think I finally found the place and it's right near my house so extra bonus points. Kate was great!!! She did a good consultation with me and really understood what my hair issues were and advised me about what products to use. Of course she suggested the product lines they carried in-store (which are very good products) but I liked how she didn't push them on me. She just made recommendations and wrote down what specific products she used on me if I wanted to purchase them in the future. I already made my next appointment, I finally found a good local salon!!! read more

I've been coming here since 2010 & they never disappoint. I will only trust Amy to do my keratin, no matter how many other salons offer it. She gets it perfect, & it lasts for a very long time. I've been coming here for about three years & stop in 1-2 times a week for a blowout Francesca and Samantha ares my go to gals and give me beautiful waves. The monthly unlimited blowout package is dirty cheap at 150 $ a month. They give an amazing high-quality blowout like Dry Bar New York City!! I also get my color and cuts here. All of staff are very professional and super sweet You can't go wrong with this place. They also do make up and spray tans. Prices are very reasonable. I'm also super picky and used to be a hairdresser Imana is one of the better salons in the area highly recommend it to anyone looking to try new spot!!! read more

I love this place. My best friend bought a groupon and this is how we discovered this little gem. The environment is very relaxing and stress free. The staff is so nice and always make sure you are ok. The stylists are very friendly and although I prefer Skylar, everyone is experienced and has great skill. I have been going to the salon for over 3 years. I had a very special appointment booked and no one had the courtesy to call and tell me that my hairstylist Amanda didn't work there anymore. They were so unprofessional and booked me with someone who washes hair! They clearly don't care about their clients!!! Will never be going back!!! read more

The owner of this establishment Imana along with one of the workers whose name is Diana had asked me to make a purchase for them for $250 before making this purchase I made them aware verbally and by text told him several times that I would be making this purchase out of pocket and being a single mother of an eleven-year-old child losing $250 could be a serious Financial blow for me. when I went to deliver the items that was asked for me to purchase it was said to me that they changed their mind and they did not want them of course I was extremely upset saying to them I told you that I would be paying this out of pocket. Diana told me she would call her boss the owner of Imana. I was ignored, not even a response. After i did them such a huge favor. driving from where I live all the way two towns away to pick it up for them doing them the favor and driving it back down and delivering it to them paying for it out of pocket and then they didn't even have the decency to respond. Monday morning I will be going to the courthouse to file a small claims court lawsuit. read more

I started coming here June 2014. The salon is beautiful and super clean. The staff is sweet and friendly; they make you feel right at home as soon as you walk through their doors! They use top of the line hair products which you can also purchase. Skylar is my hairstylist. I've never encountered someone like her. She exudes professionalism on all levels. She has an amazing vibrant personality! My hair can be challenging because it's short, wavy and curly. Skylar makes me feel like I have the BEST hair in the world! That's priceless! I love the haircuts she's given me! She listens and gives you exactly what you want and that's very important! She also colors my hair and I couldn't be happier!
