It's hard to find someone who knows your hair! So, I've been going to her for a hot minute! I don't know why people are saying Ruk and her crew are not professional. They are talkative, relatable, and real people. Don't you want to feel comfortable esp if you're going to be In a salon for a few hours?? Honestly, I don't know Ruk's crew by name besides her daughter but I talk to everyone and everybody is great and super nice! Ruk is just a whole bunch of awesomeness. She knows I have no idea what the heck she's talking about when she's explaining stuff to me. But is trust her and give her full range on what to do. Whether highlights, lowlights, balayage, whatever! I know my hair will be taken care of and the products she uses won't damage my hair. They also added an addition to the salon. So, they also offer facials and eyelash treatment done by her daughter. This place is cool, hip, laid back, but get the work done. Depending on what services you get, expect to be here for a few hours too. Since this shop is in Bayonne, there is one street parking. My suggestion is to make your appt as early as possible to secure parking in the front or else you're going to end up driving around looking. I've suggested this salon to many people I know. I still suggest Ruk's salon to this day!

I actually saw the IG influencer Jeanne there who I know via her IG that she is a frequent customer. Ruk's entire attention was on this influencer. I guess it makes sense that the salon would care more about her than a new customer. However, it still felt a bit crappy. Just be transparent if there is no capacity or please set the correct expectations. I would have totally been OK waiting another couple of weeks if needed. There was another customer who came in for a consultation with Ruk and Ruk took about 1 hour to finally talk to her. Then when that customer was trying to book an appt, you can tell Ruk was trying to have the customer book with another salonist. When the customer then said that she was trying to book with Ruk specifically, Ruk then said sure.

They were upset but they remained professional and charged a late fee for hair and makeup services, which is totally valid. Kathleen started on my hair first and was done very quick in like 15 minutes. It was a simple braid hairstyle and curling. I appreciate that she gave me advice on the way the braids should go so it looks best with my face shape and hide the breakage I have. Inna started on my makeup once I was done with hair. She was nice enough to remove my makeup for me because I was running so behind but you would usually come in with a bare face. She was the sweetest and definitely knew what she was doing! She moisturized my face and even my lips (I have eczema). Her instructions were clear and it did not even take that long. I got there at 4:45 and left at 6:30. The only downside is I would say the prices are kind of steep. The hairstyle was $60 without the tip. I could understand the makeup being $150 for full glam but I do not understand charging separate for lashes that were used. How else would you do a full glam? Overall I appreciate the staff at The Bar Beauty Lounge and loved my birthday look! I received lots of compliments and would recommend them if anyone wants to splurge to look fabulous.
