Where do I begin? Where there was a clumsy, scary staircase leading to my old musty, dank, and…read moredepressing basement, now it leads to a pantry. Where there was a wall leading to nowhere, now there is a solid, beautiful, secure staircase leading to the most bright, sleek looking basement with a three-piece spa-like bathroom. I was a little nervous because I unexpectedly could not be there to give my opinion every day. Boy, did he not need it! Gerry is a genius and more importantly a VISIONARY. There are so many personal touches that on the day I walked into the finished basement I just about cried. Let me begin with the list: He created a finished basement from scratch. He added an egress that is so ample and easy for anyone to climb out of. He added a splitter that has moisture control, air conditioning and heat. He added doors to our water heating unit, just because he thought they would look better enclosed (boy was he right about that). He CREATED a bathroom from scratch. It includes beautiful tile work that he installed; a three-piece bathroom set, an exhaust fan, a special bonus of blue and orange colored lighting (just because he heard that I am a diehard Mets fan) and blue tooth for music! Who does that??? He does. This kind, courteous, good natured man, that my husband enjoyed talking to every day, that's who, Gerry Salzman. As to pricing, I had three estimates. His estimate was the most reasonable. Look no further, trust no one else because his word IS his word. Whatever he says, he means. There were no unexpected "add-ons". The estimate was the final, except anything I wanted in addition to the original contract. We have had multiple projects, from bathroom remodels to kitchens, dormers, etc. My husband and I consider ourselves veterans to the consumer side to home remodeling. In our 30 plus years, we have never dealt with someone this professional and courteous. I hope this helps you to choose Gerry as your home improvement specialist because you will not be disappointed.

Of course I have very expensive taste and the tile I liked was very expensive. They offered a very similar tile, that was half the price (I couldn't tell the difference between the two). I was very grateful to save all that money. I am not one to typically leave reviews but that is my idea of going above and beyond and deserved a review. Throughout the entire process, he was communicative, respectful, and happy to answer questions and explain anything. And I ask lots of questions. Something notable which set him apart from others I've used in the past, outside of the exceptional quality of the work, is the cleanliness and respect to my home. He spent about a half hour each day just cleaning up the surrounding areas and footpaths ensuring they were just as they were when he arrived. It's a small detail but has a tremendous impact and really demonstrates the care put into the job. As mentioned, the tile work was incredible and came out better than I expected.
