Quality has declined and the prices are too high. $11 (even though the menu said $10) for eight lousy chicken fingers is a joke. This was such a disappointment. $45 dollars worth of flavorless mush. Would recommend Panda Express a thousand times over again before this place. (And that's saying something) The soups were even awful. Would strongly recommend not ordering from here. We had cold crab Rangoon's that were the size of a quarter of that, flavorless chicken curry that came with three pieces of chicken, orange chicken that was quarter chicken chunks that was super soggy. The fried rice was literally white rice with just a a lot of soy sauce on it. It literally was just stuck to the box and on top of the lid and so over cooked. TAKE OUT-CHECK CREDIT CARD STATEMENT! I ordered food for takeout last week. I personally picked it up and was handed the receipt from the owner, Richard. I signed the receipt and handed it back to him and left. Happened to be checking my credit card for expense purposes and noticed on my statement that I had been charged an additional $6 than what I signed the receipt for. I called Imperial Dragon first and was told that I'd need to speak to the owner when he got in. They added, it gets busy on Friday nights so I might have to wait until the next day. I said that's unacceptable and he needed to call when he got in. He did call. First of all, when you are in the service industry, DO NOT TALK OVER PEOPLE. It's obvious you are not interested in what they have to say when you do. Richard Confirmed what I had signed my receipt for (which should have been the correct amount I should have been charged), then he gave me some long winded explanation in which he insisted the error was on the financial institution's part. I called my credit card issuer and was assured that the error was keyed in by Imperial Dragon. I had to dispute the charge to recoup my $6. Thankfully the credit card company makes this an easy process. I called back to Imperial Dragon to let Richard know what the credit card company said. No apology, no humility, no acknowledgement that it may have been an error on their part, just rudeness, similar to my first interaction. I personally will not support this restaurant again based on my entire interaction with Richard-from pick up of the order to the final phone conversation. I am not suggesting others do the same - I simply want customers of this restaurant to be mindful of what has actually been charged to their credit card. read more

This used to be a great place for Chinese food. We ordered food for 15 people with very few in our party feeling satisfied with their meal. The food quality was subpar and the portions of meat/seafood was practically nonexistent. For instance, one shrimp dish included a single piece of shrimp. I tried this with a friend last night and can not believe how disappointing everything was. We ordered the pot stickers appetizer as we both love dumplings. Disappointment is an understatement. The outside was seared perfectly however the insides were mushy and filled with liquid. They fell apart once you cut into them. We both ordered combination plates with wonton soup. The soup was the highlight of the meal but came out luke warm. My cashew chicken was watery and bland, the fried rice was overly salty. My friend's chicken lo mein was pretty tasteless, haphazardly thrown on the plate with the same overly salty fried rice. The egg rolls were filled with grease and oil like the fryer was not nearly hot enough. They acted like a sponge for the oil. The server reeked of cigarette smoke like he had sat in the back while smoking a pack of Marlboros. He slammed dishes and glasses down on the table but was generally friendly. I am a longtime customer of this establishment but the last visit is my last. The food quality and taste has been steadily going downhill over these past several months. Last nights order was bland, unappetizing, and unappealing. After consuming about half, I felt sick to my stomach. I suffered until 5am when I visited the white Beijing bowl and unleashed the Tet Offensive bombing. The intensity of the attack lasted the next few hours. Trust me. There were no survivors. Went to Imperial Dragon on Feb. 12th. I ordered War Sui Gai and my husband had Beef Chow Mein. We have been to Imperial Dragon before and thought the food was good. Last nights meal was by far the worst Chinese food we have ever eaten. We got quick service and the food came out very quickly.....this should have been our first clue. The breading on my War Sui Gai was barley cooked.....outside crispy and inside raw batter. The beef in the Chow Mein was barley cooked. So disappointed.... The restaurant was not very clean. We ended up here after getting our hound dog chipped. Mentor has so many fast food places and we wanted Chinese, so we went out of our way. We started with the pu pu platter which was on the menu for $8. What a bargain! Until we realized it was $8 per person. Admittedly the waitress asked "for 2?" when I ordered, but I do not remember seeing that noted on the menu. On the other hand, after the gigantic and worth-the-money pu pu platter, we didn't have much room left for supper. I ordered either the Orange or Empress Chicken. (Sorry I don't remember.) Upon eating the leftovers however, the whole thing was a little too sweet. The server was attentive and polite without being annoying. So now you're wondering "Ok lady, so why 2 stars?" The manager on duty. I have no idea if this is the owner, but he acted like it. He directed the floor staff to do some stuff, no surprise, but as someone who's been in foodservice far too long, I know that tone. It's the tone of an arsehole. Overbearing. Very snippy. You can tell he thinks everyone under him is an idiot. I could just visualize this guy chewing people out in public- oh wait, I don't need to visualize, I got a glimpse of it. While we were waiting for our food, the manager told the waitstaff that there would be a large party (10-12 people) coming through in a few minutes. He told Servers X and Y. Server X was our server, who had 3 or 4 other tables. So here comes this huge party and Server Y went over and greeted them and they both handled their beverages. They weren't there long and they were ready to order. So Server Y started taking the order and Server X was trying to attend to her tables so she could get to this big party. (Server Y had none that I observed.) So Mr. Manager comes over and sees this and said, "Server X, why is Server Y taking the order all by herself? Is there a problem?!" I'm telling you, I know this tone and this is the tone of a Chef Ramsey-esque jerk. Let me put this in perspective, since not everyone has the jinx of working in foodservice. Have you ever had a boss that treated you like crap? That chewed you out in front of your co-workers? A micro-manager? When you looked at the schedule and you saw you worked with Mr. Manager that day, did you cringe? Yeah I thought so. This is that guy. Would you ever want to give Mr. Manager any of your money again? Hell no. And that's why this place got 2 stars, and it's also why we won't be going back. Love Imperial Dragon...Have been going there for years and we have always been very satisfied with their food, service and employees..(Brittney is wonderful and always a pleasure to speak with when we order) We enjoy the family dinners...The portions leave room for leftovers and all the appetizers are great...(egg roll, ribs, breaded shrimp & soup) ... and along with the entrees, are a bang for your buck! Looking to support a local institution and get great food during this whole health emergency? I was asking myself, as a Mentor resident, which places in town deserve the most local support? I initially thought, Longo's, who has been serving Mentor since 1969. But then I thought pizza places are probably doing ok since they already have the infrastructure to deliver in place. So I went with another Mentor institution, Imperial Dragon. The Dragon is the best Chinese place in town because of the freshness and quality of their ingredients. I got the Happy Family with tender strips of steak and chicken, fresh jumbo shrimp and scallops in a medium spicy brown sauce. Wife got the Hunan Chicken was which also delicious. Throw in a large veggie fried rice, 2 egg rolls, and 2 spring rolls, and we are set for the rest of the day. Order was hot and ready at the specified time. War Sue Gai was almost pounded thin to non-existence. Just nothing like I've gotten there before. Only really ate half of it and had a stomachache the rest of the day. Some friends and I ordered takeout from here last night. Four dinners = $68.00 If those dinners had all been lobster and steak this would have been the deal of the century but they we're not. Even if those meals were just good, I could forgive the price, but they were all horrible. Two of the meals were allegedly chicken (Kung Pao & Sesame). One dinner was allegedly shredded pork but I am pretty sure it wasn't pork and it tasted like something rotten or cigarette butts were cooked with it. The fourth meal was happy family which SHOULD contain shrimp, pork, chicken and steak. Unfortunately the only ingredients I can confirm were shrimp and pork, the chicken was likely a rat and only God knows what that "steak" came from. Imperial Dragon has been our favorite sit down, dine in Chinese restaraunt for many years due to the quality of food. Due to having a child recently, we haven't been here for a couple of years, though we had ordered take out several times from them. I was glad to see the quality of food was still high, but unfortunately the portion sizes have gotten much smaller and the prices are still more expensive than most at $15 to $20 an entree. We ordered Orange Chicken and a Triple Delight. The Orange chicken was less spicy than the Triple Delight which was surprising, but the chicken was good and not overly battered. The Triple Delight had slices of large sea scallops, large shrimp and very tender beef. My only complaint was there was not enough leftover to take home. I still think they are the best dine in Chinese restaraunt in Lake County. read more

Don't understand the poor reviews - we've been customers for years and have never had a bad meal or poor service. I've lived and eaten Chinese food all over the country, and Imperial Dragon ranks among some of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever frequented. It is the ONLY Chinese restaurant in Lake County that makes Wor Su Gai correctly, and I highly recommend you give it a try, especially if you're a fan of fried chicken. When all other Chinese restaurants in the area taste the same and seemingly have identical menus, Imperial Dragon stands alone in quality and variety. The ONLY negative I can think of is that occasionally some loud patrons in the bar can be overheard in the dining area. Overall, the best Chinese food in the area, by far. read more

Came late on a Saturday night. It wasn't very busy, but they put us next to the bar anyway and having a conversation was a bit hard, given the at times lewd shouting behind us. The booth was a bit slimy/greasy, the waitress was prompt and attentive, she was quite nice. Our water was always full. The crab ragoons were good as always. The egg rolls were alright too. The vegetable lomein was pretty bad. Flavorless. The Buddhist delight was meh, the veggies were okay but there was something very soggy about the tofu, very water logged. Also got the general tso's chicken. Very large pieces, it was okay. The lomein and the vegetarian dish seemed to be coated in a weird gelatin. And the tea they brought out was some heavily steeped black tea- not very good. I gave two stars on the basis of the good service and the appetizers. But I don't think I plan to return. read more

The last time we were there I almost died laughing at the way the waitress was talking to my sister. She actually interrupted her during her order for steamed rice and told her, "No! I took my family to Imperial Dragon for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place was almost empty, which surprised me given the great reviews I saw on Yelp. We were seated quickly by a surly hostess. Fortunately, the waitress was friendly and helpful. This being our first time here, we ordered a pu pu platter offering various meats plus some pork fried rice and chicken chow mein. Sadly, most of the food tasted the same, all liberally seasoned with allspice. Even the fried rice had that faintly cinnamony flavor. The only exception was the gold fingers (chicken strips) in the platter, which were bland. It wasn't a horrible meal, but I expected better based on previous reviews. A whopper of a headache later that day made me wonder how much MSG the restaurant uses. I'll be looking for other options for Chinese food around Mentor before I try Imperial Dragon again. read more

Surprisingly Great Chinese food in the far eastern suburbs of Cleveland. Lots of dishes you could only normally find in the authentic places in Asia Town, such as Chow Fun and Honey Walnut Shrimp. On the particular Saturday night we visited, the place was very busy with both diners and take out orders, but once seated, the service was still attentive. The food was excellent, the aforementioned Shrimp, and Thai Wings were a very nice treat, and the Sesame chicken was of mammoth proportions. Despite the large portions, the prices were very fair. The hot and sour is to die for, the wanton is mouth watering, and if you like seafood then you have to try the velvet seafood chowder - AMAZING. As for the entrees, everything I've ever had here has been delicious so it's hard to single out one, or even a few, dishes. BUT, I will say this - I will recommend any of the combination plates. For no more than $11.00, you get an eggroll, choice of soup, your meal with rice, and dessert - TOTALLY WORTH IT (especially since you'll have enough leftovers for lunch/dinner the next day)! So, as you can see, you won't be disappointed with what you get for your money. Our adult family of five were able to meet for dinner here. The soup, appetizers and entrees were very good. However, the fried rice served with the entrees was brown being heavily seasoned with soy sauce. No scrambled egg, scallion, or even a pea or carrot nugget. Yep this Chinese Restaurant is in a strip mall but the quality of the food is of a very good quality. The staff is friendly enough, the portions are large and the modern restaurant is big enough to cater to groups and families. I highly recommend the lettuce wraps (vegetarian option has lots of mushroom morsels), crab rangoon or hot and sour soup for starters -- don't forget the shrimp chips too! Entrees always have a solid amount of veggies which is a must. Love the pepper steak, honey walnut shrimp and curry chicken. Of course there are fortune cookies for dessert too. I wish that Imperial Dragon offered brown rice and some additional "healthy" Chinese food options. I may be a little old school, but I'm also a fan of the Chinese zodiac place mats - hey its always a little something to keep you busy, right? If you're placing an order for takeout be sure to check and make sure your orders are right. There is a full bar at this Chinese restaurant and plasma TVs too.
