Lily's makeup skills are fine, but I would not recommend her due to repeated issues with professionalism and communication. I originally booked her for my wedding day in advance. While the makeup application itself was good, I did not feel prioritized as the bride. She was working on another client at the same time at the studio, someone taking photos at her studio, which caused delays and ultimately made me late for my own photoshoot. On such an important day, I expected to be the focus, and that was disappointing. She did not communicate in advance that she was double booked on that day. More recently, we confirmed a 3pm appointment for a wedding I was attending. However, a few days before, she called to say she would no longer be available at that time and could only do 12pm, without a clear explanation or apology. It left me scrambling to find an alternative. I dont mind if she needed to cancel, but suddenly she made it seems like I was inconveniencing her schedule. And to me, that was very unprofessional. Pricing and expectations are also not clearly communicated, and frequent mentions of tips felt unprofessional. Overall, while she has talent, reliability, transparency, and respect for a client's time are essential--especially for important events--and that was consistently lacking in my experience. For anyone looking for a more dependable experience, I ended up going with Dream Wedding on 150th, and they were professional, organized, and respectful of my time. Imperial Wedding Studio was recommended to us by one of our friends in 2014, and it turns out that they did not disappoint us at all. The prices for their professional services are decent and reasonable, I would say that they're absolutely worth the price you're paying for. Their gowns/costumes are very beautiful, make up & hair service is good, and their photographers are professionals! They made me feel and look beautiful. Most couples usually just sign up for only one contract for pre-Wedding photoshoot but we signed up for two in 2014 and 2015. My husband and I have used Imperial Wedding Studio for all four seasons of outdoor photography - Spring, Summer, Autumn & Winter. And we are absolutely satisfied with the outcome! We even have indoor photoshoot too since it was freezing outside during winter. The photo album we had comprising these four seasons is like our love story - even when seasons change, our love still remains the same! We also used their emcee & DJ service for our wedding party at New York in December 2014. Our emcee was Sandy and she accommodated well to our needs and likings for our wedding party. When my husband and I were expecting our first baby in 2018, we were back at Imperial Studio for our maternity photoshoot. When we were expecting our second baby in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit so we did not get to do our maternity photoshoot, but instead converted our maternity package to a family/baby pictures package after our second baby's arrival. Now, we are expecting our third baby in 2025, and just recently completed our maternity photoshoot with Imperial Studio. They never fail to impress us with their super quick turnaround time for pictures (all available within 5 days with initial touch up done on about 180 pictures, Michael's photography work was awesome!) and super excellent make up service/work by Lily Wong (she never fails to make me feel like a beautiful goddess/princess despite being a mom of 3 now). We also foresee ourselves returning to Imperial Studio for more family pictures in the very near future. I hired Lily Wong for hair and makeup for bridal and bridesmaid makeup. I also rented a red chinese qipiao. She was flexible with picking up and dropping off the dress, which i appreciated. (i should note, that you should give Lily a call and confirm when they are open, as they can be open earlier or later than what is initiated on googlemaps, etc. If you gave her a head up she would let you know her availability) I was able to do a trial makeup for my hair and makeup. I showed pictures for the hair, and she really did a beautiful job. She was very kind and gave suggestions, and didnt push if i didnt want fake eyelashes or checking to make sure I was comfortable. Though she is good at a "chinese style" makeup she listens and caters to what I wanted which was a bit more western with a twist. I got my hair and makeup done here as a bridesmaid and this hack of a lady (will add a photo of her) ruined my hair. Not sure why but she crimped my roots very aggressively to the point it hurt and curled my hair multiple times after applying heavy hair spray to the point where I now have severe breakage. You can literally smell the burn in my hair. On top of that this woman also did my makeup and made me look like a circus clown, orange eyeshadow, thick glitter all over my eyes chin and nose. And she was way too harsh when curling my lashes, pulling some out leaving my eye in pain. I was so upset and wanted to cry while sitting in her chair because she was not listening to me (I spoke up multiple times and was brushed off) and was just doing whatever she felt like. I did not say anything at the time since I did not want to upset the bride but both my hair and makeup came out terrible to the point I had to get a different lady (Thank god for Lily) to try and salvage it. Several friends came here for the wedding package. My wife chose this place after viewing all of their videos/photos/and services highly recommended by them. There's no referral fees for those guys, but you can sort of "bargain" for what you need here (non-negotiable in terms of money, but perhaps you can get "extras" that they can provide). Also, the make up artists have quite a reputation for themselves (famous folks from china come here to do their shoots). Ours is Lily (my wife insisted on having her). The receptionist Yen is also very responsive/reasonable. The photographer we had is MaLin (a very good sir and goes out of his way to get you a good shoot). The rental of clothing is what saves money. Why spend several hundreds/thousands on suits/dresses when you SHOULD only need it once in your life? Unless polygamy & polyandry is viable someday, a rental should be fine for the day. While we may see movies/shows having items passed down from generations, it's likely not going to happen. My gripe? Guys don't look great. There's not much you can do for a guy, true. But heck, at least tailor my clothes more so I fit things. I looked like a potato next to the wife. Things to note: -Photos will have some touch ups. It's a standard thing. -Every visit you do for a clothing fit/photo session, a tip is expected. It's a standard in the Asian industry apparently. I won't say how much, but let's just say that's how the workers get paid pretty much (or what I assume it to be). May be due to low price package? -There's Chinglish if needed. Hah. -If you want a specific shoot/photo op, be sure to mention it to your photographer. You're the customer of course. I had a 5+ star experience with Imperial Studio from beginning to end (for both engagement & wedding photos). I'll start off by saying that I am ABC and am pretty Americanized and had no issues. This place was recommended to me by a friend. I still shopped around at several places but this place had the best prices, dress options and the best team so I went with them. You will not find a more competitive price than what they will offer you here and I was truly impressed with the quality of the pictures & video. I recently picked up my photo albums from them and am very pleased With everything. All the staff here are very friendly and extremely patient. They have a pretty wide selection of wedding dresses if you're looking to rent - this is a great option for those of you who don't wana spend thousands on a dress you will only wear for one day. It's also great bc you get to choose several different outfits for your engagement photos which I loved. I personally ended up buying my own white wedding dress, but borrowed their qipao and also their dresses for the engagement photos. As for my photographer - I had Jason and he was amazing. Personable, funny, talented and very patient. Lily did my hair and makeup and I couldn't be happier. I honestly didn't really know What I wanted or What would look good bc I don't normally wear a lot of makeup but Lily did everything perfectly. She has literally everything you need. I also had her accompany me to my wedding so that she could do touch ups throughout the night (for extra charge), and it was perfect. I absolutely regret choosing Imperial Studio for my wedding. The price is very expensive and the quality of the work is not worth the outrageous price. I got married to my husband in Boston and they charged me extra for an out-of-state fee. On the day of the wedding, the color of the decorations was not the color that I previously chose. Even more infuriating was that the paid host from Imperial Studio got my name wrong. After the wedding was over, I returned to New York to choose my wedding photos. Most of the photos looked poorly taken, a sign of an amateur photographer. In addition, many photos were blurry. It resembles nothing like the example photos they show you at the beginning. During the photo selection I was told that I can only choose half of my photos for me to take home in my USB drive. Each additional photo would cost me three dollars more. What the f***? The make up artist Linda then rudely said, "if we give you the photos, how would the photographer make money?" We already paid the photography thousands of dollars and they were too cheap to give me my photos. Linda's attitude before I paid for their services was outstanding. As soon as I paid for the package, she became extremely hostile for any requests, was always rude, and always dismissing my concerns. Their wedding video was made terribly and I requested them to remake it. An example of bad video editing was that in the middle of the video there was a clip with the photographer and videographer having a casual conversation. After a few months, I was contacted to bring a hard drive for them to give me their revised wedding video. Since I wasn't in New York, I asked my friend to use his hard drive to copy the video. Then Imperial Studios deleted all of my friend's files without permission. This experience was a huge nightmare. I warn all people to never chose Imperial Studio for their wedding. read more

What a great one stop place! I came here upon recommendations from my other friends who've worked with imperial on their wedding. They have several set prices depending on what you are looking to do with them. They also offer photo booth and limo packages. It really is a one stop shop for your wedding. The prices are reasonable and they have not disappointed us with the results of makeup, hair, dresses, photographers. I had Lily as my makeup artist for all 3 of my events- indoor photo shoot, outdoor photo shoot and I had requested her for my wedding. She's a great makeup artist as well as hair artist! She works well with you and gives her honest feedback. She takes her time and does not rush to make sure you get the perfect look. Jayson was my photographer and he was great! Like lily, we had him for all our sessions. From our first indoor session with him, he had such positive energy and was very creative with our outdoor photo shoot. My husband's friends (Johnny & Sandy) actually referred me to Lily. She's very easy to work with, upfront, and super friendly! Communication was never an issue and she made sure everything was taken care of. She did my hair and make up for my indoor/outdoor engagement shoot and she did a wonderful job. She's very patient, helpful, and took her time to make sure I liked my make up. Lily knew exactly what I wanted and changed my hair styles throughout every outfit change. I want to highly recommend the wedding planner and MC Amos Leo!! Leo is the best! Leo is so knowledgable about the whole wedding process. He carefully go over all the details and remind us a lot of critical points that we are completely unaware of. He also designs a lot of tricks for me and gives my wife great surprise! Had a mediocre experience here. Came here to try on wedding dresses and Qi Paos. They only had one tiny room that was very dark. Most of their dresses are really worn and old, all of them had stains on them. Gross! There seemed to be no set pricing as well. When we asked about makeup services, they manager looked like she was making them up as she went along. Also the manager was very weird and odd about forcing us to tip the woman who 'helped us' try on dresses. The girl literally told me to pick dresses I liked and then I waited for 10mins to try on 3 dresses by myself?! She didn't help me. It was uncomfortable, as the manager called the girl over and said I would tip her. I'm a super Americanized bride having a western style wedding and I went to 5 different bridal shops in Manhattan and 1 other Asian one in Flushing and never once did anyone tip. Would highly recommend using Imperial Studio for your one stop shop of wedding needs! Having everything being done in one place definitely made my life a lot easier. Price - Purchased a very reasonably priced wedding package which included photo, video, limo, hair styling, make up, 3 dresses for the bride, dresses/suits for wedding party, and dresses/suits for the parents. Even went with the MC/DJ that they recommended and put me in touch with. My wedding was on 5/5 and it was worth every penny. Dresses/Suits - You are probably not going to have something that is brand new and if you are OK with that, then this place will be great. Good assortment, friends and families all complimented the dresses. Service - Yen was extremely helpful in arranging all the fittings. Lily was my hair and make up artist and she did an amazing job. Everyone was so friendly and professional. They opened shop super early for my daytime wedding needs. Received so many comments on how beautiful the dresses were and how amazing the make up looked. We got the wedding package at Imperial Studio through a friend's referral, because we saw how beautiful her wedding and all the pictures turned out. There are different packages available that tailor to different needs and budgets. Since my husband and I live out of state, planning our wedding in NYC was difficult. Therefore, we went with the full package that took care of the wedding dresses/tux, wedding party's outfits, makeup, engagement and wedding-day photography, limo, etc. It made our wedding planning so much easier and we love the products and services that we received. A special shout out to Yen, the studio representative that walked through the planning process with me to ensure that we got everything ready before the big day, although we could only visit NYC a few times before the wedding day. Another special shout out to Lily, the makeup artist, who is very talented and great at what she does. With each outfits/dress changes, she made some changes on my hair & makeup in a few minutes to make me look and feel beautiful throughout the night! (I even went back to her just for the makeup services when I had to attend a wedding in NYC.) I forgot my photographer's name, but we love his work too! Thank you, Imperial!
